My husband and I, along with our 2 children (age 20 and 17), enjoyed a wonderful Italian vacation booked through Zicasso and this travel agency. Our travel consultants listened to my ideas and arranged for us a fantastic custom itinerary. They stayed within the budget allotted, offered choices for beautiful hotels and private tours, and made several revisions as per our request. We departed from New York on our 25th anniversary, and spent 10 days traveling the country within the month of November. This off-season time proved to be a great decision as reservations were easy to obtain, crowds were minimal (mostly all locals), and the weather was conducive for walking and sightseeing (average 60 degrees F). Transportation and the personal drivers were top notch; with Mercedes SUVs or minivans to take my family from Milan-Chianti-Florence-Verona-Venice and then the high speed train down to Rome. Accommodations arranged for us were phenomenal! We stayed in a 12th century castle in Chianti, in the heart of the city center in Florence, and near the Spanish Steps in Rome. The personal tour guides were friendly and knowledgable, and were happy to recommend eateries preferred by locals. All in all, everything was flawless. We plan to return some day to see the Amalfi coast, Positano and Capri. We would absolutely recommend these travel consultants, and the travel company team to anyone who is looking for a personalized Italian vacation.

We wish to think our travel specialist from the travel company for a fantastic trip to a beautiful country! It all started when I inquired on the Internet for a reputable travel agent. I was directed to our travel specialist and sent her a communication to which she promptly telephoned me. She asked a few basic questions and outlined a tentative trip. After minimal back-and-forth the trip was finalized. Airline reservations were separate, and we made those. I contacted our travel specialist as the trip approached to confirm that everything was OK – which is was of course.
Hotels: All hotels were well chosen. They were in the center of activity. Within walking distance of necessary sites. Always air-conditioned and comfortable. In many we had balconies which we especially appreciated an the Amalfi coast and Venice as they overlooked the water. All hotel fees were paid including breakfast and taxes. In one hotel we used their laundry service which was efficient and timely. At another hotel we used their packing so we could ship souvenirs home as we had exceeded our luggage capacity. Hotel staff was always friendly and helpful.
Transfers: At each location we were met at the airport or train station and transported to our hotel. In like fashion we were transported back. In some instances we were transported to and from our tours. All drivers drove Mercedes vehicles which were clean and well kept. The drivers all spoke good English and were very friendly and helpful. Although their job was not as a tour director we did learn much about Italy from them. Porter service was included in Positano which was a must! We had delightful boat tours in Amalfi and Venice including a trip to the island of Capri and the Five Lands near Florence.
Tours / Guides: We had tours in each city to see the major sites. These were combinations of walking, driving or boats (The boat taxis in Venice were particularly exhilarating). All tour guides were outstanding English speakers and most had advanced degrees in topics related to our visit such as a degree in Artistry. We enjoyed each and every one of them very much and appreciated our time with them. We found the tours to be perfect in length. Not too long and not too short. Nothing seem to get redundant and we were always excited to see the next thing on the agenda.
Trains: The high-speed trains were on time and comfortable. We had reserved first class seats together. Very few stops. Very efficient transportation.
Special Activities: Our travel specialist arranged such things as an elegant tasting meal with wine pairings, an Italian cooking class, several beautiful lunches and many other delights. All were well executed and enjoyable. I would say of our meals the cooking class was our highlight. We enjoyed a lovely gondola ride in Venice and were amazed with the water taxis! We went to Capri and had a boat tour of Como. So many special activities!
Food: We found the food in Rome and the Amalfi coast to be most pleasing to us. Different than the United States and seemed very fresh with simple spices. As we got further north it seem to be more Americanized but still very good. We focused on the pastas primarily and the many variations available. We had limited beef and fish which was our preference. You won’t go hungry!
Shopping: My friend’s favorite part of the trip! Although there is great shopping everywhere, we did most of our shopping along the Amalfi coast in Positano. Lots of beautiful boutiques there which had Italian made items. Did not seem overly priced and we enjoyed the variety. Many of the other stops seemed to focus on typical touristy type items and although we bought our assortment doing so was more mandatory than fun.
Destinations: We had a lovely trip of Rome, the Amalfi coast, Florence, Venice, and Como. Our itinerary had adequate time to see all the major sites in each location along with time for relaxation, shopping, eating, etc. At every location we had skip the line tickets for efficient use of our time with our excellent tour guides.
Tipping: Not as customary in Italy as in the US. We tipped all guides and many others based on their level of expertise and the time amount of time we spent with him. Our tipping at restaurants was hit or miss. Interesting that when you pay by credit card you cannot add the tip to the credit card charge.
Money: We chose to use ATMs to get cash in Euros. They were usually conveniently available. Most major purchases were made on the credit card.
Dress: Dress in Europe is casual and similar to that of the United States. The only qualifier is that you must cover your shoulders and knees to go into most of the churches.
Phone/ Internet: Before leaving we made sure we were on the international plan which was a few dollars a day extra. This gave us full use of our phones, Internet, texting, etc. All hotels had Internet available as did many other places.
Driving: We did not rent a car nor try to drive and I would recommend against it in any of the major cities. Much more congested and very much a free for all compared to the US.
Problems: We had one issue that we had to deal with. Our travel specialist was very helpful in getting this resolved for us. She had to go to some trouble to accomplish this so it was very much appreciated. She is certainly a professional at her work.
Our travel specialist and the travel company: This was our first time using them. They were very professional, helpful, set up a great itinerary and executed it in a flawless fashion. In addition our one stumble was completely resolved. Highly recommended! Thank you to our travel specialist for a once in a lifetime experience in Italy!

