Rome – Arrive and Explore the Vibrant, Bustling Streets of Rome

Rome contains an ambiance of historical importance that fades to the hidden regenerative gardens of lavish villas. Ancient monuments abound and sensational aromas, from espresso to fresh blossoming flowers, drift through the streets. Your flight will land at Fiumicino Airport where your private transfer will await your arrival. Once in the city, settle into the comforts of your luxurious hotel with a view of the impressive dome of St. Peter’s Basilica. You will have a chance to freshen up before your guide will meet you in the lavish lobby and escort you to the neighborhood of Trastevere at the Villa Farnesina. The estate once belonged to a Renaissance banker eager to impress the elites of the city.

The villa overlooks the banks of the Tiber River and includes frescoes painted by the celebrated Renaissance master Raphael. The Sale di Galatea is named for the fresco Raphael painted to depict the nymph Galatea as she flees from the infamous Cyclops. The figure of the nymph shows her beauty covered in a light blue dress and connects her image to the legend of reference. Your guide will lead you from the open halls of the villa to the top of the Spanish Steps in front of Santa Trinita dei Monti for the panoramic view that sweeps over the Vatican. You will be swept up into the feelings of Rome, and remain active as you embrace the endless beauty of the Eternal City.

Travel Review: Italy Vacation, Rome, Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Colosseum, Truffle Hunt, Cooking Class

Everything was fabulous, from the first arrival in Rome to the end it was great. All the drivers were professional and friendly. The tour guides knowledgeable and very pleasant. We wanted to thank and give kudos to all of our tour guides.

In Florence, our guide was very educated and made the walking tour so enjoyable. You have to see the David with this guide!

In Venice, our guide were a great team-handing us off with ease and again so knowledgeable and fun.

In Cinque Terria- thanks to our guide for a great time, walking the paths thru the gardens was so enjoyable.

Rome - Our guide did an outstanding job of navigating the crowded lines and showing us so much in books before we got into the Coliseum or Vatican. She too was very fun to be with

Choice of hotels- very close to everything, easy to get to and very accommodating.

Luxury Anniversary Vacation Review: Italy, Florence, Venice, Amalfi Coast, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Verona, Naples, Vatican, Pompeii

I have to begin by saying I've told everyone how pleased I am with Zicasso and the travel agent they recommended.  I also have to say that I was very hesitant to book my trip with a company that I had only communicated with via email.  Turns out I had nothing to worry about.

The initial response I received from my agent was immediate and continued right up until our actual trip while we were in Italy.  I let her know where I wanted to go, what I wanted to see, told her I was interested in a mix of arranged tours and time on our own.  She listened and also made great suggestions.  I honestly can't say enough about how wonderful she was to work with, along with her co-worker.

They arranged for all our hotels, transportation and tours.  Every driver and guide we had was top notch.  They made a point of keeping us in small groups, sometimes only the two of us and the guide.

Our 19 day trip began in Venice where we were met at the airport and driven to a private water taxi.  That driver walked us out of the boat and made sure we knew how to find our hotel. Our departure was just as seamless.  A guide met us in our lobby, walked with us to the water taxi, came into the train station with us and explained the board to us, pointing out our train and track number.

We continued on to Verona, Cinque Terre, Tuscany, Florence, Naples, the Amalfi Coast and Rome.  Since we weren't in any one place longer than three days it was extremely helpful to have guides, even for just a couple of hours to orient us, which saved us a lot of time.  We had guides for a walking tour in Venice, a morning in Cinque Terre traveling with us between the villages, the Accademia in Florence, Pompeii, an Amalfi Coast drive and the Vatican in Rome.  Every one of the them was passionate and proud and we learned so much.  We had a car in Tuscany and saw many other places on our own, Lucca, Pisa, San Gimignano, Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano.  We stayed in Sorrento, spent one day on Capri and another full day on a tour to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, which included a short boat ride along the coast.  Spectacular.  Our only tour in Rome was the Vatican but we saw all the other major sites on our own, taking the metro, bus, taxis and walking, lots of walking.  It was the perfect mix of free time and arranged tours.

And, they also worked with our children who surprised us with a dinner in Venice for our anniversary after a gondola ride!

One great advantage to having your tour guide in the country you're visiting, you're in the same time zone.  We had one mishap with a train and were able to talk to them right away.  Other than that, everything worked liked clockwork.

I would definitely use them again and have told everyone I know what a wonderful job they did for us.

