Kruger National Park - Exploring the Luxury of Tinga Narina

A rhino stands silently alongside the rutted trail. Zebras canter away into the distance, kicking up a mystical swirl of dust. An elephant stands above the vehicle, and it's impossible to miss the giraffes that roam along the horizon. Africa promises so many images of wilderness and wildlife; within an hour of landing, you're already amongst them. Your private transfer will meet you at Johannesburg International Airport and assist you to the domestic terminal for the short flight to Nelspruit. You're picked up by your safari guide and quickly enter into the world of Kruger National Park. This ecosystem is home to over half the world's rhinos and an abundant collection of the big cats. So you rarely have to wait long for the premier safari postcard-worthy picture.

Spend the afternoon driving through Kruger. Go slowly and pick up on the natural cues. Elephants lead you to a waterhole being used by hyenas. Kudu and springbok skip across the trail. Peer closely into the trees and something moves. Keep looking. Concentrate. And as the branch moves again, you spot a leopard. As sunset falls, you arrive at Tinga Narina Lodge, set within its own private concession. Great numbers of wild animals surround the lodge, keeping the safari going into the night. Settle into your luxury suite and you can still see the wildlife through the window. Elegant and imbued with old-world charm, Tinga Narina is both a journey into the wild and a celebration of traditional safari luxury. Detailed Description

The Rainbow Nation delights in its diversity, effortlessly bringing together a myriad of faces and experiences. It's a country that can pull you in many directions and immerse you in a series of paradigms. The experiences are so different that it almost feels as if you're traveling in multiple countries. But the warm smiles and friendly greetings provide an assuring reminder that you're exploring South Africa. On this 12-day Tinga Narina Safari Lodge itinerary, you discover four unique destinations, each a snapshot of the Rainbow Nation and its kaleidoscopic tones. There's big five safari in world-famous Kruger National Park, elegant luxury in the Cape Winelands, whale watching from beautiful beaches, and four days in the iconic city of Cape Town. Each is unmistakably South African yet dappled with new cultures and experiences.

A big game safari introduces you to Africa. Hundreds of rhinos roam freely around the lodge, big cats hunt on the open savannah while large elephant herds rumble past the safari vehicle. Kruger is a place of phenomenal abundance and at many moments, you're not sure where to look. Staying at the Tinga Narina concession adds exclusivity and intimacy, along with the old-world luxury of safari lodges. Drive off road, walk through antelope-covered bushes, and watch a procession of life roam past your room. Three days ensures you're constantly finding a new angle and can seek out all the famous animals.

Then, you travel to Franschhoek, South Africa's oldest town, nestled in the Cape Winelands. Vineyards fill the panoramas, and you spend two days sampling the wine and fine dining of the region. A personalized wine tour unveils the area's hidden boutique farms while the town is filled with gourmet options. Heading to the coast, you relax in the quaint town of Hermanus. Whales raise their young in the bay, and they're easily seen from the coastline. Get even closer to the 15-meter giants with a whale watching safari. A private driver transfers you between destinations, but you can also elect a self-drive experience during this portion of your trip.

Eventually you've reached Cape Town and the dramatic postcard image of Table Mountain. Head straight up the mountain to get a feel for the city's design, with the suburbs nestled between the 3,000-feet peaks and glistening Atlantic Ocean waters. Two free days enables you to explore at leisure: Mandela's history on Robben Island, vivid street markets, sublime restaurants, and an atmosphere that's always inviting. The following day, you're guided to the very tip of Africa and Cape Point. Expect to see penguins, fishing villages, and countless panoramic views en route. As you traverse South Africa, you travel from its rhino-filled savannah to its serene southern tip, taking in all the tones that have created the Rainbow Nation. It's South Africa in a snapshot, but also South Africa at its immersive best.

