Rome – Arrive in Rome for a Fascinating Introductory Highlights Tour
The beauty of Rome derives from the combination of haunting ruins and inspiring artwork with vibrant life filling the piazzas with an indelible culture shaped over more than 2,500 years. Your flight will land at Fiumicino Airport, where your private transfer will greet you upon arrival in Rome. The historical legacies of the city form a remarkable skyline spreading from church spires to tiled rooftops, medieval bell towers to the ancient dome of the Pantheon. The aroma of traditional Roman cuisine emanates from trattorie filled with roast pig and freshly made pasta topped with black pepper and pecorino cheese. After settling into the comforts of your centrally located accommodation, your guide will meet you in the evening ready to lead you on an orientation of Rome through the piazzas and fountains for which the architecture is famous.
Baroque palaces border the gorgeous cobblestone space of Piazza Navona alongside charming cafes and working street artists. The public square took shape in the 15th century atop the 1st-century BC Domiziano stadium. Gian Lorenzo Bernini created the stunning Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi in the 17th century as an ornate work depicting allegorical representations of the Nile, Ganges, Danube, and Rio de la Plata, the rivers on the world’s four known continents at the time. The soaring obelisk stands at the center of the four river gods representing the power of the Papal State surrounded by doves, the symbol of the Pamphili. The feature was initially brought to Rome in the 1st century AD during the reign of emperor Domitian.

When we started planning our trip to Italy, I knew I wanted to work with a travel agent—specifically, someone who specialized in Italy and was based there. After reaching out to several agencies and reviewing their responses, we chose Zicasso and, more specifically, our travel agent. She is based in Milan and from my very first interaction with her, I knew we had made the right choice.
Our trip could not have been more perfect. Our agent put a lot of thought into every location and planned activity. At the outset, we had a few discussions with her about what we wanted from the trip and, after that, we were happy to leave most of the details in her capable hands. Our goal was to explore mid-to-northern Italy and everything—from the hotels and tours to the free time and transportation—was beautifully organized.
Our 11-night trip started in Milan and ended in Florence, with overnight stays in Milan (one night), Lake Como (three nights), Venice (three nights), and Florence (four nights). Initially, I was hesitant about staying at Lake Como for three nights, but our agent encouraged me to do a little research. I’m so glad she did, as it turned out to be incredible. We had more self-guided time at Lake Como, which was perfect as we adjusted to the time change. In Venice, our itinerary became more structured, but we still had plenty of time for our own explorations. By the time we reached Florence, we had activities and tours planned for every day, which was just what we wanted.
A highlight for my family was a full-day trip into Tuscany, where we visited San Gimignano, an organic vineyard in Chianti, and finished with a tour of Siena. Our day trip to Rome allowed us to see the main attractions and we concluded the journey with a tour of Florence and the Accademia Gallery. Every tour our agent arranged was spot on.
Throughout our trip, she was wonderfully communicative—always available when we had questions, but never intrusive. She even helped us with a couple of last-minute requests: booking a hotel in Milan for one night and arranging train tickets to Verona for an impromptu visit to Juliet’s balcony. Whenever we needed something, she was there.
When we return to explore the mid-to-southern part of Italy, there’s no question that we’ll be asking her to plan our trip again. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a seamless, thoughtfully curated Italian adventure.

We had a wonderful trip. We started off dealing with a canceled train on the arrival day due to a strike, but you had back-up train tickets even before we arrived in Rome. The drivers were all on time and very courteous. The drivers in Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast were exceptional. The driver from Naples to Sorrento was very nice and helpful; however, his car smelled of smoke and was not very clean. The hotels in Florence and Rome were great, but the Sorrento hotel was not as nice. You spoiled us with the standards in Florence and Rome.
Our one suggestion for Capri involves time management. While no one can predict the crowds, I would suggest notifying your travelers that getting to Anacapri will take a long time, either by taxi or bus. Our group from the boat took an hour and 20 minutes to get to Anacapri by bus. The trip back to Marina Grande was an hour. There are no direct buses to and from Anacapri and Marina Piccola. My wife and I then walked to Marina Piccola since waiting for a bus would have made us late for the boat. The others in the group waited for taxis in Anacapri and we still beat them back to the boat, even though we walked from Marina Grande to Marina Piccola. Four hours is just not enough time to go up to Anacapri to ride the chair lift and get back. This was the only time we felt rushed during our trip.
We would like to thank you for a wonderful trip and would recommend your agency to others.

