Day 1

Arrival in London, the Greatest City in Great Britain

This morning sees you entering the heart of the British Empire at Heathrow, ready to explore the best offerings of this famous world capital. After dropping off your bags at your luxurious and comfortable hotel, check out your surroundings in the hotel’s neighborhood: you’ll find that, in London, even the most everyday buildings are filled with a sense of power and pride that comes with being the center of the known world for more than two centuries.

Stroll along the mighty River Thames or wander the beautiful and peaceful grounds of Hyde Park, London’s largest swath of green. Then again, it might just be best to stop in at one of the many London pubs for a pint and some pub food: despite the bad rap English cuisine gets, you’ll find yourself pleasantly surprised as you chomp down on fish and chips or discover one of the myriad of the city’s establishments dedicated to serving authentic “ethnic” cuisine.

Luxury European Vacation Review: UK, Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, British Isles, UNESCO Heritage Sites, Hiking, Museums & Art

It's hard to beat the British Isles when the sun shines every day of your trip.  We hit the weather of the decade:  sunny and warm every day except 2, and we were traveling 5 1/2 weeks!    The weather gods did the heavy lifting, but the travel company was not far behind by booking us into some very nice and comfortable B & B's.  Out of the many different places we stayed in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, only 2 places fell short and we would not recommend them.  The rest were wonderful finds:  small, friendly, quiet, well appointed and close to restaurants.

We had done a lot of work in terms of deciding exactly what we wanted to see and do.  The agency did a great job fitting our ambitious schedule into a manageable itinerary.  In hind sight, we should not have tried to do so much.  It would have been better to linger longer as each place was so special.

Our prearranged guides in the cities were all great.  Their collective body of knowledge of their respective areas was superb.  The only tour experiences that were not good, were two arranged bus tours.  They were both too long and too generic.  We avoided city "packages" and instead took advantage of the many local walking tours available.

Overall, we give this travel company very high marks.  We did have a few details fall through the cracks....nothing insurmountable.  If you use their services in the future, review every detail of the itinerary no matter how small in order to avoid omissions and/or errors.  We would give them an overall rating of 4.5

Review: Family Trip to Ireland & England, London, Dublin, Ashford Castle, Music Concert, Guinness Tour

Our travel agent made our trip to Ireland and England easy and very memorable. We traveled to London and all over Ireland with two kids and it was more than we could have asked for. All of our guides were very experienced and professional. Our agent also obtained the awesome U2 concert tickets that brought us to Ireland. Our entire trip went smoothly and was very well planned.

Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales Luxury Trip Review: Gardens, Art, History, Food, 6 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel company did a great job of planning and delivering on our trip in July and August 2024. They planned 51 days of travel in the UK and Ireland with driver guides throughout. It was an expensive trip, but we thought it was well-priced. They did a great job of selecting hotels with charm and luxury that were not out-of-this-world luxurious (and thus super-expensive). The touring was well planned to take in the top sights and some less-known ones as well.

We are experienced travelers who have typically planned our own tours, so we were quite clear with them regarding the amount of time we wanted to spend in each region. We tend to stay one or two days longer in regions to get the most out of the trip and we like to stay two to three nights minimum in most locations. They added in extra day trips and leisure days to meet our travel style.

The company provided in-town and countryside touring with local guides and driver guides. They were all super. The driver guides bent over backward to adjust to our preferences. After a few days of touring, we considered them our local friends.

All along the way, we could communicate with their team using WhatsApp, usually messaging, but calling as needed also. There were a couple of adjustments we wanted and they took care of those promptly.

England, Ireland & Scotland Couple's Review: London, Dublin, Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Abbey Road, Edinburgh, Cooking Class
We gave this travel team a tall order. “Here is our days to travel, here is our budget, we want to see it all, even though we did not know what “it all” we wanted to see and we do not want to have to worry about anything! The travel team delivered in flying colors! From the time we landed in London and were greeted by our driver to the time we were dropped off at the Shannon airport in Ireland 12 days later, everything was perfect. The logistics, the hotels and guides were great.  Communication with the team was outstanding and they were very accessible despite the time change. The guides they placed us with were timely, friendly and extremely knowledgeable and their recommendations were on point. The hotels were comfortable and well located. Our itinerary was -London and the surrounding area, a train to Edinburgh, a flight to Dublin and then down Killarney, the Ring of Kerry and the surrounding area.
