Lecco – Arrive in Milan and Transfer to Charming Lecco on Lake Como

Lake Como beckons to visitors with supreme beauty captured in the reflective waters and soaring snow-capped peaks along the edges of the Italian Alps. Small, historical towns form pockets along the lakeshores nestled between the rippling waters and ascending foothills blanketed with pine forest. Your private transfer greets you at Malpensa International Airport in Milan before escorting you into the mountains to the town of Lecco on the eastern shores of Lake Como. Villas more than two hundred years old line the cobbled lanes with the rugged mountain summits in the background.

The aroma of fresh espresso drifts out of the cafes whose tables and chairs spill out on the piazzas for views over the water. You are immersed in the fairytale ambiance of the Resegone crest and Grigne Mountain Group that have inspired artists such as Italian poet, Alessandro Manzoni, and French writer, Stendhal. Restaurants provide delectable local favorites shaped by the features of the meadows and terraces, from polenta with goat cheese to indulgent steaks and stews. The bell tower casts a shadow over the waterfront along the edges of Piazza XX Settembre, leading you on a welcoming stroll along the narrow lanes to find the 14th-century Visconti Bridge, one of the oldest monuments in town.

Italy Review, Tuscany & Umbria Vacation, Chianti, Perugia, Montefalco, Bevagne, Wine Tour
I am sorry to report this but as a customer of Zicasso I feel you should know when a travel agency does not live up to your standards. Both Mike, myself and our friends have used your referral company and have had great results. There were just too many things about this trip that were a huge disappointment.Train tickets issued to Mike & I were for two different train cars! Why would a premiere travel agent who knows we have never traveled this way put myself and my husband on a train in two completely different train cars! Thankfully the ticket handler was gracious enough to let us sit together. As a premiere travel agency we definitely should have been asked to if we would like to have premiere economy and definitely should have had tickets where we sat together.Location of Villas: While the Villa in Chianti and the hotel in Perugia were both wonderful places but very isolated. The places we were scheduled to travel to were all located a long ways away. We spent so much time in our van driving it was cause for a lot of stress. For example poor time management on scheduling: Florence - travel distance fine, tour guide great, no time at all to shop as driver was waiting to take us back. Pienza - a 2+ hour drive when we arrived the driver said he would need to take us to next stop in 20 minutes! That is not relaxing. We were then late to our lunch at the farm which they were not pleased but were very accommodating for us. Thank goodness she was such a doll. On to Montalcino but no, we had no time to visit this village because we had to be at a winery for a tour. Then a 2+ hour drive home only to have our other driver waiting to take us to dinner. Stress. Castello di Ami yet another long and windy road trip to go to two wineries. Which were nice but feel there were probably some closer that would have satisfied. Cortona was fun yet another long day in the van. The hotel in Perugia seemed so relaxing but we never had time to spend there. Next day another 1.5+ hr. drive to a winery and 2 villages one Montefalco was fun to walk around, when we arrived at the village of Bevagne it was literally a ghost town no shops were open nothing. This might have been due to August holiday but the Travel agent should be aware of these things. It was a waste of time. Restaurants suggested: a Chianti restaurant was cute and nice to have when you are tired from traveling. The Tuscany restaurant was lovely, 25 minute drive just fine and we had a great meal. The other restaurants in this area that were suggested were too far away 45 min.+ after being in a car all day - again travel agent should be cognizant of this itinerary. We found a fun castle 5 min. drive away and had a great meal. After traveling all day to get to our hotel in Perugia we were not up for traveling yet again to a restaurant but there was nothing close by and this restaurant was to be on Lake Trasimeno so we decided to go. It was awful no view of the lake the wait staff forgot our order and food was sub par. ugh The next night we ate pizza at the resort! Transportation: We were to have English speaking drivers every day. We had 2 the rest of them spoke very little English in fact the last one driver spoke no English we had him for 2 days. Luckily he was so sweet that he downloaded a translate app and I sat in the front seat so we could "talk" to him.

