Frankfurt – The Compelling Contrasts of Frankfurt
Frankfurt doesn't quite resemble what you might be picturing for the Black Forest. The skyline is all glistening skyscrapers and futuristic design, resembling the city's role as Germany's financial capital. But from the upper echelons of the towers, you can see the rural landscape start to spill out and far beneath the clean lines, you wil find a history that contrasts the cityscape. Frankfurt has been around since before the Romans, the home of dozens of monarchs and a place of Renaissance revival. Unfortunately, not that much survived World War II, so you'll need an expert local guide to unravel the compelling contrasts.
You will be greeted at the airport and transferred to a five-star hotel that's been built into one of Frankfurt's finest old buildings. Settle in, rest, relax, and head out on a Frankfurt tour whenever you are ready. A local guide connects the different sides to the city, enabling you to explore the unique design of the financial district and then head into the streets that showcase Frankfurt's past. Travel at a relaxed pace and the tour can be extended in a variety of directions dependent on your energy levels; choose to return to the hotel for an early dinner or find the artistic treasures in the city's galleries.

Detailed Description
The Black Forest dances with a sophisticated mystique. It pulls on your heartstrings, enticing you in with landscapes from an oil painting, all swirls and blurring colors. From a distance, you see the full canvas. Get closer, and the intimate details jump from their hiding places amidst the trees; the medieval towns, crumbling castles, vineyards, the spas used by nobility for centuries. Roads loop beneath the canopy, winding their way to villages from the past and the escapist bliss of rural Germany. This unique itinerary immerses you in the oil painting, surrounding you with the colors and charms of one of Europe's most sublime destinations. Spend a week exploring the intricate details, connecting all the realms of the Black Forest and uncovering all its secrets.
Frankfurt provides the compelling vantage point, its skyscrapers gazing south to where the forest starts to cascade. Spend a day in the city, and then a day on a private cruise along the River Rhine; stop at a vineyard and explore with the senses, discover a medieval fortress, and slowly roam along the iconic waterway. Then head beneath the forest awning, first to Heidelberg, a spectacular ancient town that tumbles across the green slopes and then onwards to Baden-Baden, a spa town that's been revered by nobility for centuries. It goes without question that your luxury hotel offers salubrious facilities that capture the essence of Baden-Baden's past.
Continue through the High Route, traverse the valleys of the Black Forest and wind through the panoramas of the Alps. Freiburg is framed by peaks, and often the mist rises amongst the trees, adding more mystique added to the itinerary. Like all the stops in the Black Forest, there are countless walking trails, most of them starting from right outside your hotel. Move on with travel to Britnau, fully enveloped in the contrasting vistas of alpine escapism and alluring forest. Nearby is the land of cuckoo clocks and you spend a morning discovering the how, what, and the why.
Culinary treasures guide the last days of this luxury tour. Tiny Baiersbronn is home to a remarkable 12 Michelin stars, an unexpected gastronomic center that offers a menu that challenges the stereotypes of German cuisine. Amongst a thick awning of evergreens, dine at one of the town's celebrated restaurants, a menu of indulgence enhanced by the bucolic landscapes. Cultural Stuttgart is the final stop, one elevated by a farewell dinner with a five-course menu as a complement to the hotel's spa. Throughout the itinerary, expect exceptional hotels, mostly with luxurious spa facilities and a boutique sense of the Black Forest's serenity. Transfers are in luxury saloon vehicles with a driver guide who narrate all the tales from this stunning landscape.

Our trip was absolutely incredible. All the destinations were amazing; so charming and perfect for what we were looking for, which was small-town charm and to really immerse ourselves in the character and history of Germany! Rothenburg was our favorite destination, but the whole trip was incredible and so well laid out with activities.
The guides could not have been nicer or more helpful! One met us at the airport in Frankfurt and started us off with a wonderful tour of Heidelberg, really getting us into the groove. We were tired, but really enjoyed the quaintness and history of the town. From there, we went to Baden-Baden, a wonderful Belle Époque town with much to see, great shopping, and a fabulous hotel. Then, it was on and on with a tour of the Unimog Museum, a drive through the Black Forest with a visit to Lake Mummelsee, and an incredible visit to Rothenburg (a must-see). We ended with an afternoon and evening in Munich, with a walking tour of the Rathaus/town center area and, of course, a must-experience lunch in a beer hall/biergarten, and so much more. All the hotels and restaurants booked were fabulous. We cannot recommend Zicasso’s travel agency any more highly!

We can’t recommend this travel company enough! In a time when many tour operators loosely use the term “luxury” to describe their services and attract clients, this travel company actually provides a true luxury travel experience.
Everyday was like opening a present. The work they do up front to determine your needs and interests, assists them in creating an amazing, unique experience. There aren’t enough stars for many of the hotels they secure and you leave each location wishing you had one more day at the hotel and village/city with your newly acquired friend and driver/guide. As a family of five with ages ranging from 26 to 86 we chose to have driver/guides takes us from Bamberg to Rothenberg, Baden-Baden, Heidelberg, Rhine and Mosel Valleys with day trips to Strasbourg, Frankfurt and Giessen to see where our father had been stationed and husband was born.
However, they also offer itineraries for self-driving tours.

The travel specialist and her crew planned the most amazing trip for us. They literally saw to every detail and we were blown away by the service: from our personalized tour of Neuschwanstein castle to the most incredible hotel in the medieval town of Rothenburg, down to the smallest details of hotel transfers and meal reservations (including my dietary restrictions of being gluten free). We enjoyed the guidance of the personal tours in Heidelberg and Munich with the added ability to reach our tour company by phone at any time of the day or night when we were on our own (a unique perk that they provide in their top notch service). Their well thought out itinerary was perfectly detailed but also allowed us the freedom to adjust at our own leisure to explore separately. This was truly the most wonderful trip that we have ever experienced and this was due to the incredible service and hospitality of the travel team (more specifically the travel specialist) and the wonderful people that we encountered at the hotels and restaurants suggested to us. For anyone considering traveling to Germany, there is no other travel company to consider!!

Our travel company designed a six-week tour for us in Germany, with a short stopover in Switzerland and time in Austria. The trip was designed based on our interests. Options for activities were provided each day, with maps and pamphlets in English.
All of the lodgings were vetted in each of the 13 places we stayed. Breakfast was included at every hotel. We were also given a list of recommended restaurants that was helpful. A concierge was assigned who was available each day for any questions and to arrange reservations if needed. We had guides and drivers in many of the cities. They arranged train travel at a first-class level.
We drove in parts of Germany with a rented car that was also arranged by the company. For such a long trip, there were many details that were planned. We feel Zicasso’s travel company knows Germany and the surrounding countries, so it guided us to some of the most important sites historically, along with showing us modern-day Germany.
We are more than happy that we did not have to struggle on our own to plan such a long trip as Germany has so much to offer. We highly recommend our travel agency for your travel to Germany, with stopovers in nearby countries. We saw beautiful churches and historical sites, hiked, climbed towers, and viewed beautiful lakes and mountains.
