Sydney – Lounging Around the Water on Your First Day in Australia
Take a window seat for the flight into Sydney, and you will not regret it. Most flights arrive in the morning with the Sydney Opera House sails shimmering white as an iconic bridge arcs over the Parramatta. Touch down and check into your hotel early. You will undoubtedly be jet-lagged from the journey, but there will be a full day to rest and re-energize before the adventure really starts tomorrow. When stretching your legs in Sydney, Circular Quays is always a good destination as Victorian buildings meet modern skyscrapers and the famous bridge. You could easily make a short trip to Bondi for some time on the beach or to enjoy the coastal walk to Coogee. Another option is to ride a ferry to Manly and its laid-back coastal atmosphere, or just stroll the city, absorbing the atmosphere down under.

Detailed Description
Visit Australia, and it will always be impossible to pinpoint an exact memory or an exact moment where you were fully enveloped by the local experience as there are just so many. Perhaps watching how sunset brings color change to Uluru or maybe wandering through a eucalyptus forest populated by koalas. It could be walking on a beach, appreciating how spacious and endless Australia’s beaches can be. It may be something in the city such as a Victorian arcade, or meeting with Aboriginal to learn about their art and culture. At every destination, there is a new landscape, a new atmosphere, and a new experience. All of them will feel iconically Australian, whether you are in the city, the coast or the red center.
Handcrafted to celebrate the diversity of what the country offers, this ten-day itinerary takes you to Sydney, Cairns, Uluru, and Melbourne. The city proves to be a leisurely place to start, especially if you are struggling with any jet lag. There is something happening at all hours of the day, whether you ride out to Bondi Beach or explore Darling Harbour. Go on a city walking tour on day two before climbing the steel arch of Sydney Harbour Bridge. Escape to the Blue Mountains on day three, where mysterious UNESCO World Heritage nature is complemented by a cruise back to Sydney on the Parramatta River.
Fly to Cairns next, and you will immediately notice the change in in the atmosphere once you are in the rural north and Queensland. Aboriginal culture is the focus of the next day, including a deaf Aboriginal artist teaching you about art, and then a guided tour through the flora of Daintree Rainforest and Mossman Gorge. Cruise to the Great Barrier Reef the following day with snorkeling and scuba diving on two remote outer reefs. Away from most tourist boats and better preserved than some of the inner reefs, the destination provides a true appreciation of the landscapes underwater color and life.
Fly to the red center on day seven and spend the afternoon in the desert, exploring Uluru and then watching sunset cross its frame. The nighttime is wonderful here with the desert stars unfolding as an astronomer shows you planets and constellations. Kata Tjuta provides a surprise the next morning, as you learn that the red desert has more than just one massive rock. You will then end in Melbourne, wandering artistic streets and noting the juxtaposition between very old and very new, which leaves time for a morning with kangaroos and koalas in a conservation area just outside the city where marsupials write the script.

Pre-wedding Honeymoon: Hamilton Island. Silky Oaks Lodge. Daintree Rainforest. Port Douglas. Cairns. Kuranda. Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Blue Mountains. Sydney. Our pre-wedding honeymoon was absolutely amazing! It was very enjoyable and flawless. Zicasso's travel plan for us was perfect. Our agent's knowledge of the country and her suggestions made in the planning of this trip made the transition to each place easy. She was so helpful and accommodating. One of the days during our trip, it was suppose to rain and we had an outdoor tour schedule that day. Less than 24 hours before a scheduled tour, at our request, she switched our tour with one of our free days. As a result, we were able to enjoy our tour, rain free. She was absolutely amazing, I feel as if she were with us throughout the entire trip.

Excellent experience the entire way. Booked this trip almost 2 years in advance. Our travel agent was outstanding through the whole process. Explained everything and let us decide and hesitate and change, never felt pressured.
Loved every aspect of the trip. Went to four different places each unique in it's own way.
Best vacation/holiday we have ever taken, will never forget it.

~~I retired and my wife and I decided it was time to take the trip to New Zealand and Australia that we had been talking about for quite some time. I discovered Zicasso while doing my initial research for the trip and decided to give it a try, in addition to the many standard tours we were looking into. I had many different firms provide proposals and after doing my due diligence I settled on this firm.
Our agent listened and consistently provided options and insights that resulted in a month long itinerary that promised to deliver the experiences we were looking for. She was a pleasure to deal with.
We spent two weeks in New Zealand beginning in Auckland, moving south through Hobbiton and Rotorua where we gained a deep appreciation for the Maori people and their culture. Then on to Wellington the capital. The ferry to Picton and the train to Christchurch were inspiring. Then we drove from Christchurch to Mt. Cook and then on to Queenstown. The night we spent on Doubtful Sound was the all-around highlight of the trip. All throughout the tour guides, drivers and accommodations exceeded expectations. Then we were on to Australia where our first stop was Sydney. Alongside the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge a highlight was a half day guided tour of the city in a 1964 Holden. Then we were on to Cairns and Port Douglas where the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest awaited. Our day on the Reef was extraordinary. Snorkeling off the beach at Low Isle was an experience to remember. Our day on the Daintree River and in the rainforest was unforgettable. While driving we stopped as a male cassowary and four chicks crossed the road and disappeared into to the bush. Now we were on to Ayers Rock where the magic of Uluru awaited. The Sounds of Silence dinner in the desert as the sun set with Uluru in the distance and didgeridoo in the background was magical. As our time was growing short we were off to Melbourne where we joined a tour on the Great Ocean Road. Wow, the Twelve Apostles and the coast exceeded our expectations. What a great place. Only matched, maybe outdone by the hosts of the B&B’s we stayed at. We’re not big B&B folks, but the Lock Ard and Little River B&Bs were perfect and we will try more in the future.
Our agent had truly delivered a trip of a lifetime.

I'm not sure it matters how much time you spend in Australia, it won't be enough. Certainly our 14 days weren't. We decided to try to 'do it all'. Sydney with the Blue Mountain, Kangaroo Island, Melbourne with the Great Ocean Road and Phillip Island, Ayers Rock (Uluru), Cairns (Port Douglas) with the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. This meant 5 separate flights in-country with 5 travel days in addition to our arrival and departure. After gently warning us that this was a lot, our travel agency did everything they could to make our trip as memorable as they possibly could. This involved multiple email exchanges, discussions of possible tour sites, several changes of itinerary and all done with good humor and efficiency. Their hotel recommendations were uniformly excellent - or as good as the area allowed. The tours they arranged were equally excellent. While not providing dining recommendations they did suggest contacting hotel concierges, well before our departure, which allowed us to make several restaurant reservations at the begining of the trip, making our lives much easier. They arranged transport to and from airports which was uniformly good other than one episode of being forgotten. The taxi cost was subsequently covered. They had a harder time getting the transport company to spell our name correctly. Fortunately they were only one letter off so easily recognizable. We were provided thorough lists of contacts with phone numbers which did occasionally come in handy. Our travel agency made all of our in country flight reservations. We were suprised at our first flight that seats had not been chosen. While we understood the reasoning, some prefer an aisle versus a window it was an unnecessary worry. We were pleased that this was rectified for the remainig flights after we contacted them. Overall, we felt that our agency did an excellent job for us. If we were to return to Australia or New Zealand we would certainly contact this company again.
