Rome – Arrive in the Eternal City for an Immersive Historical Tour

Rome is a city that has survived for thousands of years as it evolved with the times, from ancient empire to the capital of a contemporary European nation. The beauty of the past remains a vibrant part of the city’s present. Your private transfer will meet you at Rome Fiumicino Airport upon your arrival and escort you into the historical city center of Rome. Enjoy the time to settle in with the luxuries of your accommodation, complete with a terrace looking out to the grandeur of the city’s skyline with the many domes and church spires. Your view will open to the Spanish Steps, an elegant 17th-century stairway that connects Piazza di Spagna to the Pizza Trinita dei Monti.

Your guide will meet you in the lobby eager to show you the pleasures of Rome in great detail, from the Trevi Fountain to the beauty of Piazza Navona, a Renaissance square bordered by opulent palaces. Painters congregate around the edges of the cobbled piazza to capture the light and shadows as they drift across the palatial facades. You can join a painter for a lesson in Italian artistry, using watercolors to imitate the beauty of the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, a 17th-century fountain constructed under the patronage of Pope Innocent X, and designed by master craftsmen Bernini. The fountain represents the four main rivers of the world with godlike characters, featuring the Nile, Ganges, Danube, and Rio de la Plata as an obelisk towers above the fountain, rising out of its center.

Detailed Description

Life and lifestyle go hand-in-hand in Italy as you walk along the ruins of an ancient civilization and then bask in the sunlight as it spreads across the hills of the Mediterranean coastline. Vineyards blanket the countryside, and olive orchards change to citrus groves with a range of scenery to discover every day. Medieval towns rise above the hills, and seaside villages shine with brilliant colors that emanate from historical ceramic tiles. Your custom tailored tour will lead you through the majesty of Italy to step beyond the iconic monuments and dip into the pleasures of Rome, Tuscany, and the Amalfi Coast.

Your journey will begin with your arrival at Rome Fiumicino Airport. Your private transfer will escort you to your luxurious hotel in the historical city center and overlooks the Spanish Steps. Enjoy an introductory tour of the city to take in the rich history of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance that leads to the preserved palaces of today. At Piazza Navona, you can try your hand at painting with a local artist as you attempt to capture the light of the fountains. The next day, you will enjoy a full day private tour of Vatican City and Ancient Rome. Indulge in the opulent artifacts of the Vatican Museums and St. Peter’s Basilica for the morning, and then in the afternoon, continue to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill and then witness the intense training regiment of a Roman gladiator before the tour’s end.

The next day, you will leave the glories of Rome behind for the beauty of Tuscany. En route to the historical spa town of Montecatini, you will stop at Orvieto, built upon volcanic rock and overlooking the Umbrian countryside. Wander through the ancient grounds and along the unique paths before you traverse the emerald Tuscan landscape. Venture to Florence next for a full day excursion where you will embrace the Renaissance spirit embodied in the palaces, streets, museums, and churches of the city, including a visit to see Michelangelo’s David and the Uffizi Gallery. Treat yourself to a gelato tour, first to taste the celebrated dessert, and then with a quick course to learn the art of crafting the distinctive flavors. Move on to travel next to Pisa for an exploration of a city once considered the most powerful maritime Republic on the Mediterranean.

Continue to Umbria to explore the ascending cobbled streets of historical Assisi, home to the Basilica of St. Francis. Your private transfer will escort you next to the bustling city of Naples, often referred to as the “Birthplace of Pizza.” Enjoy your discovery of the hidden charms of the old metropolis before your privately guided tour of the preserved city of Pompeii. The following day,  board your ferry from the town of Amalfi to visit the enchanting island of Capri. Traverse the cobbled streets along the two main towns, visit the ancient villas, relish the panoramic views, and delight in a private cooking class to celebrate the Mediterranean flavors of the island. Move on the next day to savor the splendor of the Amalfi Coast.

