Dublin - Arrival in Dublin

Today sees you into the capital of incredible Ireland, a true world city that has taken its place among the literary centers of Europe. After arriving in the sleek and modern international terminal at Dublin International, you’ll be wowed by the luxuriousness of the Executive Caravelle that will take you all across this beautiful country, replete with space and amenities and featuring a knowledgeable and engaging driver who will be with you for all of your adventures.

The rest of the day is dedicated to exploring this fantastic metropolis, populated by a diverse and unforgettable citizenry of pub-goers and theatergoers, writers, wits, patriots, and poets. Enjoy the wide streets and graceful promenades of Dublin south of the River Liffey, including the elegant campus of Trinity College, the graceful and serene St. Stephen’s Green, and the stops for high culture and high fashion on Dawson, Kildare, and Grafton streets. You’ll cruise by Dublin Castle, an aged and rugged stone fortress dominating South Dublin and embodying the former might of the British Crown in Ireland, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the national church of Ireland, and Phoenix Park, central greenery which dwarfs Central Park and which received a Papal Mass in 1979.

And, of course, no trip to Dublin would be complete without visiting the storehouse of its most famous export, Guinness stout. Though no longer the site for brewing, the Storehouse features an excellent exhibit on the history of Guinness, its unique production methods, and a stunning conclusion as you enjoy a perfectly poured pint, served eight stories up with 360-degree views of Dublin and its environs.

Travel Review: Luxury Ireland Tour, Dublin, Galway, Kinsale, Kilkenny, Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher

From the first line of communication to boarding our plane in Dublin, our travel agency's perfection in planning made our vacation a perfect dream.

I found this agency through Zicasso, and after filling out our wish list, our agent emailed me back with the PERFECT itinerary. I didn’t have to make one change, and she nailed all areas I wanted to see, and offered several options for dining, excursions, sites, and must-see and do things. (They were also extremely patient, as it took us about 3 months to actually book due to busy schedules!)

The agency did not book flights but was helpful in helping us find flights and then worked with our flight schedule to finalize our itinerary. When we arrived in Dublin, we were met by our representative who was truly wonderful in making us feel welcome. He was friendly and chatted with us about things to do and see in Ireland, and made us feel very comfortable and relaxed, especially after traveling for about 25 hours. He advised us on the best way to get out of Dublin when we got our rental later in the week and pointed out places of interest on our drive to the hotel.

Upon arriving at the hotel (AMAZING), we were met by friendly staff, and since it was 9am, our room was not yet ready, so they sat us down so we could relax and enjoy breakfast. They provided us with a place to store our luggage and freshen up so we could explore Dublin a little while our room was being readied. Our stay at the hotel was simply outstanding, and made even better by a welcome gift from our travel agency, a chilled bottle of Sparkling wine, handwritten welcome card, and a scented candle!

Our rental car was delivered as promised (wonderful) and the process was simple and easy. From Dublin, we headed to Galway for a two-day stay (stayed at a modern and posh hotel with a spa and edgy and fun décor), had dinner at an Inn, which was spectacular and then spent an evening out in Galway City Center with the locals. An amazing place with tons of fun pubs and live music. We then headed to Killarney (stayed at a 5 stars, and luxurious resort again with a spa). In Killarney, we went to the Ring of Kerry and explored St MAry's Cathedral and Ross Castle. The town is beautiful, and the Muckross was in the Killarney National Forest-Absolutely beautiful.

After Killarney was Kinsale, where we stayed at a seaside boutique hotel and just gorgeous. On our first night, we stumbled into a restaurantand pub, great food, neat ambiance. We were also able to find laundry services as we were beginning to run low, and the town was easy to explore on foot. In Kinsale, our agent arranged dinner at a restaurant that was by far some of the best we had (and that’s pretty good, considering all the food in Ireland was fresh, locally sourced, and simply outstanding).

After Kinsale, we headed to Kilkenny for our last night. My only regret was not adding one more night to fully explore Kilkenny. It is a beautiful medieval town with some pretty amazing scenery, and we just didn't have enough time to see it all. We stayed at a very luxurious and nice hotel, and our last dinner at was delicious. I had fish and chips, and can still taste them!

