France Vacation Review: Nice, Avignon, Provence, Cote d'Azur, Carcassonne, Food & Wine Tastings
The owner tried very hard to customize our trip and we were satisfied with his plan. Small group tours and all ground transportation were perfect. However, the 4 star hotels were somewhat disappointing- the locations were excellent but the 3 hotel rooms we had in the 3 destinations had significant deficiencies like a very noisey alleyway, a rock-hard mattress and a ground floor room with only a sheer drape next to the street. Overall, we really enjoyed Avignon and Nice very much and will have many fond memories.

Travel Review: Luxury Spain Tour, Barcelona, Granada, Cordoba, Madrid, Sevilla, Toledo, Ronda, Food & Wine Tours, 17-Day Trip

Perfect! This was our first experience using Zicasso, and we were extremely well pleased with the concept, and with the company we selected. Our planning for this trip of 17 days in October began in January, when we first selected them among the companies we were referred to, and outlined our plans, desired itinerary, and interests in an extensive telephone conversation with the rep.He and we were in frequent touch by email and phone over the next two months to refine our program. We decided to drop one city from our itinerary; we altered our original flight plans for arriving/departing Spain, added/subtracted some activities; approved places where we might want a guided tour and those where we would not. Throughout, the rep was an effective and capable advisor, offering suggestions (include a visit to Toledo), using his expertise to recommend the best itinerary for the trip based on train/air times and choke points (how to include a stop in Ronda); taking local holidays into account, even quickly preparing an alternate itinerary at one point when it appeared our party would have to be just 2 rather than 4.We signed a contract and paid a deposit in March to finalize our plans. In ensuing months, the company worked to nail down the details: train and air travel within country; pickups/drop-offs at hotels/airports; car service for excursions by road; reservations at hotels we had chosen based on the rep's recommendations; tickets for museums or events, especially those that often need to be obtained in advance. We had chosen from the start to do our own research and selection of restaurants, but the company also offered an extensive list of possibilities in the various places were visiting; and once we made our decisions, the company kindly made all the reservations for us, fitting the exact times in with our schedule of other things. All this was magically and effectively done for us without a lot of effort or time on our part, so by October 1, there was little to worry about except boarding the plane. From the moment we landed at Barcelona, to the date we departed sixteen (actually seventeen) days later, everything went like clockwork. It became clear that the rep and his team were personally committed to ensure that things would proceed without a hitch. By reports from drivers and guides, they often knew before we did that we might be running a little late somewhere, and made small adjustments accordingly.  Of course, there were minor snags - in one case, due to a miscommunication between a guide and a driver, we couldn't find our driver, and he couldn't find us; and in the jammed ancient streets of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, we were surprised to find a vehicle could only get as close as two blocks from the front door of our hotel -- but those were rare exceptions.  In addition, we and the rep communicated as needed by phone and text, for example when we decided to cancel a reservation at one restaurant. More important, when our airline cancelled our departure flight with one day's notice, we of course had to work out our alternate flight with the airlines directly, but the company took some pressure off by getting our stay at our hotel extended (and of course adjusting our transport to the airport).Hotels: In the four places where we had set up overnight stays (Barcelona, Granada, Sevilla, and Madrid), for which the company had recommended the hotels, we were very happy with their choices. We had expressed a preference for smaller hotels  in a historic building, and the rep's recommendations did not disappoint - everywhere, we found wonderful accommodation with friendly, helpful staff (most also had their own restaurant). After the trip, we tried to agree on a favorite - but all were favorites, albeit with different features.Guides: Last, but most important, was the rep's success in selecting such excellent guides for our city, museum, and food/wine tours. In each case, our guide was a native of the city we were in; in each case, they were not only expert in their fields but had a lot of great, interesting information to impart about local customs and legends, shopping, and institutions. Our guides added immensely to our enjoyment and learning from the trip – they made a world of difference. The "bottom line" is that if/when we plan more travel in Spain, we will definitely work with Zicasso, and hope to have the chance to work again with this company and their rep.

