Detailed Description

When you travel to the Peruvian cities Cusco and Lima, you are sure to experience the very best of culture, history, and of course, tantalizing cuisine. Just like Peru's varied landscapes (beaches, mountains, jungles, deserts, and valleys), local gastronomy also offers diverse flavors any palate will enjoy. Each traditional food tells a story that reaches far beyond the table – some dating back thousands of years to ancient civilizations. You will experience culinary excellence and more during your thrilling seven-day expedition to Peru.

Your journey will begin in sunny Lima, the nation's capital. As soon as you arrive, you will be confronted with the energetic flurry of activity that ensues each day. Motorcycles whiz around central boulevards and taxis careen along the coast. Families gather in seaside parks while street vendors serve up tantalizing skewers of grilled meat. You will stay in the prestigious neighborhood of Miraflores and spend the evening along the water. At dusk, you can sit down for a five-star meal of authentic Peruvian ceviche.

In the morning, it's off to Cusco, where you will explore the effervescent buzz of outdoor markets and banter with locals while you peruse colorful displays of produce. Here, you can sample the region's most delectable variety of fruit, including the popular chirimoya or maracuya. Over the next two days, you will explore Cusco's ancient Inca ruins, Qorikancha, Tambomachay, and Saqsayhuaman. Then, learn about Spanish colonialism in the town as you pass through the Plaza de Armas. In the evening, you can attend a live music performance. At the same time, you sample delicacies of the Andean region such as escabeche, lomo saltado, and cuy for a truly authentic Peruvian experience.

Then, you will begin your journey through the Sacred Valley to the esteemed ruins of Machu Picchu. Board a luxury train ride from the neighboring town of Poroy to Ollantaytambo, a famous ancient citadel that served as a refuge for the Inca people escaping the Spanish conquistadors. An hour or so later, you will arrive at the sleepy town of Aguas Calientes at the base of the majestic ruins. You will spend the night in a luxury lodge accommodation before uncovering the hidden gems at Machu Picchu over the next two days. In the evening, you will enjoy a three-course traditional dinner beside the town's main plaza and soak in the thermal hot springs later that night. Finally, you will return to Lima for one last day of sightseeing in the Barranco District.

Travel Review: Peru Vacation, Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo, Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, Amazon, Hiking

We traveled to Peru for the first time in October, 2017.    It was a seven-day privately guided tour from Lima to Cusco, the Sacred Valley (Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes)  and three days in the Peruvian Amazon.     We thoroughly enjoyed every day on our trip!

Zicasso and our travel company planned the trip very well for us, with boarding passes, transportation and lodging that met our expectations, as well as excellent guides.     We would definitely consider using them for future travels!

Review: Peru Tour, Aguas Calientes, Cusco, Machu Picchu

Overall, the trip went really well.  I liked that I was able to customize the trip in order to meet the specific interests of my group.  Our agent was extremely flexible and patient with all of our last-minute changes and had everything planned out perfectly for us!  In general, everything was very organized (except for a minor mishap where the driver forgot to pick up our bags) and our transfers were on time or early to pick us up.  The guides were extremely knowledgeable and very familiar with the area.

One downside, however, is that one of the guides was extremely difficult to understand, so we didn't get as much from that tour as possible.  There were also a few points where I felt a bit of pressure to buy from certain vendors, but not so much that I wasn't able to say no.

We were generally very pleased with the flow of the trip and amount of time spent in each location.  The domestic portion of the Lima airport was a pain.  Our flight to Cusco was several hours delayed and it was difficult to get any information.

Our hotel is Cusco was in a great location and had great service and great breakfast!  It was, however, extremely noisy and it was not possible to regulate the temperature of the room (and we didn't have a window to open and let the heat out), so it was really hot.

We LOVED Aguas Caliente and would have preferred to spend a little more time there (instead of Cusco).  The hot springs were definitely downplayed.  Our accommodation was a great little modern hotel!  We had dinner included at our hotel at a specified time along with many others.  This dinner was probably one of the worst parts of the trip.  While the food was fantastic, it took over 20 mins just to get water.  When we did finally get drinks and food, a few of the orders were wrong.  Service at dinner was TERRIBLE and there was nothing done to remedy the poor service.

