Detailed Description
Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast is sublime and surreal. Its dense jungle leans out above pristine beaches, and monkeys howl from the trees. During this luxurious, 7-day vacation through Costa Rica, you can rest and relax in destinations that feel cut off from the rest of the world. You can also indulge in an adventure deep into the jungle or out onto enchanting reefs. Costa Rica’s Pacific coast is becoming increasingly popular, but the Caribbean has preserved its rich and untouched fell. With only one week in Costa Rica, it is difficult to combine both coastlines, but seven days in the Caribbean can blend coastal pleasures with more of the country’s iconic experiences, such as active volcanos and wildlife refuges.
Most importantly, Costa Rica’s Caribbean offers an enormous sense of freedom and space. Here, you children can find a place to run around and play in nature. There is also solitude and all the serenity that you can expect from a tropical locale in addition to the natural adventure that makes Costa Rica so exciting and inviting. It is amazing how many different experiences you can combine into just seven days in Costa Rica and the Caribbean, and this handcrafted tour will lead you from an active volcano to a jungle river and then from a wildlife-rich national park to the beach bliss of Puerto Viejo. This vacation will provide you with seven days of becoming closer as a family, but also seven days of exploring one of the world’s friendliest and most biodiverse nations.
After flying to San Jose, you will be met by a local guide for a short transfer to Irazu, where you will witness an active volcano with three craters and surreal thermal power. A tour around the summit will intrigue you before having some downtime at a boutique lodge. Continuing toward the Caribbean, you will spend a day rafting down the Rio Pacuare, which is an easy adventure that is possible for almost all ages and is mostly about drifting through nature. Most of your week in Costa Rica will be spent in two contrasting Caribbean destinations: Tortuguero National Park and Puerto Viejo.
Tortuguero is part jungle and part coast, making it a mystical world where monkeys howl and sea turtles provide hours of pure joy. River cruises will bring you intimately close to many different animals, while nocturnal beach walks can reveal sea turtles as they hatch from their eggs. From your accommodation, you can listen to the wild and still only be a short ride to the waves. Then, in Puerto Viejo, you will indulge in classic experiences. While there is a unique aura of peacefulness and serenity here, there is adventure as well. On day six, you will snorkel and swim in the turquoise water before a guided hike through the wonders of Cahuita National Park thoroughly excites you. You will even have time to stop at a wildlife refuge before you fly back to San Jose and depart the country.

Everything was arranged thoughtfully, with time for "adventures" and downtime at terrific resorts to relax. All pick-ups, travel by limo, and drop-offs went as arranged. The drivers, guides, and hotel staff were all very pleasant and kind. Zicasso's tour operator did a great job planning our eight-day, family-of-10 trip to Costa Rica! We appreciated that most tours, hikes, and ocean experiences were small groups of just our group of 10. This made it a personal and annoyance-free experience all around. Thanks!

We had a great trip and highly recommend others visit Costa Rica. Zicasso’s travel agent recommended great hotels and activities, and found outstanding local guides. We were amazed by the local wildlife that infused each element of our trip. The travel agent was responsive throughout the trip, including when we needed to change transportation arrangements because of a delayed flight.

Costa Rica was an interesting country and Manuel Antonio had a lot to offer. We booked late (August) for a vacation for 11 (including our five grandchildren aged 11 to 16). Zicasso's travel agent came through with many connections for housing and activities. She was quick to respond to questions and always very pleasant. You could tell she loved Costa Rica and knew the country. She was detailed, until she wasn't. We were disappointed that the final schedule had many pick-up errors, as well as miscommunications. It felt as though she had passed the work off to someone else.
Although it had been mentioned in previous reviews that a sloth lived in the tree above our pool at our villa, we never saw one. Everyone did enjoy interacting with the friendly monkeys and birds. Instead of swimming, the patio became a gathering spot for the forest animals.
The consensus was that our private catamaran tour was our favorite, even though it rained during most of our trip. The crew was very hospitable, always on the lookout for our safety, and professional. They prepped food as we watched and it was extremely delicious! Our grandkids loved swimming off the boat, jumping into the water, and sitting on the netting as we sailed.
We also enjoyed the private ATV tour (in spite of smelly, wet helmets). The staff, snack, and lunch were excellent, and the excursion was exciting. The staff were attentive to our safety. Unfortunately, two ATVs "died" during our trip.
Our final outing was a rainforest waterfall excursion. We feel this was a "last-minute" fill-in for our scheduled tour. We were picked up in a vehicle that was too small for our group and we scrunched 13 people into a van that seated 11. The tour guide was pleasant and guided us to various waterfall sights, but there was little talk or explanation during the trip. The fresh pineapple was delicious and the favorite stop was at Window Beach, where everyone enjoyed jumping the warm waves of the Pacific. Communication was lacking as we never knew how long we had at each stop. The food back at the business was just okay.
The villa was very nice and had some beautiful features. It was nice to have private bathrooms in the bedrooms, but we should have been alerted that we needed to bring our own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We've never traveled anywhere that required us to do so and purchasing six of each at any of their stores was extremely pricey. It could have easily been handled with a "heads-up" mention. Also, the foosball table handle was broken, as was the dishwasher. It took a day for us to get enough towels for our needs since housekeeping didn't leave enough out. We lost time communicating with our host due to internet connections.
Manuel Antonio is an expensive town. There were many nice restaurants and one-of-a-kind, "homemade" shops, and the locals were very welcoming and accommodating.
Hilly, windy, narrow roads made it nearly impossible to get around without a car. So, as a result, parking was difficult as well.

The Zicasso tour company was very accommodating. They put together a great itinerary and when we wanted to add something, it was no problem.

Mike and I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for our unforgettable two-week adventure in Costa Rica. The trip was amazing and exceeded our expectations. We were spoiled by the private transfers and private tours. All of the tour guides were professional and very informative. We enjoyed all of the selected hotels, with the lodge in Monteverde being our favorite. The hotel had a great happy hour with a variety of drinks and was within walking distance of Santa Elena. We liked having daily breakfast included and loved all of the fresh fruits, especially the cantaloupe and watermelon.
We appreciated your attention to detail and expert recommendations for the variety of tours and guides. We enjoyed the float trips and had a wonderful tour of the mangroves in Manuel Antonio. Our time in Monteverde included a rainy day hiking the hanging bridges and ziplining for the first time. I am glad we added the vanilla tour to our agenda in Manuel Antonio.
Thank you so much for making this trip special and stress-free. Please let your staff know that we appreciated all of their hard work. The WhatsApp gateway was great once we figured out how to use the app. It allowed us to communicate with the team to update us on schedule changes or other information. We will definitely recommend your services to our family and friends, and ook forward to visiting Costa Rica in the future.

My niece and i had a wonderful time in Costa Rica as planned by Zicasso's travel agency. Each of the three resort locations had something special to offer in terms of accommodations; and the staff at each resort were beyond phenomenal and friendly. Everywhere we went, the staff greeted us by name.
The activities suggested and planned were also very good. Highlights of the activities were ziplining, the ATV adventure, the organic farm tour, and cooking class and the sunset boat ride and snorkeling (even though it was before sunset and there wasn't any snorkeling).
The Tachiz drivers (Christian, Edgar and Alex) picking us up from the airport and taking us from one resort to another were personable and informative. Alex pulled over so we could take wildlife photos, and Edgar showed us 'the best' souvenir shop in Costa Rica.
Tachiz staff was available through what's app for anything we needed.