You can choose to explore the Trail of the Gods with its views of the coastline, or you could opt to visit Conca dei Marini to see the Emerald Grotto. You could also spend time traveling along the coast to find distinctive culture in each town, including the ceramic wares of Vietri. The following day, wander along the serene streets of Sorrento before you return to Rome to bask in the remaining time of your Italian getaway. Your private transfer will meet you at your hotel the next morning and escort you to Rome’s international airport for your flight home. You could opt to extend your stay in Italy and visit Venice or travel south to Sicily, each offering a unique view of the past and present cultures of the country.

Review: Italy Family Vacation, Rome, Tuscany, Florence, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Positano, Pompeii, Pisa, Vatican Papal Mass

Our family of five just got back from the most wonderful vacation in Tuscany and Rome.  Our agent crafted a set of amazing experiences for our family from the private tour guides to Florence, Pisa and Lucca; a private wine tasting lunch at the Capannelle Winery and vineyards in Chianti; tickets to the Papal mass at the Vatican; to a tour beneath the church of San Clemente to see the excavations of a byzantine and then a Roman street neighborhood; a day excursion to the Amalfi coast to visit Positano, Sorrento and Pompeii; and more! Our agent and the guides found excellent restaurants from a simple salumeria where the locals ate to some high end restaurants.  The hotels were right in the center of Florence – on the piazza della Repubblica - and Rome – between the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps.  Our agent was attentive to our plans and made excellent suggestions.  Everything went extremely smoothly.  All the guides drivers were very friendly, spoke English and were very knowledgeable about art, history and the local culture.  We saw so much every day because everything was so well planned.  Simply the best travel experience ever!

Italy Family Vacation Review: Rome, Florence, Venice, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi Coast, Naples, Mt Vesuvius, Glass Blowing Class

WOW!  Where do we start.  It was a fantastic family vacation.  From start to finish, we couldn't ask for a better scripted trip.  Our travel agent, was responsible for our itinerary for the entire trip; boy were we glad we've used their services.  They were pure angels holding our hands the entire trip.  Our travel agency would check and remind us of our itineraries on a daily basis.  It really felt as if they were right next to us.  Thank you to our agency!

We started out in Venice for 3 nights, travel to Florence for 3 more, then to Sorrento  via Pompeii 3 there as well, then to Rome for final 3 nights.

Once, we arrived in Venice, our contact met us at the airport to guide us to our hotel.  I highly recommend it since it's not an easy place to navigate on your own the first day.  After checking in, we met our tour guide for our first guided tour.  It was a walking tour of city of canals.  Just beautiful!  Next morning, we met our guide again but for Burano & Murano.  We loved the different pace of these islands.  After completing our tour we met our instructor at his glass blowing studio for a hands on experience, just lovely, follow by a Gondolier Class and Food Tour.  It was perfect way to finish the day.  On the third day, we took a one hour train ride to Verona, birth place of Romeo and Juliet.  Our tour guide met us and showed us around town and its history.  It was an wonderful place to visit.  Upon returning from Verona, we had the evening to ourselves.  We started out walking around to explore.  Needless to say we got lost but that was for the best.  It gave us the opportunity to explore the city and see how the locals lived.

Florence was our second stop.  We met our guide for the tour of the city including Santa Croce church.  Following day we visited the Accademia Gallery & Uffizzi Museum which is a must when in Florence.  On the third day, we had a lovely day trip to Pisa.  Little bit of a bus ride but wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Sorrento was next on the agenda.  But first, we stopped at Pompeii.  Our guide, an archaeologist, met us and gave us the tour of the city once buried in ashes.  What a great experience!  Our guide was so enthused to share his knowledge that we felt as if we were living in Pompeii at its height.  Afterwards, we had lunch at a wine farm on Mt. Vesuvius.  Lovely family run vineyard.  The whole day was outstanding.  For the second and third day, we decided to see the coast by sea and land.  Both were different and both were gorgeous.  Visited Capri and swam in golf of Naples first by sea then drove to different towns along the coast including Positano, Amalfi, and Revello on the second.  It was a nice relaxing break.

