I'm not sure it matters how much time you spend in Australia, it won't be enough. Certainly our 14 days weren't. We decided to try to 'do it all'. Sydney with the Blue Mountain, Kangaroo Island, Melbourne with the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island, Ayers Rock (Uluru), Cairns (Port Douglas) with the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. This meant 5 separate flights in-country with 5 travel days in addition to our arrival and departure. After gently warning us that this was a lot, our travel agency did everything they could to make our trip as memorable as they possibly could. This involved multiple email exchanges, discussions of possible tour sites, several changes of itinerary and all done with good humor and efficiency. Their hotel recommendations were uniformly excellent - or as good as the area allowed. The tours they arranged were equally excellent. While not providing dining recommendations they did suggest contacting hotel concierges, well before our departure, which allowed us to make several restaurant reservations at the begining of the trip, making our lives much easier. They arranged transport to and from airports which was uniformly good other than one episode of being forgotten. The taxi cost was subsequently covered. They had a harder time getting the transport company to spell our name correctly. Fortunately they were only one letter off so easily recognizable. We were provided thorough lists of contacts with phone numbers which did occasionally come in handy. Our travel agency made all of our in country flight reservations. We were suprised at our first flight that seats had not been chosen. While we understood the reasoning, some prefer an aisle versus a window it was an unnecessary worry. We were pleased that this was rectified for the remainig flights after we contacted them. Overall, we felt that our agency did an excellent job for us. If we were to return to Australia or New Zealand we would certainly contact this company again.

This company arranged a trip of a lifetime for us. My husband and I spent 2 weeks in New Zealand and 2 weeks in Australia, all arranged by this travel company. Everything was first rate from hotel accommodations to tours to car services. Even the decision to go in the fall instead of summer was made because of their suggestion which was the right thing to do. The summers can be brutal in Australia and waiting until the fall made our trip that much more pleasant. The tours arranged were usually in small groups and were led by the most experienced and knowledgable guides. We also appreciate the help that was given to us in Uluru (Ayers Rock) when at the last minute their was a question about our going on a tour and being able to catch a plane the same day. They arranged everything so that we could see what we wanted to see and meet our plane with time to spare. They responded to any questions we had quickly and efficiently and checked back to us to make sure everything was OK. Everyone in both the Aukland and Sydney offices was very helpful. We can't praise them enough.

Zicasso’s travel agency did an outstanding job organizing our four-week adventure trip. Our agent provided us with helpful information and listened well. We felt she truly “got us” and came up with an itinerary that was a good fit for our personalities, physical activity levels, interests, and priorities.
The trip was terrific. It is impossible to single out a favorite experience because there were so many highlights.
We had a good balance between experiencing nature in beautiful places, as well as art and culture. There were several opportunities to get up close and personal with wildlife that is exotic to us North Americans, both in the wild and at wildlife refuges.
We enjoyed many boat rides, including, but not limited to, a sailboat cruise around Sydney Harbour, a boat ride along the rugged coast of Bruny Island in Tasmania, and a ride in the ferry to and from the MONA (Museum of Old and New Art) in Hobart.
The agency booked us in comfortable, good lodgings in good locations, mostly hotels, but notably a bed and breakfast on a family farm on Kangaroo Island, where the owner provided dinner and breakfast, and could have been a five-star chef.
Any enterprise that lasts for four weeks is bound to have a few glitches. None of the few we experienced were the fault of our travel agency and they were all relatively minor. Most importantly, whenever the agency became aware of an issue, they were always attentive and helpful, and managed to resolve the matter in real time and to our satisfaction.

Visiting Australia and New Zealand should be on everyone's list and when you find the time for an extended tour call this travel agency. Both countries inherently pose logistical nightmares to getting around - NZ with its mountains and Australia with its great distances. We needed to pick up and drop off a car several times and take a number of domestic flights so we sought local expertise.
Our agent is the person who runs the company and my husband eventually started referring to him as "the genius". He took our ideas and notes and organized a 10-week cohesive trip finding us beautiful inns and lodges with incredible views, recommended the best gourmet restaurants, and sent us on some wonderful wine tours. He also recommended some experiences that we had not considered that were unforgettable - like a visit to Kangaroo Island, and because we are hikers, some areas to explore that provided breathtaking views. But more than that, his integrity and commitment to his clients is foremost in your dealings with him. He stays within budget, resolves issues with suppliers in the background while you continue on your merry way, and if he feels you were not treated fairly, he steps in and offers compensation out of his own pocket.
This agent keeps mostly to conceptual planning and is supported by a team to manage the details. They review your daily itinerary and make arrangements to ease your way - like pre-booking your dinner on days when you have a long drive and will be tired. They call you if a plane is delayed, advise pick-up times for tours etc - with the end result being that you feel completely looked after.

This company was our travel agent for our 1 month trip to Australia and NZ. They did an amazing job – from initial trip planning right through last minute adjustments to help us get the most from our trip! We recommend them VERY highly to anyone who is planning a trip.
We planned a week in Sydney and 3 weeks in NZ. I had written up some notes to outline our thoughts. Our travel agent had read my notes with attention before the first call, and did a great job of listening as well as making suggestions during that call. He promptly created a great draft itinerary, and then worked with me to further tailor the trip to fit what we wanted exactly. We had an absolutely wonderful trip.
In Sydney our agent based us in the heart of the historic district, which meant we could walk to any historic site, lots of great restaurants, as well as to Circular Quay, from which all the ferries depart. He set up a wonderful morning walking tour that included the historic Rocks sites, as well as the amazing Barrangaroo Reserve, with our own private Aboriginal Peoples guide. We also had a very different Blue Mountains tour, far from the crowds, and a hike with a private naturalist guide, as well as an early morning entry to Featherdale – no madding crowds anywhere! Our main guide also arranged some delightful surprises – a “pop-up picnic” in Sydney, and elevenses with traditional Australian treats like lamingtons and anzac biscuits in the Blue Mountains.
In NZ our focus was on the national parks - Abel Tasman, Mt Cook, Fjiordland, and the scenic Trans-Alpine train ride. Our agent suggested a wonderful itinerary, and worked with us to identify just the right hotels given our interests and priorities. He also arranged every detail –flights, cars, etc. At the last minute, we changed our plans for Milford Sound to go there when it was forecast to be clear (it is usually raining in Fjiordland!) and our travel team turned on a dime and helped us adjust our itinerary – we ended up having a fabulous Milford Sound visit, with no rain, though it poured before and after!
All in all, a wonderful trip!
