Day 1

Dublin – Street Musicians and Gaelic Stories

Dublin is quick to impress Irish charm. Musicians find their place on the streets, strumming and singing throughout the day. Colorful pubs entice with their warm noises and inviting aromas as old cathedral spires stand above the city as if they are giants from the past looking down. You will hear Gaelic voices and strong accents, the sounds as memorable as the sights along the cobblestone central streets. Touch down in Dublin and you will be transferred to your boutique hotel. Nothing will be planned for the day as you arrive and settle in, but your guide can take you on an orientation tour, if you would like, to introduce you to the lively city. You might want to spend the evening at Temple Bar, the country’s most famous place for music and stories, or you can save that stop for another night if an early evening is better.

Detailed Description

Walking into a Gaeltacht bar, you can hear the distinctive rhythm of local music while traveling along a windswept coast you will find a serenity that only the Atlantic can provide. Cruising down a long driveway, you will set eyes on the castle you will be staying at for the night, and somewhere in the heart of the country, you can find sheep covered valleys and mountains shrouded in mist. Welcome to Ireland, a country of authentic moments and dazzling experiences, and an island with a big heart and a vibrant soul that gives every visitor an intimate local experience.

This 10-day tour captures the highlights of Ireland beginning in Dublin and departing from Shannon. With just over a week, you can comfortably cover the southern half of the island without having to forgo the easy-going Irish style. Spend two nights in four destinations including Dublin, Kinsale, Dingle, and Cong before a final night in old-world Adare. This is a private tour, and you will have a private guide throughout for lots of opportunities to customize the days to your energy and likings. Your guide can accompany you during the evenings should you wish, helping you to get involved with the Irish dancing and storytelling, especially in Dingle.

Dublin is compact and easy to explore in a couple of days, the highlights encompassing two towering cathedrals, the history-changing Book of Kells, lively Temple Bar, and streets dotted with local musicians. Traveling on to Kinsale, you will explore two key periods from Ireland’s history with the independence at Kilmainham Gaol plus the Munster kings and St Patrick in Tipperary. Kinsale is cute and relaxed, so take it easy and feel the energy of western Ireland, as well as the revolutionary forts. The route to Dingle is sublime, through Killarney National Park and many preconceptions you may have of Irish landscapes, with sheep roaming beneath misty mountains.

Dingle is in the Gaeltacht, the Irish-speaking region, and is a small town offering the most traditional local experiences, notably in the pubs. The Dingle Peninsula also has Ireland’s finest coastal road, Slea Head Drive more impressive and less touristic than the Ring of Kerry. More superlative sights come on day seven with the Cliffs of Moher, and The Burren visited on route to Cong, where you will spend two nights in a castle hotel. Move next to take the ferry to Inishmore, an untamed Aran island that smothers you with serenity. Adare is a relaxed final stop, easy to explore on your own, and full of charm. From Adare, you can depart from Shannon International Airport, rather than rerouting back to Dublin. Claire and her team from the travel agency provided us with the most fabulous vacation touring southern Ireland! We spent two weeks at a leisurely pace exploring much of the attractions, atmosphere and culture of Dublin, Cork, Kinsale, Killarney, the Dingle Peninsula, ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, the Burren, Galway, the Atlantic way, and Connemara! The cities were engaging, and the countryside was so beautiful. Many thanks to Claire and her team as all of our hotels and accommodations, along with our restaurant recommendations, we’re all perfect and we enjoyed everyone of our experiences! We were especially fortunate to have our driver and guide whom we would highly recommend to anyone seeking an individualized experience and he introduced us to Hurling and Gaelic football… So much fun to watch!

Travel Review: Luxury Ireland Tour, Dublin, Galway, Kinsale, Kilkenny, Killarney, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher

From the first line of communication to boarding our plane in Dublin, our travel agency's perfection in planning made our vacation a perfect dream.

I found this agency through Zicasso, and after filling out our wish list, our agent emailed me back with the PERFECT itinerary. I didn’t have to make one change, and she nailed all areas I wanted to see, and offered several options for dining, excursions, sites, and must-see and do things. (They were also extremely patient, as it took us about 3 months to actually book due to busy schedules!)

The agency did not book flights but was helpful in helping us find flights and then worked with our flight schedule to finalize our itinerary. When we arrived in Dublin, we were met by our representative who was truly wonderful in making us feel welcome. He was friendly and chatted with us about things to do and see in Ireland, and made us feel very comfortable and relaxed, especially after traveling for about 25 hours. He advised us on the best way to get out of Dublin when we got our rental later in the week and pointed out places of interest on our drive to the hotel.

Upon arriving at the hotel (AMAZING), we were met by friendly staff, and since it was 9am, our room was not yet ready, so they sat us down so we could relax and enjoy breakfast. They provided us with a place to store our luggage and freshen up so we could explore Dublin a little while our room was being readied. Our stay at the hotel was simply outstanding, and made even better by a welcome gift from our travel agency, a chilled bottle of Sparkling wine, handwritten welcome card, and a scented candle!

