Italy Family Vacation Review: Rome, Florence, Venice, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi Coast, Naples, Mt Vesuvius, Glass Blowing Class

WOW!  Where do we start.  It was a fantastic family vacation.  From start to finish, we couldn't ask for a better scripted trip.  Our travel agent, was responsible for our itinerary for the entire trip; boy were we glad we've used their services.  They were pure angels holding our hands the entire trip.  Our travel agency would check and remind us of our itineraries on a daily basis.  It really felt as if they were right next to us.  Thank you to our agency!

We started out in Venice for 3 nights, travel to Florence for 3 more, then to Sorrento  via Pompeii 3 there as well, then to Rome for final 3 nights.

Once, we arrived in Venice, our contact met us at the airport to guide us to our hotel.  I highly recommend it since it's not an easy place to navigate on your own the first day.  After checking in, we met our tour guide for our first guided tour.  It was a walking tour of city of canals.  Just beautiful!  Next morning, we met our guide again but for Burano & Murano.  We loved the different pace of these islands.  After completing our tour we met our instructor at his glass blowing studio for a hands on experience, just lovely, follow by a Gondolier Class and Food Tour.  It was perfect way to finish the day.  On the third day, we took a one hour train ride to Verona, birth place of Romeo and Juliet.  Our tour guide met us and showed us around town and its history.  It was an wonderful place to visit.  Upon returning from Verona, we had the evening to ourselves.  We started out walking around to explore.  Needless to say we got lost but that was for the best.  It gave us the opportunity to explore the city and see how the locals lived.

Florence was our second stop.  We met our guide for the tour of the city including Santa Croce church.  Following day we visited the Accademia Gallery & Uffizzi Museum which is a must when in Florence.  On the third day, we had a lovely day trip to Pisa.  Little bit of a bus ride but wouldn't have missed it for the world.

Sorrento was next on the agenda.  But first, we stopped at Pompeii.  Our guide, an archaeologist, met us and gave us the tour of the city once buried in ashes.  What a great experience!  Our guide was so enthused to share his knowledge that we felt as if we were living in Pompeii at its height.  Afterwards, we had lunch at a wine farm on Mt. Vesuvius.  Lovely family run vineyard.  The whole day was outstanding.  For the second and third day, we decided to see the coast by sea and land.  Both were different and both were gorgeous.  Visited Capri and swam in golf of Naples first by sea then drove to different towns along the coast including Positano, Amalfi, and Revello on the second.  It was a nice relaxing break.

Our final destination was Rome.  We had an general overview tour of the city on the first day.  It was good in a sense it gave us time to get our baring straight.  The second day we met our guide for the tour of the Vatican.  You can visit the Vatican a dozens of times and still not have enough time to see all it has to offer.  In the evening, we had the Colosseum tour.  Definitely one of the highlights.  The last day we had all to ourselves.  We ended up walking around to visit the Spanish steps the Trevi fountain and many more.  We wanted to take in as much as possible.  Even though the trip was 2 weeks, it was too short.  By the end of the trip, our whole family fell in love with this county and we all looked at each other and said can we live here.

Overall, it was an outstanding trip that we can not even begin to describe.   Without the help of our agency, I don't think it would've been possible.  They made sure that every little details were taking care of.  For anyone, who's interested in Italy, please look up this company.

Travel Review: Anniversary Trip to Italy, Rome, Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Positano, Truffle Hunt, Cooking Class, Food Tour

Locations Visited: Venice, Verona, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Pienze, Rome, Pompeii, Positano

My husband and I planned this trip for our 10-year anniversary. I’m a person with high expectation and this travel agency exceeded all my expectations. The entire trip was dream.

We opted for personalized tours and transport for 95% of our trip. All of our drivers were wonderful. They arrived on time and made sure we made it to all of our destinations without issue. They had the contact information for the tour guides we were meeting. Upon arrival to our first hotel, a local cell phone and gift were given to us. Having the iPhone during our trip made any needed communication with our agent and his team a breeze. In addition, we used the phone apps for navigation throughout the cities we visited. We made a last-minute request for an additional private transport, and our agent was able to make it happen. We greatly appreciated their customer service.

