Auckland - Sensational Worlds

Arrive in Auckland with the City of Sails set before you. Boats rock in the calm waters of the harbor and drift along the horizon with their sails billowing in the breeze. The skyline welcomes you with the colossal Sky Tower, the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere, standing watch over the city like a guard. Begin your adventure through the North Island with a visit to Kelly Tarlton’s Antarctic Encounter. The cold air brushes your cheeks as the simulated arctic experience wraps around you. The penguins waddle along the undulating ice surface and squawk in the open space. Climb aboard the virtual snowcat and feel the rumble and rock of the machine that takes scientists and explorers across the frozen tundra. Venture deeper into the encounter where you can also see the underwater world, where an incredible variety of turtles, sharks, and fish are housed. You can even stick your hand into the Stingray Bay, home to giant stingrays, and brush your fingers across the slick skin of the ray.

Continue your adventure with a visit to the Auckland Zoo where animals roam and keepers are always present and happy to share some knowledge about the variety of species within the zoo. Experience one of the many animal encounters meant to show off the beauty and, often, oddities of the animals within the zoo, from orangutans to porcupines, tigers to spider monkeys, and to a show dedicated to the native species of New Zealand. There is no lack of information, fun, and community within the inviting space of the Auckland Zoo. As the day begins to fade into night you will journey to the Sky Tower, which glows a bright purple in the night sky. Watch the city of Auckland light up the night as the city begins to shine with you adorning it all atop Auckland’s highest point.

Travel Review: Luxury South Pacific Honeymoon, New Zealand, Fiji, Auckland, Rotorua, Queenstown, Wahiki Island, Milford Sound

We just recently returned from a two week getaway to New Zealand and Fiji that was arranged bythis travel company. I worked with Lindsay to complete the itinerary for a trip of the lifetime. We started in Auckland for a trip to Wahiki Island with a private van and tour guide for the day. The next day we were off to the Waitomo Caves, and since there had been a lot of rain we had our tour changed to another activity when we arrived. Next we made it to Rotorua for a white water rafting and mountain biking trip followed by a Maori dinner experience that night. Lastly, we hopped on a plane to Queenstown where we visited the Milford Sound and golfed at Milbrook. After a few days in Queenstown we left for relaxation and sunshine in Fiji. The entire experience with this company went smoothly and Lindsay was very informative during the entire planning process. Once we arrived in New Zealand and Fiji we were picked up right away and given important documents for our trip. There were a few hiccups during our stay, but nothing that the travel agency could control. Once we returned I informed Lindsay of the issues (mainly cancelled activities because of weather) and she is looking into each issue so we can be refunded. I would definitely work with this company again for a future trip!

Travel Review: Trip to Australia & New Zealand, Sydney, Melbourne, Queenstown, Rotorua, Uluru, Met Cook, Great Ocean Road

We have just returned from a 6 week trip to Australia and New Zealand.  Our travel agents and their team at this travel company are personable, professional, knowledgeable and did an amazing job putting together our trip! Our collaboration involved several phone calls to discuss options and preferences as our trip was being organized as well as a pre-trip call to answer any questions.  Our email exchange was continuous and responses were very prompt.  We even received a call once during our travels to check in.  Our detailed itinerary was precise and accurate.  Every connection, tour, driver, hotel, etc. was on time and of excellent quality. While in New Zealand in Milford Sound our flight back to Queenstown was cancelled due to poor weather and we received a quick refund.

In Australia we visited Sydney, Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road ( a favorite of ours!), Uluru, Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef, and Hobart, Tasmania.  We only stayed a few days in Tasmania but would love to return to enjoy more of the wilderness outside of Hobart.

In New Zealand we visited Auckland and then drove to the Coromandel Peninsula, Rotorua, and Napier.  Then we flew to Christchurch on the South Island and drove to Mt. Cook, Queenstown, and Dunedin.  If you are big fans of the outdoors, spend more time on the South Island.

Our agent selected beautiful and centrally located lodging that usually offered laundry facilities-helpful for a long trip!  The travel company also provided a suggested restaurant list that proved to be excellent!  We would highly recommend this company for your Down Under adventures!  When we travel again to that part of the world, we will definitely call this company.

New Zealand Luxury Trip Review: Rotorua, Queenstown, Hobbiton, Wellington, Glenorchy, Milford Sound, Māori Culture, Museum

We have been fortunate and blessed to travel the world and have used Zicasso to point us in the right direction. This travel company is among our top three; no, make that number one; the best travel agency we have worked with on all accounts.

Our agent and her team hit a home run. From the drivers and local guides to the food choices, experiences, lodging, and delightful and professional expertise shown to us, all of our expectations were exceeded. Truly, they care about making a traveler feel so very welcome, and the sheer beauty of New Zealand was only surpassed by the warm, kind, joyful, and loving people.

There were so many instances in which we had to pinch ourselves to make certain the magical journey was real. From the most delightful, delicious, and charming dinner with a magnificent Māori family, to the helicopter ride to Mount Owen, the boat trip to Abel Tasman, our Milford Sound boat ride, the Weta Studios, the magnificent lodging in Rotorua, and personally meeting our agent during our stay in Nelson, our two-week journey kept building more and more cherished memories. As it turned out, one of my friend’s daughters is studying in Christchurch, and after viewing our itinerary and speaking with another team member of the company, he and his wife have decided to explore other parts of New Zealand using this exemplary, professional, and probably best, detailed-oriented company.

We want to personally thank our agent for her marvelous suggestions, arrangements, and positive, charming, professional, and gracious personality. You truly created a most memorable trip experience that will not be forgotten and will always be appreciated.

