Munich – Welcome to Munich

Begin your Bavarian beer adventure in the state’s capital, Munich. Once you land, a comfortable 40-minute transfer will see that you make it from the airport to your hotel on the sophisticated Maximilianstrasse.

When you’ve settled into your room at the Hotel Vier Jahrezeiten Kampinski, which has had the distinguished honor of hosting famous faces like Elton John, Sophia Loran, Elizabeth Taylor, Queen Elizabeth II and even Sissi (Elisabeth of Bavaria), you’ll have the afternoon to explore the town.

A good way to spend your time might be to stroll down Maximilianstrasse and check out the luxury stores that line its pavement. Then take a quick stroll along the pedestrian Theatinerstrasse, towards Odeonsplatz, and prepare your taste buds for Maelu. The café and patisserie is adored by locals for its delectable miniature mousse cakes, macaroons and éclairs.

If you have the energy, finish your afternoon by taking a tour of the Munich Residenz — the former home of the Bavarian Royals. Admire the Antiquarium, a magnificent 66-metre long hall featuring antique sculptures and paintings, the Emperor’s Hall with impressive ceilings painted by Peter Candid, the marble floors, golden ceilings and silver reliefs of the Ornate Chapel and the ostentatiousness of the Ornate Rooms.

Travel Review: Luxury Tour of Germany & Austria, Salzburg, Munich, Berchtesgaden, Oberammergau, Dachau, Eagle's Nest & WWII Sites

Our travel agency set up the perfect trip!  My wife and I were coming to Germany to attend Oktoberfest and pick up her new BMW (through European delivery).  We were set up with these travel agent and they set up a perfect itinerary.  We spent 2 nights each in Munich, Oberammergau, and Berchtesgaden.  We also had a day trip to Salzburg since it is so close to Berchtesgaden.  At Oktoberfest, we were drinking Mass Biers and dancing on table our travel company set us up vouchers for  Mass Biers, a large appetizer tray, and large meals included).  We also had a private tour of Dachau and Munich by our guide who I cannot say enough about.  Extremely knowledgeable and personable, she was like a walking encyclopedia about the history and culture.  While in Bertchtesgaden, we had a private tour of Eagle's nest and WWII sites.  His knowledge of the history there is unparalleled and it was interesting to hear some of his own research and theories in WWII history at the sites.  During our day trip to Salzburg, it rained but my wife was happy to shop!  In Oberammergau (which we loved), we had tour of Linderhof palace, as well as, private tour of Neuschwanstein castle before the public is even allowed inside!  There was so much more!  Our travel company had everything set up, called us everyday on a phone they provided, and when the weather didn't cooperate they rearranged things to make it all work out.  Lastly, they even made restaurant recommendations everynight for us and made reservations for us.  We would of never have found these restaurants on our own.  We cannot thank them enough!

Travel Review: Germany Tour, Cologne, Munich, Bamberg, Oktoberfest

The travel agency team did an exceptional job tailoring an itinerary for my husband and I. Germany was part of a larger European trip which left us no choice but to arrive in Cologne and head towards Munich, as Oktoberfest was our final destination. Other than Oktoberfest we weren't really sure what we wanted to do in Germany other than explore, but the team took time to get to know our interests and designed the perfect trip. We stayed at several different hotels, all of them being exceptional as well as uniquely different. Accomodations wasn't the only place our travel agency shined, though. Their restaurant reccomandations were also spot on. They had us fill out a questionnaire ahead of time and from this they were able to identify our taste in food and even made local dish recommendations. Once we arrived in Germany our guides continued to get to know us and make recommendations and itinerary adjustments based on our interests. We were given many, many different choices for each segment of our trip and we worked with the travel agency staff to narrow down what worked best for our schedule and interests. We would highly recommend this agency and we look forward to traveling with them again in the future!

Review: Honeymoon in Europe, Italy & Germany, Rome, Munich, Positano, Sorrento, Pompeii, Oktoberfest, Cooking Class, Private Beach

Great experience. We booked our honeymoon through this agent and his company. Having never been to Italy or Germany before, we wanted someone who could give us some guidance along the way. We wanted to go to Oktoberfest and our hotel was within walking distance to that as well as the center of Munich. Our hotel in Rome was walkable to all the sights. He gave us a clear itinerary with handouts for each transfer, tour, and hotel stay along our trip. The transfers were always right on time and comfortable. We made a few changes to transfer times during the trip and he was accommodating to that as well. Our travel agency took a lot of the stress out of planning and traveling in Europe.

Only minor issue was that one of the transfers was unnecessary as our hotel in Rome was a 1 minute walk from the train station-- it actually took longer for him to drive us there. Also, the transfers get you to the airport or train station way too early. We had a few hours of waiting at the Naples train station, Rome airport, and Munich airport which could have been spent exploring the cities.

Hungary, Austria, Germany & Switzerland Tour Review: Budapest, Vienna, Zurich, Munich, Berlin, Oktoberfest, Local Cuisine
We booked a European City Tour with this travel company. We went to Budapest, Vienna, Zurich, Munich (for Octoberfest) and Berlin. We had numerous tours and activities planned in each city; river cruises, wine tastings, walking tours, food tours, beer tours to name a few. We also had transfers to and from the hotel to the train stations or airport. Everything went off without a glitch. The tour guides were all fun, informative and very easy to get along with. They added quite a lot to the trip. The travel agency was always available and the few times we did have a question, they responded with the answer usually within the hour. If you are planning a trip to Europe especially Eastern Europe (the travel agency is based out of Slovenia). We would highly recommend this travel company. They take away much of the stress of traveling so you can just concentrate on enjoying all the experiences.Thank you for a great adventure!Brian and Kitty October 5, 2023