Luxury Peru Family Vacation Review: Cuzco, Lima, Aguas Calientes, Sacred Valley, Puerto Maldonado, Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu Trek

We would highly recommend this Peru travel company to help you to organize your trip.  We came back from a two week-long trip to Peru a few days ago.  We have been independent travelers in the past so this was our first experience in being accompanied by guides for a good part of the vacation.  Paul from this agency contracted with the local tour operator to arrange transportation and guides.  His dossier contained everything we needed to know, including suggestions for tipping, places to enjoy a delicious meal, and more.  All of our guides  were very intelligent, passionate about what they did, had a great deal of pride for their country, and highly knowledgeable about the sites, history, culture, and traditions of their country.  We not only enjoyed the tours, but also learned quite a bit about the Peruvian educational and political systems through our discussions.  The guides were respectful and easy to share our time with.  My only complaint is that their English was so good that we were less apt to use Spanish, although that was counterbalanced by their willingness to teach us a little Quechua!  Special kudos to our guide who supported us when one family member became ill enough with altitude sickness to have to stay overnight at a clinic/hospital.  We traveled to Lima, Cusco, Aguas Calientes, Sacred Valley, and Puerto Maldonado.  While we enjoyed some activities in Lima, we probably could have shortened our three night stay there to either venture to another location or stay longer in one of the other places.  Cusco was simply lovely and we had great meals and tours there and in the Sacred Valley.  We were treated to a delicious lunch at a new place right outside of Moray.  We loved seeing Machu Picchu but also were glad that we stayed an extra day to climb Huayna Picchu.  Our stay in Puerto Maldonado was lots of fun--our days were full with many ecoguide-led outdoor activities, including a hot trek through mud to a boat ride (fun!!), a nighttime walk, a canopy walk, and boat rides (looking for caimans at night was a highlight).  Overall, we had an excellent trip which would not have been possible without Paul's help.  He listened well to our wishes, made suggestions based upon what we said, and arranged for wonderful accommodations for our family.  We suggest that you use this travel agency to book your next adventure.  And also highly suggest that you consider Peru as a fun and varied country to visit!

Peru Travel Review: Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu, Aguas Caliente, Puerto Maldonado, Sacred Valley, Amazon, Private Ruins Tours

We were extremely happy with every aspect of our trip to Peru and the outstanding assistance and support by Stuart, Satish and others at our Peru travel agency. We flew directly to Cusco and spent two nights there seeing the various sites in and around the city with a private guide, then a private guided tour to the Sacred Valley by van spending the night in Ollantaytambo. The next morning we took the train to Machu Picchu and had a private tour of the ruins followed by a stay in the wonderful Inkaterra MP Pueblo. The following day we took the train from Aguas Caliente to Cusco - a very pleasant and comfortable way to travel. The next morning we were off to the airport traveling to Puerto Maldonado for a three night stay in the Inkaterra Amazonica Reserva. We had wonderful guides with a special hats off to Jorge in Cusco and SV. Our MP guide was also excellent. We had terrific support getting around in all the locations and would highly recommend this travel company to not only our friends but to all who consider traveling to and about Peru!

The travel agency put together a great trip for us.  We had two legs to our trip, the first to Peru, where we stayed in Lima, The Sacred Valley, Aguas Calientes and Cusco.  We had airports transfers at every leg and with 14 people, they made it smooth and easy for the pick-up and hotel transfers.  We had fabulous guides every day and al the logistics were perfect.  We had plenty of time to make our flights and trains.  Our guide in Peru was amazing!!  Three of us continued on to Buenos Aires and Iguazu.  Again, all the logistics went perfectly, our guides were also fabulous, I highly recommend Jason & the travel agency.

Review: Father-Daughter Trip to Peru, Sacred Valley, Cusco, Lima, Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, History, Culture, Wildlife

This travel agency and it's owner/agent planned a fabulous Peru vacation for us (July 2018).  I'm impressed by the flexibility, customization, experience, and recommendations our travel agent provided.  He followed through with attention to all details, and he was available and expertly made required itinerary changes when we missed our connecting flight.

We chose the destinations, hotel star level, and duration (13 days).  Our travel agent then made the itinerary proposals, giving us guidance and input.  We chose to visit the Amazon jungle and the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, staying in 4 star hotels.  We went to Tambopata and stayed at the Refugio Amazonas jungle lodge for 3 nights.  The lodge and its surroundings are beautiful.  The macaw clay lick tour is not to be missed.  We then visited charming Cusco for 2 days, allowing us to acclimate to the altitude (11,000 feet) for our trek.  We had great private tours of Cusco and the Sacred Valley with guides from the tour company.  We then had a fabulous 4 day private Inca Trail Trek, also guided by our tour company.  The hotel in Cusco was very nice and well positioned in the historic district.  Our travel agent's choice of a suite at the hotel in Aguas Clients after the trek was a luxurious treat after camping.

I give this travel company my highest recommendation.  The trip was first rate, well planned, well supported, and a good value.  I also enthusiastically recommend traveling to Peru; the sites are spectacular, the people are friendly and honest, the food is very good, and we felt safe throughout our trip.  It was a exhilarating, memorable vacation.