Our final destination was Rome.  We had an general overview tour of the city on the first day.  It was good in a sense it gave us time to get our baring straight.  The second day we met our guide for the tour of the Vatican.  You can visit the Vatican a dozens of times and still not have enough time to see all it has to offer.  In the evening, we had the Colosseum tour.  Definitely one of the highlights.  The last day we had all to ourselves.  We ended up walking around to visit the Spanish steps the Trevi fountain and many more.  We wanted to take in as much as possible.  Even though the trip was 2 weeks, it was too short.  By the end of the trip, our whole family fell in love with this county and we all looked at each other and said can we live here.

Overall, it was an outstanding trip that we can not even begin to describe.   Without the help of our agency, I don't think it would've been possible.  They made sure that every little details were taking care of.  For anyone, who's interested in Italy, please look up this company.

Travel Review: Anniversary Trip to Italy, Rome, Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Positano, Truffle Hunt, Cooking Class, Food Tour

Locations Visited: Venice, Verona, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Pienze, Rome, Pompeii, Positano

My husband and I planned this trip for our 10-year anniversary. I’m a person with high expectation and this travel agency exceeded all my expectations. The entire trip was dream.

We opted for personalized tours and transport for 95% of our trip. All of our drivers were wonderful. They arrived on time and made sure we made it to all of our destinations without issue. They had the contact information for the tour guides we were meeting. Upon arrival to our first hotel, a local cell phone and gift were given to us. Having the iPhone during our trip made any needed communication with our agent and his team a breeze. In addition, we used the phone apps for navigation throughout the cities we visited. We made a last-minute request for an additional private transport, and our agent was able to make it happen. We greatly appreciated their customer service.

We participated in a several unique experiences while in Italy. We went truffle hunting in Pienza, which was amazing. After, we were served a meal that highlighted truffles and the cheeses made locally. In addition, we did a cooking day in Rome. This was a private cooking class where we made pasta, several sauces, and appetizers. The one disappointment is that we never received the recipes from the chef (we were told by the chef that they would be emailed to us). However, this is a knock on the chef and not our travel agent. Once the class was done, we were served a meal in a private garden area. Lastly, we did a food walking tour in Rome. This was an amazing way to find local cuisine that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. A wonderful experience.

All of our tour guides were excellent. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and familiar with the cities. We had one guide that really went into the details and reasons for expressions in the art. We didn’t care for that, but we didn’t specify that ahead of time or to the guide. It was wonderful seeing her excitement and passion for all of the amazing working works of art and sculpture that we saw.

Overall, I would highly recommend this travel agent and his team if you are traveling to Italy!! You will not be disappointed. We gave him our wish list of activities, accommodation preferences, etc. ahead of time and he made sure we got them all! Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable trip. If we are able to return to Italy, you will be hearing from us.

Travel Review: Italy Tour, Rome, Positano, Florence, Amalfi Coast, Siena, San Gimignano, Venice, Naples, Pompeii, Capri, Wine Tour
Our travel specialist truly did a fantastic job planning a 12-day dream trip to Italy for my wife, 18-year-old daughter and me. Early on, she provided suggested itineraries and options to fit our time frame and budget and then communicated frequently with us by phone and email to fine tune it. She was patient during the planning stage when we were at times indecisive. She arranged for travel insurance as well. Before the trip, she mailed us a comprehensive package with all the information and vouchers/tickets/travel tips we would need and scheduled a call with us to walk through each of the items in the packet. We were more impressed when we arrived in Italy and experienced the flawless execution of her planning. There were no mix-ups or unpleasant surprises - everything went according to her plan. We flew in and out of Rome and stayed four nights in Florence, three in Positano on the Amalfi coast, and three in Rome. We absolutely loved the beauty, food, history and shopping in Florence. During our time there, we took a day trip with a private driver to the medieval towns of Sienna and San Gimignano and had a memorable wine tasting lunch at a quaint winery recommended by our driver. We also used one of our free days to take a day trip to Venice via train. It was a long day, but we were so glad we got to see and experience this magical city. We then took a train to Naples and were greeted by a courteous driver who took us to Pompeii for a 2-hour guided tour and then on to Positano. Before he dropped us off at our hotel, our driver arranged reservations for us at a fabulous family-owned restaurant with an off-the-menu prix fixe five course meal - with an incredible view of the sea and hillside. Our time in Positano was surreal with incredible views, delicious food, and friendly people. The boat tour to Capri was out of this world! In Rome, we thoroughly enjoyed a four plus hour food stroll in the Trastevere area, where we sampled typical Roman cheeses, meats, pasta, suppli (risotto balls), pasta and wine. We saw the main tourist attractions as well, and as with all the other excursions on our trip, it was so nice to "skip the lines" and be guided by a knowledgeable and entertaining docent who told stories that made the history and artwork come to life. The hotels were all unique, comfortable, and conveniently located within walking distance of most attractions. They also served scrumptious fresh breakfast buffets with our choice of espresso drinks each morning. Yum! We never would have had the knowledge, time, or contacts to plan such a vacation on our own. Thanks for everything!