Travel Review: Luxury Italy Honeymoon, Florence Rome, Venice, Positano, Capri Boat Tour, Prosecco Tour, Vatican

Our vacation was excellent. The private guides in the cities was the best way to see the city and interact per region. Our guide in Florence was excellent as was our guide with the Prosecco tour in and around Venice. Taking the trains was easy and the guidance you provided made it easy to navigate (have to admit that I was anxious with the trains).

Overall, our agent did a great job for us and we really couldn’t have asked for more. The worst part of the trip was having to come home

Review: Luxury Italy Family Vacation, Venice, Rome, Floreence, Tuscany, Sorrento, Capri Boat Tour, Saint Marco's Basilica Mass

We travelled with our three teenaged children.  Our trip included Venice, Tuscany, Rome and Sorrento.  The trip went off without a snag.  Everyone showed up right when they were supposed to be there and all of the guides were very helpful and full of information.  All of our transfer went off without a hitch.

All of the hotels were either four or five star rated and they were all terrific.

Hotel in Venice - great location, helpful staff, nice antique Venician feel to the rooms.

Resort in Tuscany - Beautiful Tuscan setting, large gorgeous suites and grounds.  Seemed to be operating at half speed with only one restaurant open with a limited menu.

Hotel in Rome - Well kept, nice but small rooms and limited facilities.  Very central and able to walk to most of the sites.

Hotel in Sorrento - Spectacular view from our junior suites "hanging off the cliff" overlooking the sea and Mt Vesuvius!  Gorgeous rooms and very helpful staff.

Italy Anniversary Travel Review: Rome, Venice, Florence, Vatican City, Colosseum, Forum, Cooking Class, Private Tours, 8-Day Trip
We can not express enough gratitude for all the travel agency did to make our first trip to Italy a dream come true!My husband and I visited the country for our 10 year wedding anniversary and selected tours planned the perfect vacation for us. Over 8 days we went from Rome, to Florence, to Venice, and back to Rome. The team at the agency took care of EVERYTHING fo us. From a private driver to transport us from airport to hotel and to and from train stations, to a personal guide and water taxi in Venice – she gave us a wonderful welcome and run down of what to do and where to go!Then we have the private walking tours! Our first tour was Vatican City. Our skip-the-line private Vatican guide and his passion and love for Rome and Vatican City came bursting through in the first 10 minutes. When we got to Florence, we spent 3 hours with another guide who's Florentine pride emanated throughout the entire tour. She was a wonderful story teller and we both learned SO much. When we came back to Rome to tour the eternal city, we were elated to see our guide awaiting us once again to guide us through the Colosseum and The Forum. By the end, we felt like we were being given a tour by an Italian family member. He is a true gem! of a human! Then there's the accommodations! We had beautiful boutique hotels throughout our stay! Our first stay in Rome was made extremely comfortable. The staff was warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful. Our hotel in Florence felt like we were actually immersed and living in the center of the city.In Venice, we were welcomed with a complimentary upgrade for our anniversary. We had a room overlooking a canal with a beautiful bottle of Venetian Prosecco awaiting us. I felt like a queen and never wanted to leave the room!Upon our arrival back to the eternal city we were upgraded to a junior suite for our anniversary. This room was on the corner and had views of The Forum Ruins directly from our room. We could even see a slice of the colosseum! It was absolutely breathtaking! We are already chatting about a return trip to southern Italy and when that day comes, this agency will be the first call. 100%!

