Spain, Portugal Vacation Review: San Sebastian, Porto, Douro River Valley, Culture, Wine, Local Cuisine

We outlined our desires to visit the Basque region of Spain and Portugal's Douro River Valley, with an emphasis on the culture, food, and wine of the two regions. We are in our mid-70s, so we asked that activities be designed at a pace appropriate for our age.

The itinerary designed by Zicasso’s travel team met all of these requests. Our guides/drivers were superbly prepared to explain the culture and culinary milieu throughout our trip. The guides were also universally punctual, open, and affable.

We were especially pleased with the excellent locations of our hotels. In San Sebastian, we had a really excellent pintxos restaurant across the street. The owner was exceptionally helpful in choosing items from the menu, as well as local beers. And in Porto, the hotel staff recommended a small, relaxed restaurant with excellent local cuisine just half a block away.

Our walking food tours of the two cities were excellent, both in the quality of the tastings offered and the pace through the cities. And our wine tours complemented our tastes perfectly. We could not have asked for more.

Spain & Morocco Luxury Tour Review: Culture, Local Cuisine, 18-Day Trip
I can’t possibly tell you how wonderful our trip was with only a few words. Every day was packed with informative guides and exciting places to see new foods to eat and to top it off we just happened to be in Spain when there was festivals galore! It was the best I could have hoped for. In Morocco we had an amazing driver who was there for us everyday and made sure to handle all our needs especially to try all local foods and even meet his wonderful family. It was the best vacation ever!Bridget R

Our trip to Morocco and Spain was truly fantastic. Our travel company did a wonderful job of setting us up across 4 cities. We were able to hit all of our key interests from outdoor activities to a tour of local wineries. Both our agent and our local guides were incredibly friendly and flexible. We felt very comfortable and well-taken care of at all times.

Travel Agent Review: Spain, Barcelona, Madrid, Penedes Region, Wine & Tapas Tours, Manchego Cheese Making, History & Culture

My wife and I had a wonderful trip to Spain thanks to the tour specialist and his company.  We spent 4 nights in Barcelona and 3 nights in Madrid.  The tour specialist set up activities for us 3 days in Barcelona and 2 days in Madrid.  Included in the package were hotel stays at each city and train ticket from Barcelona to Madrid.  Both hotels he picked were great.  Barcelona was more of a bed and breakfast with a very cool ambience similar to Barcelona and Madrid was a little more modern.

Our itinerary in Spain consisted of an evening of wine and tapas tour through 4 places through Barcelona, a tour of a winery and cava vineyard in the Penedes region outside Barcelona, and a tour of the historical sites throughout Barcelona.  In Madrid we had another evening of wine and tapas  through 4 places through Madrid, and tours of a cheese making facility, vineyard, and an olive oil producer outside of Madrid.

All the tour guides were great, most felt like you were visiting your friend in another city and they were showing you around.  All were very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had and recommended places to go throughout our stay.  The tour specialist was even a tour guide for us one day as we visited the Penedes region.

The tour specialist also recommended many places to dine and see while we were Spain prior to the trip.