We participated in a several unique experiences while in Italy. We went truffle hunting in Pienza, which was amazing. After, we were served a meal that highlighted truffles and the cheeses made locally. In addition, we did a cooking day in Rome. This was a private cooking class where we made pasta, several sauces, and appetizers. The one disappointment is that we never received the recipes from the chef (we were told by the chef that they would be emailed to us). However, this is a knock on the chef and not our travel agent. Once the class was done, we were served a meal in a private garden area. Lastly, we did a food walking tour in Rome. This was an amazing way to find local cuisine that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. A wonderful experience.

All of our tour guides were excellent. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and familiar with the cities. We had one guide that really went into the details and reasons for expressions in the art. We didn’t care for that, but we didn’t specify that ahead of time or to the guide. It was wonderful seeing her excitement and passion for all of the amazing working works of art and sculpture that we saw.

Overall, I would highly recommend this travel agent and his team if you are traveling to Italy!! You will not be disappointed. We gave him our wish list of activities, accommodation preferences, etc. ahead of time and he made sure we got them all! Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable trip. If we are able to return to Italy, you will be hearing from us.

Italy Vacation Review: Florence, Rome, Venice, Tuscany, Verona, Siena

Our trip was absolutely wonderful. The cities we visited -- Rome, Florence, Siena, Verona, Venice -- all very different, but all equally wonderful.

Our guides, drivers and accommodations were first class. Each unique and reflective of the region we were in. Sangallo Park Hotel in Siena was just amazing. Lovely place to stay. We also really enjoyed our accommodation in Rome as well. I think it was called Hotel Boutique Nazionale. Great place. Also, Relais Fra' Lorenzo in Verona was surprisingly awesome too. Definitely recommend staying at these accomodatons if going to these locations.

This company is the best agency I have ever worked with and I am a seasoned traveler.  They are very knowledgeable and were attentive to all of our needs.  If we had questions, they were answered in a timely manner.  I will use this company again and recommend it to anyone wanting a high-end trip to Italy.

Travel Review: Luxury Family Vacation in Italy, Rome, Venice, Florence, Tuscany, Murano Glass-Blowing, Sistine Chapel, Vatican

This travel agent and her team were simply superb. Every detail was taken care of during our most memorable trip to Italy. We began our tour in Venice. We were greeted at the airport by the driver and guide, who  was  thoughtful enough to bring boots for our whole family since the area around our hotel was flooded because of the high tides! We received a welcome packet that was very well organized and had our detailed itinerary, our train tickets, vouchers for our cooking class, tickets to the Vatican and Sistine Chapel, etcetera. The next beautiful day we had a private boat take us to Murano where are daughters participated in glass blowing - one of their highlights! Our next days in Florence were just delightful. The hotel that this travel agent selected for our stay was tremendous. The service was top notch and it is very well located. We were very impressed that at each hotel, our agent made her best efforts to have us stay in "family rooms"  or two rooms that are connected. This was a request of ours and she  made it happen everywhere should could for us. We stayed at a renovated castle in a beautiful small town in Tuscany. The father and son owners are such  wonderful hosts and storytellers. Our driver in Tuscany was just a delight! He made the drives to Siena and such  a joy. Our travel agent found a wonderful place for us to  have a true Tuscan lunch on our journey - we are foodies and this topped our list. We ended our visit in Rome with one of the best guides we have ever had. Her mastery of history mixed with her love of Rome comes through during her tour. Every  place we stopped, she made history come alive. She also had us try her favorite pizza spot that is now ours! She knew that we had one full day in Rome and made so much of it! We ended the evening at a cooking school - something  we love to do on our all our trips. Making our own gelato and pizza was a wonderful way to complete our trip.