Our Zicasso travel agent and her team created the most incredible experience for us. She tailored our trip to match exactly what we asked for. Every personal guide was exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. Every transport pick-up was seamless; our driver was waiting for us with our name on a plaque, so we had absolutely zero stress.
We enjoyed Rome, with personal guides to the Colosseum and Vatican City. We then went to Positano and got to experience a private boat ride to the Island of Capri, and the next day, we had a private cooking lesson with our chef, with door-to-door service.
Next was Tuscany, where we had the most amazing day touring medieval towns and wineries with our exceptional guide. And, finally, we ended in Venice, with no plans... we just got lost wandering the beautiful streets, enjoying the food, drinks, and shopping.
I highly recommend using Zicasso and our travel agent's team. We had an absolutely life-changing vacation and will use her again!

We had the pleasure of working with Zicasso’s travel agents to create the perfect Italian adventure. I had quite a few specific requests, from travel logistics to hotel preferences, and they were incredibly patient and collaborative, offering multiple variations of the itinerary until it matched exactly what we envisioned.
Our journey began in Venice, where we were seamlessly picked up by a private driver, transferred to a water taxi, and dropped directly at our hotel. After a wonderful stay, we were taken by private driver to the train station for our ride from Venice to Florence, our one and only train trip, as we opted (based on their smart recommendation) for private transportation for the rest of our travels to avoid potential delays and enjoy added convenience.
From Florence, we were driven into the Tuscan hills, where we experienced magical wine tastings, vineyard tours, olive oil tastings, and unforgettable meals with wine pairings.
Next, our private driver brought us to Pompeii, where we enjoyed a fascinating tour with our private guide, and then continued on to Rome. In Rome, we loved the private golf cart tour of the city’s major landmarks, as well as a delightful cooking class that was arranged for us; it was a real highlight!
Finally, we traveled by private driver to Sorrento. From there, we had a breathtaking driving tour of the Amalfi Coast, a lemon farm tour, and an amazing day trip to Capri. Every detail was thoughtfully planned and executed.
Summary:
Planning and Itinerary Creation: Zicasso’s consultants made the entire process easy and stress-free. They worked closely with us to perfect the itinerary and were always receptive to changes and feedback.
Hotels: My sister and I requested adjoining rooms and were provided with beautiful family suites throughout the trip. Each hotel was ideally located, comfortable, and well-appointed, with all the amenities we needed.
Transportation: Every transfer was smooth and punctual. The private drivers were professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. (A special shoutout to our driver in Florence/Tuscany – he was the best!)
Communication: Throughout our trip, the travel company’s team was always accessible. Whether we needed to make adjustments or had a question, they handled everything promptly, allowing us to relax and fully enjoy our vacation.
We spent just over two unforgettable weeks in Italy and it was absolutely perfect, all thanks to the hard work, attention to detail, and excellent communication from Zicasso’s travel company! I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again for future adventures.

We had a fantastic time and Zicasso's tour operator did an excellent job organizing every detail of our trip. Drivers and guides were always punctual, and the itinerary was perfectly balanced—full days, without ever feeling rushed.
Some real highlights for us were Herculaneum, the Pantheon, the Vatican, and our unforgettable Capri boat tour. Our guide brought Pompeii's history to life in a way that made it feel like stepping back in time and the Naples street food tour was delicious and nostalgic—her pizza fritta instantly took me back to the calzones I grew up with in Niles, Ohio. Our driver was with us for several days and made every transfer feel effortless.
There was a small hiccup at the very end with a trip planner, but it was minor compared to the overall quality of the trip. The organization, communication, and attention to detail throughout made this a truly memorable experience and we wouldn’t hesitate to book with this tour agency again. We had a fantastic time and the tour company did an excellent job organizing every detail of our trip.