Review: Italy Family Vacation, Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice, Parma, Modena, San Gimignano, Lake Como, Dolomites Snowmobiling

Thanks for helping me organize my family (of 10 with diverse age from 15 to 63) trip to Italy, from Dec 17 to Dec 31. Whilst different member of my family have different expectation and requirement, I would like to comment you and your team on having planned an excellent trip that not only met each and everyone's interest and expectation but truly exceeded it.

Your planning have brought us to the lovely cities of Parma, Modena, Florence, Orvieto, Civita Di Bagnoregio, Naples, Rome, Venice, Cortina d'Amprezzo and back to our starting point Milan. Throughout the trip, we have a well balance itinerary that covered

- beautiful churches such as the Duomo in Milan, Rome, Florence,

- archeological site like Pompeii, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Pisa, Verona (learning more about romeo and Juliet)

- great local eating places (recommended by the guides you chose)

- lovely country side and unique sight in San Gimignano, Civita Di Bagnoregio, Orvieto, Lake Como,

- great gallery likes Uffizi, Academia

- Interesting activity such as Snow Mobile excursion in Cortina, Learning Cooking

- Shopping activities

With so much, yet your team immaculate planning never have us rushing from sight to sight, we were both able to enjoy and learn as much as we can of each sight and at times added more activities.

The team of guides you chose, have truly turn stone and history into exciting stories that the provided the group deeper understanding of the sights we visited and saw. Really like to thank each on of them like our guides in Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Orvieto and Civita Di Bagnoregio, Naples and Pompeii, Rome, Verona, Venice and Milan.

But most importantly, thank you for getting our driver, he truly ensure our comfort whilst driving steadily through jams on our way to Naple and snow storm on our way to Cortina d Amprezzo and also took very good care of us ensuring we know what to do where we have no guides and leaving us clear instruction when we needed help. He is truly a wonder.

I will definitely tell my friends heading to Italy about this company.... A wonderfully great experience.

Review: Luxury Italy Family Vacation, Rome, Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Chianti, Verona, Milan

My husband and I, along with our 2 children (age 20 and 17), enjoyed a wonderful Italian vacation booked through Zicasso and this travel agency.  Our travel consultants listened to my ideas and arranged for us a fantastic custom itinerary.   They stayed within the budget allotted, offered choices for beautiful hotels and private tours, and made several revisions as per our request.  We departed from New York on our 25th anniversary, and spent 10 days traveling the country within the month of November.  This off-season time proved to be a great decision as reservations were easy to obtain, crowds were minimal (mostly all locals), and the weather was conducive for walking and sightseeing (average 60 degrees F).  Transportation and the personal drivers were top notch; with Mercedes SUVs or minivans to take my family from Milan-Chianti-Florence-Verona-Venice and then the high speed train down to Rome.  Accommodations arranged for us were phenomenal!  We stayed in a 12th century castle in Chianti, in the heart of the city center in Florence, and near the Spanish Steps in Rome.  The personal tour guides were friendly and knowledgable, and were happy to recommend eateries preferred by locals.  All in all, everything was flawless. We plan to return some day to see the Amalfi coast, Positano and Capri.  We would absolutely recommend these travel consultants, and the travel company team to anyone who is looking for a personalized Italian vacation.
