With all its spires and Gothic style, the heart of Barcelona is always a romantic place to start. Wine bars sneak their way into Roman stone while colorful boutiques hide down the mazy lanes of Barri Gotic. The Mediterranean is just steps from your hotel, where super-yachts lull and beaches await. Touch down and transfer privately to your hotel, where the honeymoon suite is on the top floor and has a small balcony looking out on the city. This day is at your leisure as you settle in, so head out into Barcelona and see why the city is so special, perhaps returning for some sunset viewing from your balcony.

Detailed Description
Spain is utterly romantic. Sure, it might not have the romantic fame of Italy or France, but it has far more to offer couples, especially with experiences that few have enjoyed. This handcrafted tour for two focuses on exclusive experiences to show you Spain in a way that others have not. Rather than queue for a Gaudi building, you will have exclusive sunset access to one of Gaudi’s rooftops. They say the best view of Granada and the Alhambra comes from Mirador de San Nicolas, but that will be nothing on the view you have from a hot air balloon. Instead of merely wine tasting, you will go tasting in a town’s mazy, four-century-old cellar.
This tour is all about the special moments, and it will be filled with select attractions that you only want to experience together. The two of you will travel to five distinctive overnight destinations with romantic accommodation in small, boutique hotels. Almost all of your tours are private, and most of the experiences are rarely seen on tourist itineraries. The itinerary will not be too busy, which will allow you lots of time to explore on your own together, especially in cities like Barcelona and Seville, as well as plenty of mornings to sleep in and enjoy each other’s company. Most destinations are connected by internal flights, although there are some road transfers as well.
Start off with four nights in Barcelona with the first 24 hours on your own to settle in before private after-hours access to Gaudi’s La Pedrera. Helicopter above Catalonia the next day, and then take a sidecar through Barcelona the following, experiences that come on either side of a luxurious private wine tasting in Penedes, the home of Cava. Fly next to Bilbao, and then get your head around the Guggenheim before two nights in San Sebastian, an elegant beach town on Spain’s northern coast. Here you can relax as you stroll the promenade, sample the pintxo bars, lounge on the beach and discover why royal couples were coming here to relax even centuries ago.
Weave into the Rioja wine-lands on day seven, tasting at two vineyards before sinking into the medieval cellars of Laguardia, as laid-back and amorous a town as any in Spain. It will then be a short transfer back to Bilbao from here, where you can fly to Seville and get your city introduction with a horse and carriage ride. That evening, you will go tapas hopping in the place where tapas originates. Other Andalusian specialties are to come with a day trip to Ronda and an authentic flamenco performance. End in Granada, the picture-perfect city that is perched on a hill and remembers the Moors. Hot air balloon above the city, tour the Alhambra, try the hammam experience, and visit nearby Ubeda and Baeza. Your two weeks in Spain will whizz by, and you will have memories to last a lifetime together. I cannot say enough fabulous things about the luxury tour company. It exceeded every expectation my husband and I had for customer service, care, attention to detail and planning our 12-day tour through Spain in mid-January.
We are seasoned world travelers and have been on many amazing and wonderful adventures. We've had great experiences with many tour companies, but none compare to the level of expertise and excellence of this tour company.
We simply told our trip planners that we wanted to go to Spain, and didn't know exactly where or what to do or see. They took it from there -- all by email, though they certainly were available any time by phone had we wanted to talk. We prefer email. They asked about our interests, what level of accommodations we wanted, how physically active we wanted a tour to be. They then emailed a sample itinerary. We tweeked it some. And voila. They planned a trip for us that was magical and memorable on all levels.
We were greeted at every stop by a driver and taken wherever our schedule directed. All of our plane and train travel in Spain was arranged. All we needed to do was show up. When we arrived in Barcelona, as well as Madrid a week later, there was a taxi strike. We worried how we would get to a soccer (football) match in Barcelona. Our young woman guide for two days simply said, "Don't worry about it. I am your eyes and ears, and I will take care of it." And she did. A driver picked us up, delivered us to the stadium, and waited for us at a nearby location until after the match, when he ferried us back to our hotel.
On our day in Barcelona that was planned for all things Gaudi, it was raining quite hard. Our guide that day did some quick thinking and as I told him, took lemons and made lemonade. He and our driver took us to a small company town outside of Barcelona that Gaudi had designed. In fact, the small church there that he designed served as a first impression of his large cathedral in Barcelona. Then our guide took to a former hospital that exhibited fascinating architecture and history. By the time we finished touring it, and following a delightful lunch, the rain had let up enough for us to visit more Gaudi designs.
Our guides arranged for us to visit a private Gastronomic Society in San Sebastian, which was so much fun, and our lunch was outstanding. They also got us into the private home/office/studio of two art restorers in Sevilla. After the duo showed us the type of art (old paintings and statuary) they restored, and how they did it in their studio, they invited us to their personal upstairs apartment for some refreshments and lively conversation about Spain, Sevilla, politics and food. So delightful and interesting.
Our entire trip was like this. Each and every guide at every stop was bright, knowledgeable and personable. Our trip planners laid pearls here and there along the way -- small delights and pleasures -- that surprised us and kept us totally engaged in the history, culture, food, wine, art and joy of Spain.
This tour company is 100% responsible for making our trip the amazing adventure it was. We look forward to returning next year. This tour company will plan our trip through Northwestern and Southern Spain and then to Portugal.
If you're interested in traveling anywhere in Spain or Portugal, and you want luxury and the trip of a lifetime to deposit into your memory bank to warm you when you're too old to walk the cobblestones, call or email this tour company immediately. Or email me. I'm very happy to share more details of our heavenly trip.
P.S. Our 12-day holiday covered: Barcelona; San Sebastian; Bilbao; Sevilla; Cordoba; Madrid; Toledo. We took two flights and one high-speed train during that time.

