Cuba Tour Review: Havana, Trinidad, Varadero, Beach, Cuban Jazz, Local Drinks & Cuisine, Hiking, 16-Day Trip
The travel company and Eli were nothing short of fantastic. The trip Eli curated for us to Cuba was perfect. Everything was taken care of - from accommodation, to food, drinks, sight seeing, and transport. She arranged a fantastic guide and private driver/car. Both the guide and the driver were great and took care of every need we had - even going so far as to wait in line at high demand restaurants so we had a table ready when we arrived. We stayed in Casa Particulars in Havana, Trinidad and Varadero. Eli personally inspects all the Casa Particulars that she will put her clients in - and they were all fantastic - clean, spacious and with the most gracious hosts. In addition to the accommodation, Eli also books at the best restaurants in each town hence we had some memorable meals which turned into not just eating but culinary experiences. The itinerary was packed with great tours and excursions - we enjoyed them all, which is a rarity! We visited Cuba over the Christmas / New Year's period, which is great weather-wise. The highlight of our trip was meeting Eli for a New Year's Eve party she organized for all her guests - the cherry on top of a spectacular trip!

Cuba Anniversary Vacation Review: Havana, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Cabaret, Dance School, Hiking, Bars, Hemmingway's House, Varadero Beach, Salsa Lessons, Sunset Dinner, 8 Nights

Our Zicasso travel expert did a great job making all of our arrangements and making changes as needed while we were in Cuba. Our local guide and driver were excellent. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, very patient, and so gracious. Our driver took good care of us too. The guest house in Havana was amazing. The guest house in Trinidad was mediocre. The guest house in Varadero was in a great location and just fine. We loved the itinerary. The activities were diverse, interesting, and fun. We could not believe the VIP treatment we received everywhere we went – the dance school, the cabaret venue, restaurants, etc.

Cuba Mother & Daughter Vacation Review: Vinales, Trinidad, Cigar Rolling Experience, Dance School, Amazing Food, Rainforest Hike
Wow. All I can say is WOW. If you're thinking of going to Cuba, GO. If you need a travel planner, use this company. It will be among the most memorable and excellent trips of your life. My daughter and I just returned from 9 days in Cuba. It was truly a life-changing experience. We genuinely got a deep immersion into the culture, the people, the country and the amazing things it has to offer. The agenda put together by this travel team was spectacular. We visited a tobacco farm and learned how to roll cigars and how to smoke them, we had a session with the young dancers at a Dance school, had Cuban cooking lessons, visited an organic farm, a mosaic city, hiked into the rain forest, visited museums and learned so much. I am truly only scratching the surface. The food was AMAZING - far better than I expected. Prepare to skip or share meals because there is so much delicious food. The accommodations were excellent - in family homes but with private baths, breakfast and comfortable surroundings. But the best part of the trip was the excellent partnership planning by the travel planner (and her extremely knowledgeable son). I don't think I ever emailed my planner where she didn't respond within 10 minutes and was ALWAYS flexible in accommodating our needs. Here advice was priceless and I felt so safe with her plans and style. And...I can't say enough about our guide and our driver. They were with us the entire trip, always with a smile, a helpful hand, super flexible and just plain good fun. It made all the difference. Cuba is not an easy trip. The distances are far and the infrastructure is difficult. But don't let that stop you. You can have the best of both worlds through this travel team. Immerse in Cuba but at a comfort level you're used to in the U.S. Be prepared for long distances in a '53 Chevy or the like. There is no other way to see the country. DON'T limit yourself to Havana. We loved Trinidad and Vinales so much. Be flexible...the restroom situation is not like the U.S. but with a little flexibility you can manage that. We didn't drink tap water but bottled water was very accessible and reasonable. The food is unbelievable. Bring good walking shoes, layers for unexpected weather and a flexible attitude. Listen before you "tell". You'll hear the Cuban perspective which is why you're there!!  AMAZING!!!