Travel Review: Memorable Vacation to Italy, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, Antinori Winery Tour, Rome, Vatican Tour
Giuliana of this Italy travel company guided us every step of the way and created one of our most memorable vacations. The most impressive thing at the outset was how quickly she responded to our initial inquiry. We had never been to Italy, had not done a great deal of research, and had only a general idea of what we wanted beyond the dates (mid-May) and the cities we wanted to visit (Florence and Rome). Within a day, Giuliana submitted a detailed proposed itinerary based on a recent client request similar to ours. The proposal included various options that provided a great starting point for further discussion. She asked many questions, including our hotel preferences (small boutique, high-rise, how many stars, etc.) and suggested a number of venues that would expose us to Italy’s remarkable history and culture. The result was a vacation specifically suited to our personal tastes and interests. We spent four days in Florence and three in Rome. In Florence, we stayed at the Hotel Lungarno on the Arno River, a lovely small hotel in the heart of the city within walking distance to everything of interest, including the Uffizi and Academy museums, and the famous Duomo. It rained two nights, but we didn’t have far to go for a great dinner. The hotel restaurant was superb. One of the highlights of the Florence leg of the trip was a day tour of the Tuscany wine region that included a stopover in the historic town of Siena. We had lunch at the Osteria di Passignano, a restaurant at the Antinori vineyards where we were treated to a four course lunch and wine tasting and a tour of the winery. Fabulous. In Rome, we stayed at the Hotel Saint George. Another small, well appointed, boutique hotel, centrally located near the Tiber River, it provided access to all the essential venues, including the Vatican, Coliseum, Spanish Steps, etc. As in Florence, everything was in walking distance, including fine dining restaurants, pizzerias, espresso bars, and gelateria—and lots of places to shop. The hotel was comfortable, attractive, with a friendly and efficient staff, but we would not recommend the hotel restaurant. It was nice enough (although too brightly lit) but was virtually empty the night we were there and the food was just O.K. That wasn’t Giuliana’s fault since the hotel restaurant was not on her recommended list. We were just tired (it was our first night) and thought we’d give it a try. The hotel concierge made up for it, however, by recommending two great nearby restaurants for the remaining two nights. Neither was on Guiliana’s list, but they were terrific. A word about the logistical aspects of the trip: we viewed this as critical to the success of a customized tour with multiple venues and connections. We couldn’t have been more pleased. On arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, we were greeted by Aldo who drove us to the high-speed train to Florence. After sharing an espresso with us in the station café, he made sure we got on the right train, helped us with our bags, and took us to our seats. Similar service greeted us at every connection point during the trip. Our personal tour guides, Enza (Florence), Andrea (Tuscany), and Sylvia (Rome), were exceptionally knowledgeable, personable, and fluent in English. Giuliana telephoned us at several points during the trip to confirm that we had arrived at our destination, that the drivers were on time, and that the accommodations met our expectations. Very reassuring to know she was keeping such close tabs on things. In short, all elements of transportation and personal service were impeccable. Would we visit Italy again? Without doubt. The trip simply whetted our appetites. Would we use this company? We wouldn’t consider any other service. Next time, however, we’ll make more of an effort to visit the restaurants recommended by Giuliana.

Italy Anniversary Vacation Review: Rome, Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Uffizi Gallery, Vatican Tour

We did a 12 day trip that included Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Rome, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. It was a 30th anniversary trip for us. My brother and sister-in-law also travelled with us. It was our first trip to Italy and we wanted to make sure that we could enjoy our vacation without worrying about logistics, transportation, etc. And having never been in Italy, we needed guidance and recommendations for the right accommodations. Our travel agency met or exceeded all of our expectations. Our agents paid close attention to our wishes and carefully planned out the perfect itinerary. They did so while also honoring our budget. They put us in great hotels in the hearts of Venice, Rome and Florence. And we had spectacular views from our hotels in Tuscany and Sorrento. Great drivers and guides were arranged at every stop. In addition to private tours of traditional sites (Vatican, Coliseum, Uffizzi Gallery, St. Mark's Basilica, Pompeii), Our agents also arranged a one of kind wine-tasting and lunch at a small Tuscan farm and a special cooking class at a Michelin starred restaurant. Even with all of the activities, we still had plenty of free time to wander on our own or simply relax. Plus, our agents were always available by phone or e-mail both before and during the trip if we had any questions. They are incredibly responsive. And all of this cost about the same as a high quality group tour. We felt like we got the perfect 30th anniversary trip and that it was an excellent value. I highly recommend this company.