New Zealand Travel Review: Queens town, Milford Sound, Franz Josef, Kaikoura, Picton, Taupo, Rotorua, Waitomo, Matamata

We had an amazing time in New Zealand and used Zicasso to find an agent.  I spoke on the phone with them and they made a custom plan for us and price was competitive with several other companies.  They communicated quickly and sent our itinerary by email.  We used them to plan a  10 day, 9 night travel of the South Island including Queens town, Milford Sound, Franz. Josef, and Kaikoura.  We then took a ferry from Picton and met our relatives on the North Island and spent 6 days there going to Taupo, Rotorua, Waitomo,  Matamata and leaving via Auckland (North Island was on our own).

There was a change to our flight and we were not updated until we got our final itinerary by email so I would book flights separately in the future.  In addition, be aware they use another agent ATS Pacific to handle local arrangements and they made an error not booking a Milford Sound that we specifically requested and paid.  We did not see the error until we received vouchers and packet in New Zealand so spent some vacation time calling and emailing to fix the mistake.

Overall, we enjoyed our vacation and other than the agent's error in booking our Milford Sound trip, our flight getting rained out and some minor issues with Bluebridge, everything ran smoothly with taxi transfer, coaches and trains.

Luxury South Pacific Vacation Review: Australia, New Zealand, Auckland, Sydney, Port Douglas, Queenstown, Milford Sound

~~Over all we had a great trip.  All the tours were outstanding.  The tour guides are some of the best I have ever had.  Not only did they know about the tour we were on, but gave us history and geography lessons on the areas that we were visiting.  We had booked fly-cruise-fly to Milford Sound. When we got to Queenstown, we went into the tour company's office to confirm for the following day and ask about weather.  They had not flown the previous 3 days due to fog at the sound and weather for the next day was predicted to be worse.  We changed the booking to bus-cruise-bus (5 hour tour turns in to 13 hours), but were told any refund of the difference would have to go back through the travel agent.  It snowed in Queenstown the day of the trip.  If we had not taken the bus we would never have seen the sound (For reference I was told at the airport when we left Queenstown that they only fly about 1/3 of the time to the sound, because the sound gets 7-9 meters of rain a year). I would highly recommend all but one of the hotels: The hotel in Auckland was as nice as any hotel I have stayed in; the Holiday in Rotorua was the best Holiday Inn  ever---outstanding rooms and great service; our hotel in Queenstown had great views and service—when we checked in they ask if they could arrange or confirm any tours and since we checked out before breakfast service, and they packed us breakfast boxes with enough food for breakfast and lunch; the apartments in Port Douglas were beautiful- our reservation was for a two bedroom but they were not full so they put us in a three bedroom so we would have more space in the living room; the hotel in Sydney was a big letdown after Auckland; I should have stayed with our agent’s recommendation even if there was construction; the hotel is well located and our room was large, but as my wife said it was depressing i.e. needs updated and in addition we had trouble communicating with the staff at front desk (English was a recent second language).

Our travel agent must be very busy, since in our travels we met 4 other couples for whom she arranged their tours and all of them seemed to be happy with her service as we were.

New Zealand Travel Review: Auckland, Queenstown, Milford Sound, Sailing, Wine Tasting, Hiking, 2 Week Adventure Trip
This was a trip of a lifetime.  We worked well together, came up with an awesome itinerary for 6 weeks to New Zealand and Australia.  You name it we were going to do it.  This truly was an itinerary with planes, trains & automobiles.  Let's not forget to include boats, helicopter, camel and kayak.  We had such a variety of things planned including wine tasting in both NZ and Australia.  I can't say enough good things about our travel company!!!  In the planning stages they even spoke to us about where and when to go as far as seasons and which way to go whether it be Australia first or NZ. As it turned out, the recommendation to go to New Zealand first was perfect. We were saved the experience of Australia for only a few weeks and maybe being stuck there!  No stone was left unturned, even when the fires occurred in Australia.  Our impact was going to be minimal. We left the US on March 9th for NZ arriving on the 11th.  No problems with Covid-19, we continued on with our itinerary.  Sailing in the harbor in Auckland, wine tasting on a beautiful little island outside of Auckland.  On to Queenstown which is delightful and Milford Sound for an overnight on a ship.  Absolutely beautiful.  Glad we did this vs a day trip or boat ride.  We flew back to Queenstown, which I'd recommend because you have a great overview of the mountains.  Breathtaking!!  Picked up a rental car and drove to Franz Josef to climb the glacier.  We're an older couple, but this was an incredible, first-time experience! My husband still marvels! We took a train to Christchurch which is still suffering the after effects of the 2011 earthquake.  Again a train up the Pacific Coast which is beautiful to Nelson.  Kayaking, hiking and a catamaran in the Tasman Sea.  What scenery!!  Up to Rotorua for more fun.  Well this is where the wheels starting coming off of our fun.  Things got cancelled because of Covid-19 and the ever changing environment of new shut downs and what the government was asking of people and vacationers.  Starting on the 15th of March our travel agent was continually in contact with us about Covid-19 and how our itinerary was going to be impacted.  She made alternative suggestions, we made the decision to extend in NZ.  As our trip went along, things kept changing....  NZ decided to shut down on March 25 midnight.  Our new flight home was March 29, then March 27.  She worked with us so closely and was so helpful she actually got us a flight home on March 25.  While we were having fun and enjoying ourselves, this company was working for us behind the scenes.  You can't ask for more than that!!  By the way, we came home and quarantined.  To date, we're healthy.