Cuba Travel Review: Havana, Trinidad, Museums, Art, Culture, Private Tours, 1-Week Trip

From the beginning to the end, the team was very accommodating and welcoming. Eli listened to all my likes and dislikes over the phone and made a fantastic itinerary for the group. She was also available via text or phone anytime I had a question. She handled getting the visas for us, which took a lot of stress off my plate. She was also available via WhatsApp while in Cuba. She checked in with me to see how the trip was going and was able to make my mother's birthday celebrations very memorable while we were there. Eli was also in contact with me when we returned from Cuba to hear all about our time there.

We had two drivers. The cars were really cool to drive around in. They were very protective of our group and were safe drivers. They kept us safe when in the market shopping and assisted the elderly lady in our group while walking on the cobblestone streets and stairs.

We had our personal tour guide for the whole trip. She was knowledgeable, funny, down to earth, and had a great deal of patience with us. We were a group of four women and often ran 10 to 15 minutes late for every dinner. We also had an absurd amount of allergies (gluten, garlic, lamb, beef, pork, and eggplant), which she communicated with each restaurant. Happy to say none of us had an allergic reaction. Galia also spoke excellent English, making communication easy.

The hosts at our accommodations were so welcoming and provided entertainment every night and morning. We haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Breakfast was provided every morning at Ivan's. We also enjoyed his dog, Brown. We visited various sites, including the Fidel Castro museum, art factory, Havana Club, Hemingway's, the Tropicana, Trinidad, old Havana, the beach, and the mosaic region, Fusterlandia.

Cuba Family Travel Review: Havana, Trinidad, Varadero, Beaches, Hikes, Waterfalls, Culture, Food, History
My family and I had a beautiful time in Cuba. We were VERY happy with this travel company. We had some flight delays at the very beginning of our trip and they were on top of that from the start.Next, our travel agency, listened to what we were looking for in our adventure to Cuba (culture, food, history, hikes and beach).Last and MOST important, they set us up with two of the most wonderful guide and driver. They were attentive to our needs, helpful with our ever growing list of questions and made us feel comfortable and at home on our trip.Cuba is one of the most beautiful Caribbean Islands we have ever seen. The people are just beautiful, the history of Cuba is amazing (and sad), the architecture is incredible and the food was just amazing. We never once felt unsafe on our tour of Cuba (Havana, Trinidad and Varadero).

Cuba Vacation Review: Havana, Trinidad, Culture

We really enjoyed the trip. Havana was great and we would like to return one day. The drivers were perfect and we really appreciated their kindness and friendly faces every day. Zicasso's travel agent was friendly and took good care of everyone. We loved the Havana BnBs. The staff at both places went beyond what was required. The accommodations were lovely. The BnB at the beach was OK. However, they need to improve the seating on the beach. There were only two chairs that were comfortable and the husband of the host was using one when we arrived. We never really got to enjoy the beach because the other chairs were too hard or missing cushions. I know that it was requested that we add a day to visit this area, but in hindsight, it was too far to travel in an old car for older people. It was hard on the back. Also, unless you are interested in the beach, there isn’t much to do. I would skip that area, especially if it’s for one day.

The food was good in most every location we ate. I didn’t particularly like the dinner when we were at the beach. Sometimes the meals were too large, especially after eating a big meal for lunch and dinner. One of our favorites was the pork sandwich, which we ate on the way to Trinidad – simple and smaller. Plus, eating such large meals at lunch took a lot of time.

I think additional time for sitting in cafés and enjoying music would have been good. We really didn’t get to enjoy much local music, which was something Gary and I were looking forward to. The days were pretty full, so we would have had to eliminate something in order to do that, but I think that would have been OK.

We particularly liked the events where we were able to interact with the locals. For example, the dance school was very enjoyable. We also liked the senior center where we dropped off our donations.

We really enjoyed our time and, as I said before, we hope we can return for another visit.

In conclusion, the biggest changes I would recommend would be less time eating at lunch so we could experience more things, more time enjoying the local atmosphere (like music in the late afternoon), not trying to do too much on a trip, and not traveling too far, but it was a great trip!