South Africa, Zimbabwe Travel Review: Local Cuisine, Safari Drives, Glamping, Food Tour, 2 Weeks

The trip was absolutely amazing – truly the trip of a lifetime. The accommodations were perfect for us – the Cape Town hotel with its proximity to the V&A Waterfront and the boutique guesthouse in Franschhoek, which was also within easy walking distance to restaurants and the wine tram. The safari lodge was incredible – the food, service, safari drives, and our very comfortable glamping tent. The other lodge was also very comfortable, with great customer service.

Our tour guide in Cape Town was the best – very knowledgeable, accommodating, and personable – and truly worked to make our trip extra special. The foodie tour was great – the most food we have ever had on a trip – with nice variety and local selections.

The transfers were without a glitch.

We can't say enough to thank our travel agent and her agency for making this a perfect trip.

South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana Family Trip Review: Franschhoek, Gansbaai, Sabi Sands, Safari, 3-Week Tour

First, the booking experience with Zicasso's trip coordinator was seamless. She was always very attentive, responsive, and prompt with her replies. She listened to our wants and delivered beyond our expectations. Even our guides commented that she chose well for us. I would highly recommend booking with her.

Our itinerary in South Africa was pure perfection. Everything from the accommodations to the timing was perfect. We cannot say enough great things about the safari in Sabi Sands and the lodge. The lodge in Franschhoek was exceptional and the one in Gansbaai was the ideal ending to our trip.

This was truly a trip of a lifetime for our family. I’m not sure how we will ever top this experience. Thank you to Zicasso for connecting us with our agent.

South Africa, Zimbabwe Travel Review: Cape Town, Winelands, Safari Lodge, Victoria Falls, Boulders Beach, Big Five, Penguins, 12 Nights

Cape Town was lovely. Our tour guide was great. He knew his history about Cape Town. He answered every question we asked. Our guide had a great rapport with my daughter. He was very trusting.

Our tour of the Cape Winelands was great! Our guide knew a lot about wine. Our stay at the guesthouse was lovely. We were very comfortable with the staff.

Our stay at the safari lodge was very special. We were treated like royalty. Our safari guide was the best. He knew about every animal we encountered. He took us on safari twice a day, morning and late afternoon. We saw the Big Five—elephants, Cape buffalo, rhino, leopard, and lions.

Our last tour was of Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and knew where the best places were to get the best view of the falls.

Our first trip to Africa was beyond our expectations.

South Africa, Zambia Travel Review: Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Safari, Houseboat Experience, Devil’s Pool, Elephant Sanctuary, Winelands, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel agent was a delight to work with. He turned our extremely ambitious wish list into a two-week dream itinerary that included stays in Cape Town, the Winelands, a safari lodge, and Victoria Falls, and ended with three nights aboard a houseboat on the Chobe River. All accommodations were superb and perfectly situated for enjoying the local scenery and culture.

We transitioned from the cosmopolitan beachside vibe of Cape Town’s Camps Bay to a safari lodge that looked out on a busy watering hole frequented by hippos, zebras, elephants, antelopes and giraffes. We took advantage of many excursion opportunities: shark-tank diving, a swim in Devil’s Pool above Victoria Falls, a helicopter ride over the falls, ziplining, wine tasting, quad biking through vineyards, and a visit to an elephant sanctuary that included interaction with the animals.

Thanks to our agent’s meticulous planning, each day flowed seamlessly into the next. Transportation to and from airports and excursions was handled by a friendly cast of drivers and guides, all determined to make sure we had the best experience possible. We went to bed each day feeling like it had been the best day of the journey. It’s rare for my expectations to be exceeded, but our agent and his team did just that. It was an extraordinary experience.

South Africa Vacation Review: Cape Town, Table Mountain, Safari, History, Culture, 8 Nights

Our family had a blast in South Africa, thanks to Zicasso's travel designer. She was meticulous in the planning and gave some good suggestions that worked well for our group. From fast-track tickets up to Table Mountain to food recommendations, she curated an itinerary that made the trip a breeze.

The guide in Cape Town was a wellspring of knowledge. We learned so much about the country from her, from history to economics and culture.

The safari portion of the trip was most memorable. The resort in Hoedspruit was just what the family needed.

We will definitely look up this travel company for future trips.