Our rental car was delivered as promised (wonderful) and the process was simple and easy. From Dublin, we headed to Galway for a two-day stay (stayed at a modern and posh hotel with a spa and edgy and fun décor), had dinner at an Inn, which was spectacular and then spent an evening out in Galway City Center with the locals. An amazing place with tons of fun pubs and live music. We then headed to Killarney (stayed at a 5 stars, and luxurious resort again with a spa). In Killarney, we went to the Ring of Kerry and explored St MAry's Cathedral and Ross Castle. The town is beautiful, and the Muckross was in the Killarney National Forest-Absolutely beautiful.

After Killarney was Kinsale, where we stayed at a seaside boutique hotel and just gorgeous. On our first night, we stumbled into a restaurantand pub, great food, neat ambiance. We were also able to find laundry services as we were beginning to run low, and the town was easy to explore on foot. In Kinsale, our agent arranged dinner at a restaurant that was by far some of the best we had (and that’s pretty good, considering all the food in Ireland was fresh, locally sourced, and simply outstanding).

After Kinsale, we headed to Kilkenny for our last night. My only regret was not adding one more night to fully explore Kilkenny. It is a beautiful medieval town with some pretty amazing scenery, and we just didn't have enough time to see it all. We stayed at a very luxurious and nice hotel, and our last dinner at was delicious. I had fish and chips, and can still taste them!

All of our wishes, desires, and hopes were fulfilled during our trip. Our agent and the travel company team somehow knew exactly who we were and what we wanted, and then delivered perfectly. I would absolutely recommend this company for all of your booking needs. Thank you Zicasso for connecting us with them, and thank you to the team at our travel company for the vacation of a lifetime!

Travel Review: Luxury Family Vacation in Ireland, Dublin, Kinsale, Kenmore, Dingle Peninsula, Ashford Castle, Falconry School

Zicasso helped us find this company and they helped us plan an amazing 12 night trip to Dublin, Kinsale, Kenmare, Dingle and Cong (Ashford Castle). We were so glad we opted for a chauffeur driven trip as we were able to enjoy the scenery with a local guide who know all things "Ireland", not to mention his ability to navigate the winding, narrow roads! Our driver made our trip so much more memorable - he took us to places off the beaten path and ensured our every comfort. Our agency's representatives are very helpful and a joy to work with. Our trip went off without a hitch and we would highly recommendthis company to anyone travelling to Ireland

Ireland Tour Review: Dublin, Galway, Kinsale, Dunquin, Falconry Experience, Burren National Park, Cliffs of Moher
My family used Zicasso, who then hooked us up with this travel company, using Julie as our travel agent. WE LOVED IT!!! It was the most amazing trip, and in the future, I can't imagine trying to put together a trip like this by myself. There is no way I would have know of even a quarter of the things to see were it not for our travel agent, and also the private driver she connected us with, who took us from Dublin to Galway. This trip was one we'd dreamed of for years, but hadn't been able to put together. I saw an ad for Zicasso (no, I'm not being paid for this review, just loved the service), and from there we got matched with an amazing travel company. They worked with us since last September, planning and adding all the things they thought we might like. We had tons of input and things we wanted to accomplish - not just sight seeing, but "experiences", as well as really fine dining, and the agency was fantastic. They put together a Dublin walking tour, a falconry experience, a food tour in Kinsale, going through caves in the Burren, as well as amazing dining at our hotel in Galway among others. I would not hesitate to use Zicassso again - we want to travel next year to southern Spain - and would definitely use Zicasso to help plan it.

Ireland Vacation Review: Kinsale, Killarney, West Clare, Galway

We had a lovely 10 days on the West Coast of Ireland.

We visited Kinsale, Killarney, West Clare, and Galway. We spent one night in a castle, which was a special treat.

Zicasso’s travel operator was a delight to work with. She listened to our wishes and put together a trip that gave us what we were looking for.

We had an outstanding driver who gave us lots of insight and information as we drove through the countryside. He was extremely professional, kind, and flexible, wanting to give us the best experience possible. He was also a very safe and responsible driver, and we were relieved to not have to deal with the narrow roads, flooded roads, etc. When rain interfered with our itinerary, he came up with alternatives that made up for what we missed. By the end of the trip, it felt like we were traveling with an old friend.

One of the advantages of using a local travel agent was that he was able to reschedule some of our activities based on the weather and our level of energy. He made phone calls and was able to make changes that I don't think we could have done on our own.

The hotels our agent chose were in great locations. We asked to stay in places where we could easily walk to restaurants and shops, and she delivered. The staff at all of our hotels were amazing and the Irish breakfasts kept us going until dinner!

We had a fabulous experience working with the travel agency. Conor, our travel planner was so knowledgeable, and really took the time to understand our interests and travel style in order to put together a perfect seven day itinerary for us.  Our hotels were all lovely and unique, our driver was amazing, and everything was planned flawlessly.  We stayed in Adare, Tralee, Kinsale and  Dublin, and visited so many gorgeous parts of the coast and countryside.