France Travel Review: Avignon, Saint Remy, Nice, Wine Tasting, Rugby, Private Tours, 16-Day Trip
Overall trip was well organized and arranged. The travel agency is responsive and supportive with our changing needs during the trip. Being able to see big city (Nice) and heart of Provence at Avignon and Saint Remy, finishing up in the City of Toulouse was good itinerary for us to enjoy France. We managed to make a day trip to Barcelona, too! Having our luggage stolen on the train (TGV) is still painful and we are saddened by the loss of our precious memento. The agency has done as much as possible and was sincere in supporting us.

Italy Review, Florence, Gelato Making, Truffle Hunting, Cooking Class, Mother & Daughter Trip

The travel company was OK. The drivers were always there. The hotels were nice and in good locations, generally. We had guides in three cities. One of the guides was really terrific. The other two were knowledgable but didn't talk to my daughter (14 years old) with whom I was traveling and one of them was very difficult to understand because of her strong accent so we learn much those two days. We had agreed on some things we wanted to do in two of the cities and the travel company said they would include them in the tours but didn't. We had a few food-focused activities set up. Gelato making was excellent. A day in the market and cooking was just OK - the facilities were really nice but the food actually wasn't particularly good. The one bad activity was truffle hunting which didn't correspond at all to what the itinerary said it was and it was really just wine tasting which wasn't an ideal day for a 14 year old. In any event, I would not work with this company again. I would have been better off just using tripadvisor and booking the trip on my own.

Luxury European Family Vacation Review: Italy, France, England, London, Paris, Rome, Florence, Vatican City, EuroDisney

We were so lucky for having this representative as a travel consultant and guru!

His planning, advising and hard work contributed on making our trip a wonderful one.

We are a family of 5, with children from ages 14 to 6.

Our trip began in Mexico City, we flew to Paris and we  were then met by our driver who was extremely kind and welcoming. He took us to the hotel in central Paris to be received  by the general manager with gifts to all our children. She surprised us with an upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite overlooking  the Tulleries and the Eiffel Tower, what a treat!

Since we have  family in Paris  we took time to visit them.

Our third day in Paris consisted of a walking tour throughout the Latin Quarter, suggested by our agent. We were met at our hotel by our guide. He is  an architect, who knew about the story of how the city started developing. Our guide took us to hidden, beautiful churches which very few people knew about, and the paths we walked on were so charming in their own mysterious way.  He kindly brought a book full with pictures to help our kids understand better. He was quite charming and understanding with our youngest daughter.

We were met on our fourth day by our driver who took us to Eurodisney for a quick treat for the kids, again our agent arranged the right hotel, everything went smoothly.

On our 6th day our driver met us promptly at our hotel to take us to the airport and catch our flight to Rome.

At Rome we were met at the luggage pick up by our guide who was very welcoming and warm, at the exit we met our driver who after our time with him want to bring back home with us! He was a master to the best food in Rome and also gave us a tour of the not so touristy places to visit! At the end of our visit our youngest daughter wanted him with us every hour of the day!

Our hotel was a beautifull small hotel in the heart of the city , just 2 minutes from the Spanish Steps!

Our visit to Vatican city was all taken care of and went smoothly.

Our agent suggested Gadiator School were the kids had a blast! And learned all about ancient Rome.

We took a train to Florence and our driver took us with all our luggage up to the door of the train! We didint have to figure out anything at all! Every aspect was already taken care for!

As we arrived in Florence train station our driver was waiting for us to help us with our luggage. We arrived to a beautifull hotel in the center of town .

Our visit to Pitti Palace and Uffizzi galery was led by Francesca who had a magic touch with the kids and took great pleasure in explaining every question for us.

As this was also a pleasure trip our agent suggested a Chianti wine tour, wich we enjoyed with a delicious lunch. Our driver in Florence was a treat since he knew all about wines, grapes and wineries in Italy.

On our last day we visited Bologna for a quick tour of the central piazza , and then headed to the Lamborghini factory for an amazing treat to our 11 year old son.

