Rome – Eternal Charms

Rome is a city of imperial legacy and artistic riches. This was the heart of an empire in which temples stood as testaments to devotion to Byzantine mosaics depicting the tales of Old and New Testaments. From Renaissance frescoes offering intimate, humane depictions of heavenly characters to the grandeur of palaces framed with baroque piazzas, Rome radiates the charms of its past set in the antique architecture, hidden streets, and outdoor ambiance. Legacy and legend emanate from the Colosseum and the Pantheon. Traditional cuisine provides alluring aromas drifting from historic restaurants offering pasta carbonara and cacio e pepe, a cheese and pepper pasta dish.

Your flight lands at Fiumicino Airport, where your private transfer meets you at baggage claim. Settle into your hotel in the heart of the historic city center. The lobby inside what was once a private villa embodies the lavish lifestyles of the Roman aristocracy in the form of elegant furniture, marble floors, and gilded window frames. Your guide meets you in the lobby eager to escort you through the celebrated elegant piazzas of Rome for an introductory tour. You begin in Campo de’Fiori to find the marketplace wrapping up for the day.

The sweet aroma of fresh flowers lingers amidst the remaining florists packaging sunflowers and azaleas. The alley framed by historic palaces whisks you away from the bustling openness of Campo de’ Fiori to find two fountains at the heart of Piazza Farnese. The basins were crafted out of ancient granite tubs taken from the Baths of Caracalla. A stone iris crowns each fountain, which was the symbol of the Farnese family. The rosy palace was designed in the 16th century and completed by master architect Michelangelo. Much of the palace was erected using materials taken from the outer Colosseum’s abandoned grounds. The family coat of arms adorns the central balcony above the main portico.

Rome is the largest city in Italy but can still feel charming when wandering through the historic city center. The Amalfi Coast spreads across the Gulf of Salerno but feels separate from mainland Italy, bordered by dramatic limestone promontories and decorated with colorful towns. Your 8-day tour takes you from the splendor of Ancient Rome to the enchantment of the Bay of Naples, each rich in history, culture, cuisine, and unimaginable beauty. Your tour begins with your arrival in Rome. Your private transfer meets you at Fiumicino Airport and escorts you to your lavish hotel in the historic city center. You meet your guide in the lobby for a tour of the elegant piazzas of the Eternal City, from Campo de’Fiori to Piazza di Spagna.

The following day, your guide relishes the wonders of Ancient Rome on a guided tour of the Trajan’s Market, Capitoline Hill, Roman Forum, and the Colosseum. Following your exploration of Rome’s past, your guide introduces you to a charming café in which you can relax with a wine tasting tour while watching the city-goers pass by. Then, you have a full day tour of Vatican City’s splendors, taking you through St. Peter’s Square, the Basilica, and the celebrated museums.

Enjoy the city at your preferred pace the next day with a chance to wander the streets at your leisure. Visit the shops along Via del Corso or visit the opulent collection of artwork in Villa Pamphilj before your private cooking class with a local Roman chef. Your private transfer escorts you south to Naples and the preserved city of Pompeii. Delight in discovering the remarkably conserved villas, streets, and frescoes of the former Roman port city. Continue around the Bay of Naples to settle into your luxurious hotel in the city of Sorrento.

The day is once again at your leisure to embrace the culture and beauty of the region. Delight in a hike through the hills to reach the lookout point at the edge of the bay or explore the thrills of Naples, which include the National Archeological Museum accompanied with a pizza making class. Then, you have a private driver eager to take you along the scenic road to the Amalfi Coast. Visit the charming towns and villages nestled amongst the cliffs and take the time to discover the Emerald Cave in Conca dei Marini. Italy Tour Review: Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Chianti, Vespa Tour, Boat Ride, Cooking Class, 20 Days

Our trip was absolutely amazing and the planning done by Zicasso's travel company surpassed my expectations. The attention to detail was amazing: from excellent and punctual drivers to assistants who helped us with the water taxis in Venice to the lounge access for trains. It was truly white-glove service that made my trip seamless and allowed me to enjoy every moment because every detail was handled.

The excursions were fantastic. I especially enjoyed the cooking class at a farm in Tuscany and the Vespa tours in Rome. There was a nice mix of private excursions for the walking tours and boat rides, to a few shared excursions, such as the cooking class.

The hotels the travel company booked were chic, boutiquey Italian hotels and each had its own charm (from the former palace in Venice to the castle in Chianti), and we loved them. We would absolutely recommend to anyone booking a trip to Italy!

Italy, France Vacation Review: Rome, Florence, Venice, Paris, Bayeux, Normandy, 18 Nights

We had an excellent experience with Zicasso's travel company. We are a family of four and spent 18 nights going through Italy and France. We worked with the company to make arrangements to see the cities and sites we wanted to visit. They offered great options for hotels and activities. They stayed in close contact with us during the trip and made additional arrangements upon request. The company provided outstanding service making arrangements and during the trip. We were very satisified and have already recommended them to our friends.

Italy Tour Review: Rome, Florence, Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Ancient Sites, Cooking Class, 1 Week

I can confidently say that Zicasso's travel specialist is truly dedicated to providing her clients a luxury experience. From the outset, we had a 20-minute call where she wanted to learn about our dream vacation and get to know us. She was attentive to every request we made and organized our itinerary accordingly. During the trip, she texted us daily to inform us about our drivers and guides for the next day. Additionally, she checked to ensure our trip was progressing smoothly.

Here are some highlights:

Rome: We were greeted at the airport by our agent, who expedited our passage through passport control. The following day, we started our exploration at the Vatican. Our agent had purchased our tickets in advance, allowing us to skip the line. She also planned the remainder of our self-guided tours of the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and other ancient sights. We accomplished so much in just two days!

Florence: We took part in a pasta-making class with a chef who was fantastic! Her husband was also quite charming. Our experience there was truly wonderful. Special thanks to our driver, who was incredibly helpful and informative.

Sorrento (Amalfi Coast): We began with a visit to Pompeii, where our guide, also arranged by our agent, was spectacular! His passion and extensive knowledge made the experience enjoyable. Next, we had a fun blind wine tasting. When we arrived at our amazing hotel, we were greeted with a surprise.

While in Rome, we encountered a minor issue, which our agent resolved quickly. She even went above and beyond by ordering us a bottle of prosecco to celebrate. We also took a car tour of Positano and Ravello, guided by a local from Ravello who was informative, knowledgeable, and delightful. We loved her! Our day ended with a lovely sunset cruise off the coast! Both days had excellent drivers.

This trip was a dream come true for my husband and me. Without a doubt, our agent made it the luxurious experience we desired. I highly recommend her and her team!