All of our wishes, desires, and hopes were fulfilled during our trip. Our agent and the travel company team somehow knew exactly who we were and what we wanted, and then delivered perfectly. I would absolutely recommend this company for all of your booking needs. Thank you Zicasso for connecting us with them, and thank you to the team at our travel company for the vacation of a lifetime!

Ireland Vacation Review: Kinsale, Killarney, West Clare, Galway

We had a lovely 10 days on the West Coast of Ireland.

We visited Kinsale, Killarney, West Clare, and Galway. We spent one night in a castle, which was a special treat.

Zicasso’s travel operator was a delight to work with. She listened to our wishes and put together a trip that gave us what we were looking for.

We had an outstanding driver who gave us lots of insight and information as we drove through the countryside. He was extremely professional, kind, and flexible, wanting to give us the best experience possible. He was also a very safe and responsible driver, and we were relieved to not have to deal with the narrow roads, flooded roads, etc. When rain interfered with our itinerary, he came up with alternatives that made up for what we missed. By the end of the trip, it felt like we were traveling with an old friend.

One of the advantages of using a local travel agent was that he was able to reschedule some of our activities based on the weather and our level of energy. He made phone calls and was able to make changes that I don't think we could have done on our own.

The hotels our agent chose were in great locations. We asked to stay in places where we could easily walk to restaurants and shops, and she delivered. The staff at all of our hotels were amazing and the Irish breakfasts kept us going until dinner!

Travel Review: Family Trip to Ireland, Dublin, Galway, Adare, Killarney, Cork, Tralee, Dingle, Cliffs of Moher

Our first trip to Ireland - 12 days end of June-early July

This travel agent was welcoming, accommodating, and professional. She offered suggestions and made recommendations that made our trip to Ireland (visiting Dublin, Galway, Adare, Killarney/Dingle/Tralee, County Cork, and Kilkenny) extremely memorable. The accommodations were lovely and varied (an apartment for five of us in Dublin) then b & b's and hotels for my husband and I with our 22 year old daughter. Our private driver/guide was extremely knowledgeable and professional and made the trip around the Connemara Peninsula easy and adventurous (worthwhile but pricey.) The activity level was ideal, the restaurant recommendations from our guide were spot on, and the weather perfect (cooler in morning and evening but warmer in afternoon with occasional showers.) Comfy walking shoes and wearing layers a necessity. Our favorite places/sights were the private tour of Guinness Storehouse in Dublin (a must), the hiking around the Cliffs of Mohr,  watching sheepdogs, visiting the local pubs (enjoying Irish coffee with locals listening to music.). A surprise to us was how amazing the food was (YES) with  the best ice cream ever from local dairies. The natural greenery, topography, and views were breathtaking, and the locals were warm and welcoming (a plus having the same language). It's no wonder we fell in live with Ireland and the Irish! Must visit again.

Ireland Trip Review: Luxury 12 Day Tour of Ashford Castle, Killarney, Dublin
This was a tour that was over two years in the making as it was delayed a full year when the world stopped vacation travel due to Covid.  As it was, Ireland had only opened indoor dining and lifted a number of pandemic restrictions only weeks before we arrived in early September.  After landing in Dublin, our driver/guide met us (two couples traveling together) and stayed with us for 12 days on an anti-clockwise circuit of the Republic. (NOT including Northern Ireland).  From Connemara to Killarney to Kinsale through Cobh to Kilkenny and closing in Dublin, it was a spectacular visit and we felt quite spoiled in every way.  Our visit was focused on Irish history/culture and cuisine with a little golf thrown in.  The Irish people were happy to be back socializing in pubs and restaurants and were most welcoming to have tourists to chat with.  It was easy entering the country though the EU were making travel policy change recommendations for US travelers even on the eve of our arrival. It’s worthwhile to note that the EU policies were only recommendations.  Individual countries established their own Covid travel requirements.  Pandemic protocols throughout Ireland made us feel safe and comfortable.  In fact, Ireland was probably safer to visit than many states in the US, our home state included.  The Irish government publishes these protocols on a website which is regularly updated and more informative than the US embassy page for Ireland.
