Amsterdam is comprised walkways lining canals, charming historic facades, and museums housing unique Dutch artists from past to present. You arrive at the airport where your private transfer is waiting to take you to your centrally located hotel. The Canal Ring surrounds the city center and is a collection of neighborhoods constructed in the 17th century. Grand townhouses overlook three encircling waterways. Small boats wade in the soft current of the canals.

The aroma of French fries wafts along the cobbled paths emanating from famous stands known for their eclectic array of sauces. You can see the rich details of the past come to life on the façade of the Museum Willet-Holthuysen. The museum is a fully furnished canal-side patrician house preserving the furniture, silverware, plates, and books from the Dutch Renaissance. Jacob de Wit designed a specific wall using only shades of gray, depicting cherubic joy with 3D like illusion. The beauty of the city and its wealth of history welcomes you as your first stop in Europe.

Travel Review: Luxury Trip to Germany, Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Zurich, Milan, Lucerne, Munich, Cologne, Rhine River

Although our trip started off a little rocky, my husband and I really enjoyed our travels in Holland, Germany, Switzerland and ending in Italy. This was the first time we decided to travel out the country doing more of a self guided tour rather than a tour with a guide and 40 other people.

I was a little nervous about how it would all work out and my husband and I were both stressed when we left because we were hit by Hurricane Irma one week before we were scheduled to leave. We were without power for 5 days and did not get it back until 2 days before our departure date. I wasn't sure if we were going to have to cancel at the last minute and that made for some unwanted stress. However we were able to leave without much of a hitch.

When we arrived in Amsterdam, our itinerary told us we were to be greeted by a driver at the airport who would then take us to our hotel. After searching for our driver for about 45 minutes and not finding him or her, we gave up and ended up taking a hotel shuttle to our hotel. Unfortunately, when you are stressed to begin with and you have just gotten off of an 8 hour overnight flight, this can cause some anxiety and angry feelings. Needless to say, it did not start out well. Our travel agent contacted me as soon as he found out what happened and made every effort to get out trip back on a positive track. Our time in Amsterdam could have been better had we been more relaxed, but because of the rocky start, we were so unsure about how the rest of the trip was going to go. There was some miscommunication and confusion with our itinerary, but eventually we did get things figured out and our second day in Amsterdam was much better.

We left Amsterdam by train to Cologne the evening of our second day. Again, there was some confusion at the train station as instructions were not very clear, but we did make it. We spent the night in Cologne and the next morning we were picked up at our hotel and driven to the Rhine River where we were to take a two hour cruise. When we arrived at the pier we waited for another guide who was to meet us to take our luggage and meet us at the end of our River Cruise. We were greeted by a wonderful guide who we then spent the next 3 days traveling around the Black Forest Region and having a wonderful time. On our third day with our guide, we headed to Munich where he took us to the BMW World Headquarters for a tour and then dropped us off at our hotel.

The next morning in Munich we met another guide who was also very nice and brought us to see some of the iconic castles in Bavaria. He also surprised us by taking us to see the Pilgrimage Church of the Weis, which was magnificent. From Munich, we took a short flight to Zurich and then a train to Lucerne. Not sure I liked this part of our tour. Too much time in airports and train stations.

We followed our itinerary to the letter when we arrived in Lucerne and enjoyed our time in Alps. From Lucerne we took the train to Milan where we had about a day before we left to go home.

There were a few glitches along the way, but our travel agent did the right thing and offered us a small refund for our troubles. The true gage of a good business is how they handle things when they don't go as planned and when the customer is dissatisfied. In our case, our travel agent did the right thing by us and made us whole. Although I'm not sure if my husband and I will be able to travel like this again in the future, I may consider using this travel agent and his company again.

Travel Review: Germany Vacation, Oktoberfest, Rothenburg, Sasbachwalden, Rhine Valley, Neuschwanstein Castle, 9-Day Trip
The travel company planned our vacation perfectly! We had a nice car (Audi but my hubby would have preferred a BMW or Mercedes), local iPhone which we can call the team for any questions- they were very responsive and helpful during the trip.  All the hotels were wonderful and restaurant recommendations were as well. Wish we had more time to explore some of the cities though.  Would recommend this company any time!

Italy & Austria Vacation Review: Tirol, Rome, Venice, Innsbruck, Walking Tour, Cable Car Ride, Castles & Villages
Our family enjoyed a fantastic, well-planned trip that started in Rome, Italy and ended in Innsbruck, Austria. The accommodations in each location were perfect for our family of five; each unique and welcoming. This travel team was accessible24/7 for any questions and to verify pick-up and meeting points for private guided tours. Our planner arranged a private 2-3 hour introductory tour upon arrival to each of our destination cities to give us a "lay of the land", identify local, non-tourist spots to eat and enjoy a drink, as well as give us the local customs related to tipping, dining, and everyday greetings/pleasantries.Additionally, the Private Guided tours in Rome, Venice, and Innsbruck were paramount since they permitted us to "skip the que" at incredible sites like The Vatican, Coliseum, Gondala rides in Venice, St. Mark's Bascillica, etc.  The lines at some of these locations were greater than 3-hours and the group tour's were massive and the patrons appeared unsatisfied were as we got detailed historical information and bypassed the waits.I would recommend this travel team for anyone looking for an incredible, tailored experience in Italy and Tirol!!

Review: Luxury Trip to Austria & Switzerland, Lucerne, Zurich, Innsbruck, Hallstat, Vienna, Dunstein, Wine & Cheese Tour

We loved the trip.  We would like to thank our travel company for encouraging us to have personal tours of each of the cities.  We were hesitant because we like explore cities on our own and we did not think this was worthwhile.  For the most part, we were wrong.  We loved most of the tours as we gained insight on the cities, their history, and culture.  We also picked up tips on local restaurants, bread bakeries, pastry shops, etc.  We were taken to sites that we would have never found or been able to see.  The tips the travel company provided were extremely helpful.  Having in country partners for travel questions/issues was great.  The hotels were great and were in perfect locations.  Some of them had fantastic views from the room.

Luxury Netherlands, Germany & Czech Republic Travel Review: Amsterdam, Prague, Cologne, Munich, Local Cuisine, 12-Night Tour
Our trip began in Amsterdam and ended in Prague, with Cologne and Munich in the middle. We also visited some small towns in Germany. Stephane, from the travel agency helped us from start to finish to design the trip. Speaking with Stephane was always pleasant and easy, he was very friendly and great to deal with. There were a couple of issues on the trip itself and they were handled quickly and efficiently by Stephane. He got us great drivers taking us place to place and knowledgeable and helpful tour guides.
