Lakeside Palace

Stresa is a town that feels like a village on the banks of alpine Lake Maggiore. An unmistakable elegance sweeps through the streets and across the water. Nineteenth century buildings string along the waterfront and blossom against the surrounding mountainsides. Cobblestone streets create a hive around the historic center, culminating in the shade of Piazza Cadorna.

Our Italy tour agents arrange a private transfer to meet you at the airport in Milan. You and your family will then be whisked away into the mountains. Jade trees and the rugged mountainside encircle you until the scenery opens up to the marvelous charm of Lake Maggiore. The lake has a width of over six miles and an average depth of 580 feet. The rugged, rolling mountain peaks on the far side of the lake frame the water. The air is crisp with the fragrance of fern trees. You can see the outline of Isola Bella in the water, the small island near the shores of town, housing a grand palazzo and its lavish gardens.

You step into your elegant hotel located near the water’s edge. The kids say they feel like they have entered into a storybook. Even the lobby looks like it’s made for royalty. The beauty of the past comes to life in your hotel and along the quaint streets of Stresa.

Luxury Switzerland & Italy Vacation Review: Lucerne, Mürren, Montreux, Lake Como, Milan, Winery Visit, Cruise, 2-Week Trip

This travel company planned an excellent trip for our party of four to Lucerne, Mürren, and Montreux, Switzerland, and then a finale to Lake Como and Milan. We can’t say enough about the accommodations that were chosen for us. Stunning water and Mountain views. Locations were excellent.

We were given excellent guidance for tipping, packing, and all things travel. Dev and her team were available at all times to guide us through any unexpected or uncomfortable situation. Some favorite excursions were a charming visit to a family owned winery in Montreux for a tasting including fondue in a stone cottage with a wood fire. Also the cruise on Lake Como in a beautiful wood boat with a glass of wine. Stunning.Truly a trip of a lifetime!

Anniversary Review: France, Italy & Switzerland, Paris, Milan, Piedmont, Stresa, Lake Como, Cinque Terre, Santa Margherita, Lugano

Our travel company was very good and we have no concerns highly recommending them.   We would definitley use them again.   We had private drivers and guides during our entire 21 day trip.   Every one of them was on time and professional.  We only had one issue with one driver.   All the rest were fantastic.  The driver in question did not know the roads and had to turn around twice and bacially start over from our hotel.   Then we got lost when we finally arrived (45 minutes late) at our destination.   But he was so nice and apologetic, that we felt bad for him.

We loved the all the hotels except the one in the Piedmonte wine region.   It was a very nice room but the location was too isolated and no real view.  We had to eat at the hotel or take a long and pricey cab ride to Alba.   The food was delicious but the main restaruant did not change their menu in spite of them telling us it would be another menu.   And it was somewhat limited menu.   But they did serve us so many extra intriguing small bites (like French Laundry in Napa but at a much better price).

The other hotel rooms were just spectacular.   Especially our hotels in Stresa, Lake Como, and Santa Margarita.   The hotels in Paris and Milan were very good with great locations but cannot compare to the others.

We took 3 private boats tours.   All were fantastic.   And all the private tours and guides were amazing except the day in Lugano.   We should have been told that everything is closed on Sunday but the churches.  We could have easily changed days.   And also we had a 8 hour tour but the guide was only with us 2 hours and that was the confused driver so we had no idea how to fill the rest of our time.   Luckily the guide decided to go back to Como with us and told us what to do and see so that worked out.   However, if we would have know, we would not have gone to Lugano.   We hate to waste time in a car.   That is another reason we did not like the hotel in Piedmonte wine area.   We had to drive an hour or so to get to our winery tours or towns.

The Effiel tower dinner was fantastic but we had no view.   That was very disapointing as we were celbrating our 50th wedding anniversary.

And lastly in Milan, we were expecting to see the "Last Supper" painting.   The guide told us that day we did not have tickets.   The two things I said I wanted to see there was the Dumo and the painting.   And I told them that early on in our planning.  Somehow that information was not gicen to us.  Our guide was extremly knowledgeable of her city.  We did not know that we had to catch a cab back to our hotel.  Since it was our last day, we had just enough euros left for the guide's tip.   So she received a smaller one than we plannedbecuase we had to pay for the cab.   At no other time on the trip, we were responsible for getting back to the hotel on our own.

Travel Review: Luxury Northern Italy Vacation, Venice, Lake Garda, Lake Como, Bellagio, the Dolomites, the Alps

The trip was planned perfectly. It was exactly what we wanted. Hotels and restaurants were great. We recommend staying at the Spluga Hotel in Lake Como, Piccola Vela in Lake Garda, and Gran Duca di York in Milan. Great hotels, wonderful stay, and great locations.

Luxury Switzerland Trip Review: Lucerne, Interlaken, Zermatt, Zurich, Boat Ride to Mount Pilatus, Chocolate Making Tour
This travel team designed and executed a wonderful trip to Switzerland for us.  Defined as a best of Switzerland on 6-Days, we went from Lucerne to Interlaken to Zermatt and back to Zurich.  They scheduled a tour of Mt. Pilatus via a boat ride on Lake Lucerne, a tour and cholocate making session at a local store in Lucerne, a trip to Jungfraujoch in Interlaken and a visit to the Matterhorn in Zermatt. Everyone we dealt with from this travel team was polite and professional, responding promptly to any questions or concerns we expressed.  We were extremely pleased with the accommodations and restaurants they recommended.  The hotels were lovely and top notch.  Rooms were well located with beautiful views of the countryside. Their attention to detail in conveying all transportation specifics was greatly appreciated as there were many train transfers required for this trip and we don't use public transportation in our part of the U.S.  They made it fool-proof for us.We wouldn't hesitate to use this team again and would highly recommend them to anyone wishing to plan a trip.

Travel Review: European Tour, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Zermatt, Lucerne, Chamonix, Junfraujoch, Matterhorn, Lake Cruise

We had a fun trip to Switzerland that we worked with this travel agency on.  The logistics arranged by our travel agency worked well with one exception: They had planned - and we had approved - a challenging transition from Zermatt to Lucerne which included a 6:37 AM departure via train in order to make a noon lake cruise.  We ended up cutting our stay in Zermatt a day short so we could travel to Lucerne in a more leisurely fashion.  It did cost us an additional stay in the Lucerne hotel.

We had a significant problem with the initial travel agent assigned to work with us.  After giving up on it working, we contacted the head of the travel agency and reported this.  She assigned another person to work with us, although we saw evidence of the initial person's continued involvement behind the scenes - a bit frustrating.

We wanted to see the most dramatic natural beauty of Switzerland - and the border town Chamonix, France -, and we did.  The gondola ride up to Aiquille du Midi and the scenery we saw from there did not disappoint.  One of the most spectacular days we've ever had.  If you don't have trouble with heights or claustrophobia, we highly recommend.

While seeing the Matterhorn in Zermatt was impressive, we didn't care much for the ultra-touristy Zermatt. The arid, brown climate there was a stark contrast to Chamonix and Lucerne.  It should be added that Lucerne is very touristy too, but much prettier than Zermatt.

Luxury Italy & Switzerland Trip Review: Lake Lucerne, Mt. Pilatus, Lake Como, Venice, Positano, Wines & Cicchetti Tour
Our 23 day trip began on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland and gradually progressed south to Positano Italy. We got very lucky and had bright sunshine every day but one with un-seasonally warm temperatures for October. Everything went so very smoothly for the 4 of us and our travel company stayed in contact daily to make sure we wanted for nothing.
