Jonathan (at this travel agency) arranged a terrific itinerary for our 10 day travels in Iceland and he was consistently communicative and accessible, by both phone and email, in arranging our trip with us. Every detail of our itinerary was listed for each day on the trip app. Jonathan updated it as necessary and included references to multiple potential sites to explore along our route. Having a WiFi hotspot in the 4WD Honda CRV rental, we were able to access the specifics for our accommodations, etc. as needed.
Scheduling a visit to the Blue Lagoon immediately after our arrival, where we were able to relax in the warm salt waters of the expansive geothermal pools, is an example of Jonathan’s attention to detail and his excellent choices for our adventures. Immersing ourselves there after 12 hours of travel felt magical and was restorative. It was an exciting introduction to Iceland.
The first night accommodations at a boutique hotel on the banks of a river in a small rural valley, is memorable for the pastoral setting and the nearby geothermal vents on the hillside. The small glass-enclosed restaurant overlooking the river at the hotel, served world-class gourmet food with an artistic presentation that was as impressive as the exceptional quality of the meals.
We spent the next 9 days circumnavigating the island on the “ring” road, experiencing exciting adventures, staying at small hotels and enjoying great dinners at restaurants that Jonathan had helped us select. While the weather was overcast or raining during half of our days there, it didn’t slow us down. The layers of outerwear and waterproof rain pants we brought served us well. We followed the planned itinerary of activities - snowmobiling on a glacier, riding Icelandic horses, whale watching, hiking for several hours on a glacier, exploring a lagoon full of floating icebergs from a Zodiac boat, hiking to waterfalls, and soaking in several geothermal pools as we traveled around the country. The landscapes were stunning, even on the overcast days, and we saw far more sheep and horses than people during our travels! The absence of darkness during the long summer days afforded us extra time to experience the natural beauty of our surroundings well into the evenings. Our last day in Iceland was spent walking around exploring the marina district and central Reykjavik prior to our departure the next afternoon. We were very appreciative to have found such an excellent travel agent to plan our adventures!

Time of the travel: August 21 through September 1, 2019Number of travelers: 3 couples - all seniorsCustom made itinerary: Worked with a travel planner to fine tune my itinerary with his knowledge and experience. He patiently worked with me to answer my countless questions to come up with an itinerary.Transportation: The van was big enough to accommodate all 6 of us with adequate luggage spaceFlexibility: Our planner was flexible and we left each morning after sufficient rest. Some days we left @ 9, 9:30 or even @ 10 AM. He stopped for a break at any time we requested, never rushing us.Sightseeing: All the sites that we had agreed upon and a few more, the ones he thought we should see. We saw beautiful waterfalls, Glaciers, Lakes, Craters, Rock Formations, hot springs, Landscapes, Museums, a Stone Museum. Did a Glacier hike, had a Glacier Lagoon boat ride, whale watching, visited a tomato farm. Took a dip in the Blue Lagoon.....Hotels: Him and I had come up with the hotels to stay in. All of them were clean, comfortable with decent breakfast. Some of them had small rooms and small bathrooms/showers, which I think is a norm in Europe.Lunches: We stopped for lunch whenever we wished. Some of the restaurants we stopped at were on my selected list, some he picked to cater to the need of vegetarian food of my fellow travelersDinners: Our travel planner was kind enough to join us for dinner in Reykjavik even though he had not seen his family for more than a week.Northern Lights: On Aug 31st night, the planner picked us up at 10 PM, drove about an hour out of Reykjavik to show us the Northern Lights. We could see waves of very faint very very light grey formations.with naked eye. He adjusted our cameras for appropriate time exposure and took pictures. These pictures were able to capture the different color lights. He dropped us back at the hotel around 1 AM and then went home. The bottom line: Our travel planner kept his promises - I had asked that he be the guide and the driver - He did that. He showed us everything we had agreed to and more. He was personable, never impatient, always answered our questions, had sense of humor, knew the history and geography of Iceland, never got lost, took the alternate route when required depending on the weather and wind conditions. It truly was a memorable trip.