Wow, just wow! This 26-day trip through Spain was absolutely fantastic. While the process of planning a trip can be overwhelming, it was made easy with the assistance of Zicasso and the travel company. The travel agent really listened to what I wanted to see and do, and came up with a perfectly paced itinerary that included Madrid (day trip to Toledo), Sevilla (day trip to Ronda), Granada (a visit to Córdoba along the way), Barcelona, San Sebastián (and small villages), and Bilbao, with day trips to small villages and the La Rioja wine region.
We had a nice combination of planes, trains, and automobiles traveling across Spain. Our private guides were all very knowledgeable, engaging, and very enjoyable. Our drivers were on time, meeting us at airports and our hotels.
The hotels they picked for us were all wonderful, centrally located in the cities and within walking distance of all of the things we wanted to do.
Our agent was very responsive to all of my questions prior to the trip and we received a beautiful layout of the itinerary, which not only gave dates/times of each activity, but also a history of what we were seeing. We also received a list of recommended restaurants for each town we visited (which we used a couple of times).
The entire team at the agency was wonderful and available 24/7 while we were in country. Thankfully, the trip ran so smoothly that I only reached out to them a couple of times to let them know what a great time we were having. I would definitely recommend working with this team if you are planning a trip to Spain!

This travel company organized a 3 week trip through Spain and Portugal for my wife and me in late September and early October. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
We started in Barcelona (side trip to Montserrát) and worked our way to San Sebastián (and Bilbao), Madrid (and Toledo), Granada, Málaga, Ronda, Sevilla, and then to Lisbon (and Sintra, Casçais, Estoril). Our travel company arranged 4 star accommodations and activities for us at each destination. The hotels were mostly boutique style - smallish and well appointed, with excellent service and very nice rooms in great locations.
Each stop included a private guide for 3-5 hours, longer for the day trip excursions. These proved to be the difference maker. The private guide experience has so many intangible benefits. It allowed us not only to see the sights but to learn about history and culture and people in a more intimate way. The guides were all high integrity people — punctual, professional, thoughtful, and knowledgeable — and most of them were born and raised in the city or region we were visiting. They looked out for us and took their time to ensure we were having a great experience. They offered recommendations on how to spend the rest of our time in the city and places to eat. We never felt rushed or burdensome. Our stupid questions were met with patience. We laughed a lot and learned a lot.
It was clear that our travel agency was staying on top of our travels and reconfirming arrangements with service providers ahead of us as the trip unfolded. With the dozens and dozens of detailed arrangements, pretty much everything came off without a hitch. That said, you can often tell the character of a company in how they deal with things that go wrong. We had one minor hiccup in Sevilla when a service provider failed to arrange a horse carriage ride for us. The provider was incredibly apologetic and offered us a meal in the way of making amends, which we accepted. I emailed out travel agency that evening to make them aware and was surprised the next day when our travel agency had booked another carriage ride for us. This minor incident spoke volumes about this company and the quality of the providers they do business with.
We are eternally grateful to our travel agency and team for making this a trip of a lifetime. Thanks!

Our travel agency's expertise, organization and guidance of our tour of Spain was exceptional. This travel planner is a great listener and thoroughly reviewed our profile to tailor the trip to our specific interests: architecture, museums and gastronomy. We traveled to Barcelona, San Sebastian, Madrid, Sevilla, and different towns in Andalucía. In addition to fantastic walking, museum and food tours (Tapas, Pintxos and Txakoli), Our travel planner arranged day trips to Dali Museum (Figueres), Bilbo Guggenheim, Toledo, Cordoba, and Granada. Our tour guides were all local, certified guides with expertise in art history, Spain’s history and local foods. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They freely offered suggestions for dinner and activities on our free day in each city. Our travel planner encouraged us to self-drive from Sevilla to the Costa del Sol region. Our drive through the mountains was spectacular with acres of sunflowers and beautiful white villages. We stopped in Ronda and spent the afternoon exploring the city with its breath-taking ravines and gorge spanning bridges. We would not be able to self-drive without this travel agency loaning us their Wi-Fi Away device that allowed us to use Google Maps to guide us to various places. In addition, he emailed us our detailed itinerary with times, guides’ name, and description of our activities. At our first hotel, we found our full travel package neatly organized with several envelopes containing our train/plane tickets, maps for each city and side trips, restaurant suggestions by city/town and another copy of our itinerary. Our travel planner kept in contract via text to welcome us and gentle reminders to bring our passports to Alhambra. He was available to us 24/7 as he was during our planning process. People inquire “What was your favorite city or place?” and we can’t pick just one: it is like asking which of your children do you love the most. We are already thinking about where to travel next with this travel agency, perhaps back to Spain and on to Portugal or Morocco. Thank you again to our travel planner and your entire staff for an unforgettable trip.

The trip was 5 star in every way. All of the drivers were on time at the airports, train stations and hotels. The accommodations were all wonderful and centrally located. The tour guides in every city were superb. The itinerary was 2 days in Barcelona where we enjoyed a tour of the city by bicycle and a wonderful tapas class, a high speed train to Sevilla where we stayed for 2 days and picked up a car. We drove all through Andalucia visiting Ronda, Granada(Alhambra) and the beach town of Nerja. We dropped the car off in Malaga and took the train back to Madrid where we spent a day in Toledo and closed with dinner and the finest Flamenco show in all of Spain. Our travel representative prepared a wonderful journey for my wife and me. I would recommend this travel agency with a grade of A+............Harold S