Arriving at venice our guide was already waiting for us to take us via taxi to our hotel just to block from St Mark square, with a beautifull terraze for breakefast.

Our next day started with a guided tour of St. marks church with an amazing guide...on the second day we enjoyed a visit to Murano and Burano Islands with our guide who was also a proud story teller of beautifull venice ,charming and patiente with the kids.

Sadly we had to leave to London and our guide took care of everything for us ....even accompanning us to the check in counter.

Arriving in London our driver was waiting and took us to a beautifull hotel infront of Kensington gardens were we amazingly received and taken care for for our two day visit.

As you can read from our review we have nothing but good and grateful words for the work our agent and his team did for us. He understood perfectly what we needed to make this unforgettable.

Again thank you !

Hope to travel again through your agency!

Travel Review: Memorable Vacation to Italy, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, Antinori Winery Tour, Rome, Vatican Tour
Giuliana of this Italy travel company guided us every step of the way and created one of our most memorable vacations. The most impressive thing at the outset was how quickly she responded to our initial inquiry. We had never been to Italy, had not done a great deal of research, and had only a general idea of what we wanted beyond the dates (mid-May) and the cities we wanted to visit (Florence and Rome). Within a day, Giuliana submitted a detailed proposed itinerary based on a recent client request similar to ours. The proposal included various options that provided a great starting point for further discussion. She asked many questions, including our hotel preferences (small boutique, high-rise, how many stars, etc.) and suggested a number of venues that would expose us to Italy’s remarkable history and culture. The result was a vacation specifically suited to our personal tastes and interests. We spent four days in Florence and three in Rome. In Florence, we stayed at the Hotel Lungarno on the Arno River, a lovely small hotel in the heart of the city within walking distance to everything of interest, including the Uffizi and Academy museums, and the famous Duomo. It rained two nights, but we didn’t have far to go for a great dinner. The hotel restaurant was superb. One of the highlights of the Florence leg of the trip was a day tour of the Tuscany wine region that included a stopover in the historic town of Siena. We had lunch at the Osteria di Passignano, a restaurant at the Antinori vineyards where we were treated to a four course lunch and wine tasting and a tour of the winery. Fabulous. In Rome, we stayed at the Hotel Saint George. Another small, well appointed, boutique hotel, centrally located near the Tiber River, it provided access to all the essential venues, including the Vatican, Coliseum, Spanish Steps, etc. As in Florence, everything was in walking distance, including fine dining restaurants, pizzerias, espresso bars, and gelateria—and lots of places to shop. The hotel was comfortable, attractive, with a friendly and efficient staff, but we would not recommend the hotel restaurant. It was nice enough (although too brightly lit) but was virtually empty the night we were there and the food was just O.K. That wasn’t Giuliana’s fault since the hotel restaurant was not on her recommended list. We were just tired (it was our first night) and thought we’d give it a try. The hotel concierge made up for it, however, by recommending two great nearby restaurants for the remaining two nights. Neither was on Guiliana’s list, but they were terrific. A word about the logistical aspects of the trip: we viewed this as critical to the success of a customized tour with multiple venues and connections. We couldn’t have been more pleased. On arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, we were greeted by Aldo who drove us to the high-speed train to Florence. After sharing an espresso with us in the station café, he made sure we got on the right train, helped us with our bags, and took us to our seats. Similar service greeted us at every connection point during the trip. Our personal tour guides, Enza (Florence), Andrea (Tuscany), and Sylvia (Rome), were exceptionally knowledgeable, personable, and fluent in English. Giuliana telephoned us at several points during the trip to confirm that we had arrived at our destination, that the drivers were on time, and that the accommodations met our expectations. Very reassuring to know she was keeping such close tabs on things. In short, all elements of transportation and personal service were impeccable. Would we visit Italy again? Without doubt. The trip simply whetted our appetites. Would we use this company? We wouldn’t consider any other service. Next time, however, we’ll make more of an effort to visit the restaurants recommended by Giuliana.