Travel Review: Memorable Vacation to Italy, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, Antinori Winery Tour, Rome, Vatican Tour
Giuliana of this Italy travel company guided us every step of the way and created one of our most memorable vacations. The most impressive thing at the outset was how quickly she responded to our initial inquiry. We had never been to Italy, had not done a great deal of research, and had only a general idea of what we wanted beyond the dates (mid-May) and the cities we wanted to visit (Florence and Rome). Within a day, Giuliana submitted a detailed proposed itinerary based on a recent client request similar to ours. The proposal included various options that provided a great starting point for further discussion. She asked many questions, including our hotel preferences (small boutique, high-rise, how many stars, etc.) and suggested a number of venues that would expose us to Italy’s remarkable history and culture. The result was a vacation specifically suited to our personal tastes and interests. We spent four days in Florence and three in Rome. In Florence, we stayed at the Hotel Lungarno on the Arno River, a lovely small hotel in the heart of the city within walking distance to everything of interest, including the Uffizi and Academy museums, and the famous Duomo. It rained two nights, but we didn’t have far to go for a great dinner. The hotel restaurant was superb. One of the highlights of the Florence leg of the trip was a day tour of the Tuscany wine region that included a stopover in the historic town of Siena. We had lunch at the Osteria di Passignano, a restaurant at the Antinori vineyards where we were treated to a four course lunch and wine tasting and a tour of the winery. Fabulous. In Rome, we stayed at the Hotel Saint George. Another small, well appointed, boutique hotel, centrally located near the Tiber River, it provided access to all the essential venues, including the Vatican, Coliseum, Spanish Steps, etc. As in Florence, everything was in walking distance, including fine dining restaurants, pizzerias, espresso bars, and gelateria—and lots of places to shop. The hotel was comfortable, attractive, with a friendly and efficient staff, but we would not recommend the hotel restaurant. It was nice enough (although too brightly lit) but was virtually empty the night we were there and the food was just O.K. That wasn’t Giuliana’s fault since the hotel restaurant was not on her recommended list. We were just tired (it was our first night) and thought we’d give it a try. The hotel concierge made up for it, however, by recommending two great nearby restaurants for the remaining two nights. Neither was on Guiliana’s list, but they were terrific. A word about the logistical aspects of the trip: we viewed this as critical to the success of a customized tour with multiple venues and connections. We couldn’t have been more pleased. On arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, we were greeted by Aldo who drove us to the high-speed train to Florence. After sharing an espresso with us in the station café, he made sure we got on the right train, helped us with our bags, and took us to our seats. Similar service greeted us at every connection point during the trip. Our personal tour guides, Enza (Florence), Andrea (Tuscany), and Sylvia (Rome), were exceptionally knowledgeable, personable, and fluent in English. Giuliana telephoned us at several points during the trip to confirm that we had arrived at our destination, that the drivers were on time, and that the accommodations met our expectations. Very reassuring to know she was keeping such close tabs on things. In short, all elements of transportation and personal service were impeccable. Would we visit Italy again? Without doubt. The trip simply whetted our appetites. Would we use this company? We wouldn’t consider any other service. Next time, however, we’ll make more of an effort to visit the restaurants recommended by Giuliana.

Italy Trip Review: Florence, Siena, Talamone, Montepulciano, Saturnia
The trip was absolutely fabulous. We stayed mostly in the smaller cities. The only large City we visited was Florence but that was perfect. I didn't want the usual. I wanted to visit the smaller towns to meet the locals and enjoy real Italian life. It was a great mixture of Big City, small city, farms, oceanside, and vineyards. We visited small cities around Siena, Talamone, Montepulciano and many other towns along the way.We had a personal driver take us to all the different destinations. That was great! There is no way I could have navigated the winding narrow roads much less find my way around. The drivers were dressed in suits and super friendly.  After a long day of wine tasting, the driver taught us how to sing "That's Amore" in Italian. Then direct us to our BnB as we stubbled down the cobbled street. It was a dream trip that now after it is over, seems like a dream. Thank God for pictures.Thank you Ziacsso for planning a once in a life time trip.