OMG! This trip was sheer perfection, surpassing all my expectations. Working with Megan and her crew was so easy. I told her what I wanted to do, she added her suggestions and voila...a trip of a lifetime. Traveling alone was no challenge at all with Megan's planning. I had drivers to pick me up at every airport and train and rode in luxury. How about the night at Don Alphonso when my driver picked me up in a mercerdes sports car! The hotels were incredible. I started in Pisa, was driven to the Cinque Terra and stayed at a hotel high on a cliff overlooking the sea. Every hotel booked had a sea view. The staff at the hotels pampered me like a baby. My guide in the Cinque Terra was a wealth of information. She even took the train to Santa Marguerita with me so I could see Portofino. I want to go back to Santa Marguerita, it is so incredible and the Hotel Miremare was an experience in and of itself. My guide was simply the best. From there I took trains to arrive in Naples and a driver awaited and zipped me off to Positano. A day at Da Adolpho, per Megan's advice, was paradise. I also hired a boat and a driver so I could see the Cinque Terra and the Amalfi Coast by sea...a suggestion I would make to anyone. What can one say about the Amalfi Coast? Again, the hotel , Buca de Boca, was fabulous, the view ridiculous, the food incredible and the sights unbelievable. Whenever I needed something I called Megan and she handled it tout suite! Onward to Capri...again one of the greatest hotels I have ever stayed at, the Villa Brunello. My guide there was a native and he took me to Villa St Michelle which was a real treat as I had just read a book about this fabulous villa. Finally Naples for an afternoon where my guide took me through the streets and treated me to the delicious food of that city. I am going to Spain in the spring and Megan will handle that trip, and any others in Europe. Grazi mille.

My husband and I just returned from an incredible trip to Italy celebrating our 20 year anniversary. Our agent with this Italy travel company planned a trip that was exactly what we were hoped for: stress-free, full of activities (but not overwhelming), romantic, and beautiful. On a trip with so much details there are plenty of opportunities for something to go wrong but every tiny aspect was handled perfectly!! Within five minutes of stepping into any car, the driver’s phone rang. It was one of our agents making sure everything was fine and there were no problems. Our agent made our trip incredible! His attention to detail, vast knowledge, and ability to read people to figure out what and how to plan their trip allowed my husband and I to enjoy each other and our surroundings.
We spent the first two nights in Montalcino. I imagine it is challenging to make a castle cozy and charming, but they succeeded! The castle was more than we could have ever hoped for with an interesting history, beautiful pool and views that were out of this world. The staff was friendly and helpful; the rooms were tastefully decorated and roomy. The castle's restaurant served us the most incredible meals with wonderful wine. We went cycling through the vineyards, enjoyed the wine tasting room, experienced a cooking class by the head chef that was entertaining as well as informative. We actually replicated his meal within a week of arriving home.
We left Montalcino for Rome and spent four days exploring the city. We had a private tour guide for Vatican City and Ancient Rome. With the large amount of people, everywhere, I can not imagine trying to navigate, enjoy, and absorb so much history and space without someone to help. He was full of information; it was obvious he loved the city and the history. We spent our time where we wanted to be, not trying to figure out how to get there or how to get around the masses of people. The hotel we stayed at is in a great location. The hotel was nice but it was all about the location.
We departed Rome for Sorrento where we dropped our suitcases at the hotel. Our room was beautiful with lots of room and a view that we ran to see every morning. Their patio overlooks Sorrento Bay and we enjoyed every sunset with a drink and beautiful sights. The staff at the hotel were very helpful with suggestions and a friendly smile. Our favorite place to eat was Donna Sophia, a restaurant that is located up a very narrow, scary but exhilarating street. We found the ride and the restaurant to be lots of fun with delicious food. We spent one day with a private driver and guide in Pompeii and Vesuvius. The next day we had a private driver that took us on the most beautiful drive to Positano where we again enjoyed the views, beach, and shopping. Unfortunately there was a wreck that blocked the road and we could not continue on to Ravello and Amalfi. Instead we spent a relaxing afternoon by the pool.
Our favorite part of the trip was a day spent on a private charter boat. It was amazingly scenic and beautiful while relaxing and peaceful. We enjoyed swimming, checking out caves, a lunch that was out of this world, and champagne while drinking in the sights. We ended our boat trip on Capri Island.
We spent two nights at the hotel there. It was absolutely breathtaking! The view from the balcony of our room can not be adequately described. It was truly the most magnificent sight I have ever seen. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. We had a small issue with a clothing store that was suppose to deliver a package the night before we left. When we woke and still had not received our goods, the staff at the front desk handled the situation beautifully and resolved our problem.
