Sorrento – Arrive in Naples and Transfer to Sorrento at Leisure

Sorrento is the perfect western gateway to the Amalfi Coast attracting 19th-century poets and authors like Lord Byron and Goethe, Dickens, and Tolstoy to enjoy the natural beauty that spans the Bay of Naples. The cobbled lanes wind along the glistening shore leading alongside palatial hotels and a network of boutique shops. The scent of the sea air fades beneath the ever-present aroma of lemons. Your flight arrives at Naples International Airport, where your private transfer greets you. Travel outside of the bustling southern city and around the bay passing the infamous peak of Mount Vesuvius. The grandeur of Sorrento is understated nestled between the staggering bordering cliffs reaching 180 feet above sea level.

The relaxed ambiance spreads across the beaches and former noble houses, as well as through the heart of the historical city center leading to Piazza Tasso. After settling into the comforts of your luxury hotel overlooking the charming waters lapping at Marina Grande, the remainder of the day is yours to bask in the welcoming charms of the city. The Basilica di Sant’Antonio has a dramatic exterior reminiscent of a brutalist office building, but the interior paints a more ethereal picture with uncovered Roman artifacts and medieval paintings reflecting dark themes. The gilded ceiling glints in the soft light embodying the extravagance of the Baroque design.

Italy Vacation Review: Abruzzo, Puglia, Alberobello, Matera, L'Aquila, Pescara, Castle of Rocca Calascio, Cooking Class, 13 Nights

Overall, our group of nine people had an amazing experience. We visited the regions of Abruzzo and Puglia, and both are stunningly beautiful. We had an awesome "cooking-with-nonna" experience in a real trulli house in Alberobello—highly recommended!!

We stayed in some beautiful B&Bs (historic homes) and the owners/staff and breakfast spread were amazing in all of them. We saw so many beautiful medieval towns (Matera was jaw-dropping!) and had so many great, once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

The only thing I'd recommend is to ensure you have a communication plan with your tour agent and private drivers. For example, when we arrived to our initial B&B in L'Aquila, it was dark/locked and no one was there. Apparently, our arrival time was not communicated to the B&B staff (which was a bit frustrating). Also, you should definitely expect to use a translation app to communicate with your private drivers and to ask drivers to communicate daily plans so everyone is on the same page. Other than a few small hiccups, the trip was great. We'd definitely use this group again.

Italy Tour Review: 5 Nights

We had beautiful accommodations, with delicious dining recommendations. Our boat captain to Capri for the day was informative, with good English. The lemon tour in Sorrento was a highlight. It was an overall great trip and we received great communication from our Zicasso agent.

Italy Tour Review: Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Positano, Path of the Gods, Cooking Class, Hike, 1 Week

The travel company did a fantastic job planning our Italian vacation to the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts. The hotel in Positano was breathtaking. The excursions that Zicasso's travel designer recommended were fantastic. The cooking class in the hills overlooking the coast was amazing. Our travel plans changed due to airline difficulties and she was incredibly helpful in making adjustments on the fly to ensure our trip went as smoothly as possible.

Italy Family Vacation Review: Venice, Verona, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, Rome, Biking, Cooking, Wine Tasting, Olive Oil Experience, 10 Nights

Zicasso's travel company planned the most amazing trip to Venice, Verona, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, and Rome for our family of five. It was the best trip I've ever taken, and having all the details covered by them and plans and tickets sent to us via WhatsApp allowed us to really live in the moment and not have to think about what was next. I loved every second. I cannot wait to plan another trip to Italy to experience the southern half of the country.

Italy Travel Review: Capri, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Alberobello, Lecce, Grottos, History, 16-Day Tour

First off, Zicasso's travel designer was on point! She answered any of our questions before the trip and during the trip.

Let me go hotel by hotel:

Our hotel in Sorrento: The people who worked there were very nice. Our room was next to where the maids had their supplies, and they would loudly chat outside our room while they got their things together for the workday. It's on us to have requested a different room. It was a minor annoyance.

Our hotel in Capri: It was so clean! The owner/manager could not have been kinder, as were all of his staff. I would recommend this to anyone!

Our hotel in Bari: It was clean, but it was too long in gritty, dirty, downtown Bari for four days.

Our hotel in Alberobello: It was so charming, so clean, and a great place!

Our hotel in Lecce: The complimentary earplugs should have been a tip-off. This historical venue is exquisite, but the parties go on till the wee hours of the morning. IT was so loud! It was impossible to sleep! Yet the front desk kept all the lights on for us when we left at 3:30 in the morning; they could not have been kinder!

Italy Tour Review: Vatican, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pompeii, Tuscany, Venice, Cheese-Making Experience, Cooking Class, 13 Nights

Zicasso's travel agency far exceeded our expectations. We had our five-year-old and 11-year-old children with us, so the tour guides and walking needed to be kid-friendly.

Our hotel in Rome was wonderful, the location was perfect, and they had good A/C and a breakfast buffet. There were plenty of great restaurants within easy walking distance, as well as the Vatican.

Our tour guide for the Colosseum and Roman Forum was great. Pompeii was amazing. Our tour guide was basically a celebrity down there and knew exactly how to take us around the ruins without ever waiting.

Tuscany was our favorite by far. We did a cheese-making experience and lunch that was super-cool. The kids got to play with the farm animals and the owners were so attentive and interesting. We did a cooking class with a chef that was the kids' favorite thing on the entire trip. I would make a point to book this experience; the kids still talk about it and wear the aprons around the house. The resort in Tuscany was nice. We had our own private pool, plus the resort pool, and could easily walk to a small local town with some great food.

Venice was good, but probably our least favorite on the trip. You have to walk a ton, which was difficult for the kids, but it's still worth experiencing.

We travel a bunch and I would highly recommend using Zicasso's travel partner.