Luxury Italy & Germany Vacation Review: Munich, Oktoberfest, Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, St Mark's Basilica, Doge's Palace
Fist off we called Zicasso and got paired up with Luana. Luana took some notes and got back to us very quickly and put everything together for us. We started our trip in Munich for 3 days and she set up a great day for us at Oktoberfest. We started our day with a guide and us we were the only ones he told us much of the history of Munich then took us for a traditional barvarian breakfast. Our breakfast was white sausage a pretzel with dipping sauce and a fresh wheat beer. He then took us to a brewery and toured us around before anyone else showed up just us 3 then we sat and had snacks and another fresh beer. We then made our way to Oktoberfest and had a table for 4 hours with plenty of German food and yes litres of fresh beer with plenty of singing and prosting. After our time in tent we went and checked out the fair we had a ball definitely highlight of Germany. We set up a trip to Dachau concentration camp in muich that was very somber and humbling but well worth it. Anyhow after that we did a short flight to Venice and we're blown away with how the city operates. The infrastructure is incredible no cars or bicycles just walking and checking out ancient places  places. We did a tour of Central Venice, St Mark's basilica, Doge's Palace where we walked through the bridge of sighs into the prison on the other side of the canal, very interesting. We did a private gondola ride that was really cool to see the inner parts of the city. Then we did the 3 island tour of the venetian lagoon also really cool. Then we went to Florence for 5 nights where we did awesome food tours saw David and a cooking class that we made homemade lasagna, mushroom souffle and biscotti. After cooking we had it all for dinner along with plenty of wine very fun and met all kinds of great people. I'd say the highlight though was the trip to Tuscany were we visited a winery and had lunch Bella, we did a hiking tour in Cinque Terre which looking back wouldn't have done long day and a lot of walking 14 hours we got back to hotel late then had to get up early to catch train to Rome. Anyhow got to see Cinque Terre which is beautiful and has great seafood just wrong day for such an adventure. When we got to Rome had a great twilight food tour that was really awesome the next day did the Colosseum and ancient Rome tour that was breathtaking. Then an evening of drinks and golf cart tour were we met another couple and ended up having dinner with them after tour a fulfilled day. Then the last day did the Vatican tour what can I say breathtaking. Then we headed home with lots of great stories and memories.

Italy Trip Review, Roman Ruins, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, Borghese Gallery & Fine Dining, Piazzas & Fountains
We have used Zicasso for several trips and had positive experiences.  Our Zicasso trip planner for our Italy trip did not disappoint.  This trip happened because our friends rented a villa in Tuscany and asked us to spend a week with them.  My husband and I have traveled abroad extensively but never visited Italy so a first for us.  We decided to add a week in Rome and that is where our trip planner, with this travel company, came in.  We feel so fortunate to find a trip planner who understood our needs and provided personal service.  We even met our planner while in Rome.  Above all, the planner was watching out for us the whole time. She always texted to make sure we connected with our drivers and tour guides and weren't left stranded. I felt like she would be there instantly to help us out with any calamity that could have occurred. We consider ourselves independent travelers and not inclined to partake in group tours.  So we asked the trip planner for help with private guided tours of the two major sites in Rome where we wanted to optimize the experience but avoid crowds and long lines. She arranged for private guided tours of the Roman ruins and the Vatican with two different guides who were both knowledgeable and savvy in showing us the best of these historic sites.  Our planner also located an apartment for us at a reasonable cost in a great location, within walking distance of St. Peter's Basilica, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain.  Our planner also helped us with getting tickets to the Borghese Gallery, restaurant reservations and private transfers to/from the airport and train station. While we could have cobbled together these arrangements on our own, it was definitely worthwhile to have this trip planner take care of that for us.  It was a huge time saver and we trusted our planner's advice. It was just what we needed.

Luxury Italy Vacation Review: Rome, Florence, Venice, Pompeii, Amalfi Coast, Vatican, Vasari Corridor

We had a wonderful family trip to Italy.  We had a small group of 7 travelling. It was the first overseas trip for my 3 nieces.   Our agent was fantastic.   She was very responsive to our needs and planned an itinerary that was full of guided tours, but left plenty of time to explore on our own. We went to Rome, Pompeii, Amalfi, Florence and Venice.  The hotels in the 3 cities were all in good locations for walking.  All of the guides that provided the private tours for our little group were all very knowledgeable and friendly.  It was nice having private tours with skip the line access to the museums.   The only negative thing I can say is that the Vatican Museum was very over crowded and made it hard to see as much as we would have wanted to see.  However, that does not reflect negatively on our agent or the company since that is out of their control.  We still enjoyed visiting the Vatican and Museum and is a must see for anyone going to Rome.

On the recommendation of our agent, we drove down to the Amalfi Coast after our visit to Pompeii.   That was well worth it.  That area is so beautiful and we all agreed we would like to spend more time there.

We had beautiful weather the first half of the trip.   However, upon arrival in Florence and Venice, the weather did not cooperate and we had rain and cooler temperatures.  We had not packed for that type of weather, so we were all a little chilly the last couple of days.  However, we did not let that dampen our enthusiasm or keep us from getting out and seeing things.  I will definitely pack better in the future.

Overall, I was very pleased with our agent and the services our agents provided.  Everything went flawlessly and effortlessly for us thanks to our Italy travel agents. We would definitely use their services again if/when we go back to Italy.
