Travel Review: Africa Safari, Botswana, Chobe National Park, Okavango Delta Fly-Over, Photography

They worked with me every step of the way, listening to what I expected and wanted to see and that I and my husband were photographers and wanted great opportunities to photograph in Botswana. They set everything up for us, made sure that our camps knew of our interests, scheduled a 30 minute helicopter fly-over in the Okavango Delta and made sure everything went as planned. They were very quick to respond with a quote and provided a lot of information before we went such as tipping guidelines.

Travel Review: Africa Safari, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Okavango Delta, Skeleton Coast, Windhoek, Johannesburg

Our trip was wondrous, truly, thanks to our tour designer and safari travel company. He provided my wife and me with impeccable service, advice, and logistics. Most of all, he took the time to understand our interests and tailored an incredible journey for us. We received the name of this company and that of another company from Zicasso. I wrote both companies within 24 hours, indicating that my wife and I had travelled and lived extensively in Africa. That included backpacking across the entire continent and visiting more than 20 African countries in 1980, living for four years in Kinshasa, Zaire, and for seven years in Rabat, Morocco. In 1998 we had also been on safari in Botswana and done a self-drive safari throughout Namibia. So our request for a specially tailored trip was based on our desire to do something very different this time, to visit the most remote parts of Namibia, and to see some of the wildest parts of southern Africa. Our safari tour designer responded 24 hours later with a complete sample itinerary and a price quote. He was that responsive throughout our planning process, answering all our emails and queries in 24 hours or less. The other company said their Namibia specialist was out of the office, and we should set up an appointment for a week later. By then it was too late, as our tour designer had convinced us he knew exactly what we wanted and would work tirelessly to set up the best trip for us. We were excited that he had visited all of the camps he had proposed in Namibia and Botswana, and understood our interests to go far and deep, given our long history of travel in Africa. We asked to have a telephone conversation with him, and he gladly set up the time, and then answered our many questions. Clearly, this tour designer knows southern Africa intimately, including Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia, as well South Africa. He had many excellent suggestions as to the camps we were interested in, and the right amount of time to spend at each. For example, he insisted we spend at least 3 nights at Serra Cafema in northern Namibia. He was right, except in hindsight we could have spent 4, 5, or more nights there. Our final itinerary included Tubu Tree in the Okavango Delta (Botswana), and Desert Rhino Camp, Hoanib Skeleton Coast, Serra Cafema, and Little Ongava in Namibia. All of the camps except the last are run by Wilderness Safaris. Our trip was full of wonder, and we can hardly believe we're back home. We would go back to Namibia and Botswana tomorrow if we could, and we would only organize our travels with this safari tour designer and his company.

Botswana Review: Africa Safari, Kwando Concession, Moremi Game Reserve, Okavango Delta
I filled out a form for Zicasso and they had me hooked up with a travel agent right away. The travel planner from this company contacted me within 1 day. We swapped a few emails and then we scheduled a phone call to discuss things in person. Once I spoke with him, I knew exactly what I wanted and so did he. I told him we wanted to see elephants and African Wild Dogs. Our planner assured me that we would definitely see elephants in Botswana but I knew the AWDs were much more scarce. He suggested Kwando Lagoon because a group had been doing a study on AWDs so he knew they were around. I really appreciated our planner’s insight because we went to Kwando and we saw AWDs the very first night! I know he advised the camp because as soon as we arrived, they told me about the AWDs in the area. This travel planner listened to me and told the camp of our wishes. He suggested we spend 3 days at each camp and that was perfect. Three days was enough and not too short. It allowed us to fall in love with each camp and territory and be sad to move on. We stayed at Kwando Lagoon, Sango and Shinde and each was lovely. The staff were so friendly at each of the camps. The flights between camps ran smoothly. It was a well-run safari trip and it was the planner's attention to detail that made it over the top! We will definitely use the services of this travel company for our next trip!

Review: Luxury Africa Safari, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Kruger, Cape Town & Garden Route, Victoria Falls

Overall the 62 day trip went without a hitch from transfers, in country flights, to lodges and car rentals. The travel team was on top of our schedule and communicated with us and vice versa as issues arose and insured that things were smooth. They were attentive to our overall needs and style of travel. They found lodges and attraction sites that really fit us and there was always other suggestions for us to consider.

The safaris selected in Namibia, Botswana and South Africa, the add on side trips such as sailing in Cape Town and the ride into the Fish River Canyon were fabulous. The lodges but for one were just perfect, comfortable and gave us easy access to the areas we were visiting. The balance between safaris and seeing real daily life in Namibia and South Africa was just great. They also provided us with maps, routes, attraction highlights to see along our routes and travel guides.

The only glitch was we gave to our travel team a piece of our luggage to transfer to our lodge in Cape Town from Johannesburg and they utilized a courier service and they did not "insure" the luggage and items in it for any value. The truck was hijacked and we were stuck with all of the follow ups with our insurance companies.

Review: Luxury Africa Honeymoon, Tanzania, Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Zanzibar

We booked our trip with with this safari tour operator and couldn't be happier! Our trip designer was absolutely great, he listened to our interests and concerns and was always very prompt and reliable.

We spent two weeks in Tanzania, mainly on safari, finishing with a resort in Zanzibar. I'm convinced that our trip designer managed to find us the most knowledgeable safari guide in the country - seriously, ask for this guide company.

Our trip designer booked us a day in Lake Manyara (where we were about 5 feet from a young female elephant), from there we traveled up to the Ngorongoro crater, where we were lucky enough to see rhinos, and more lions then we could count.

We went from the crater down onto the central Serengeti where we saw the full migration and our first cheetah! We stayed in the (amazingly) luxury kiota camp. From the central Serengeti we drove down to Ndutu where we stayed at chaka camp (sister to kiota) and then finally we fly to Zanzibar where we stayed at a resort. The resort is tiny and they really focus on giving you the best stay you can have.

Botswana, Swaziland & Zambia Vacation Review
The trip received 5 stars from us for the driver/guide!  He was fantastic and because of him we saw many more animals and birds that we could imagine!  And learned about history and customs of the country, too.  And 5 stars for all the animals and birds.  The camping was a little more primitive than we thought, but every staff person did their best to make it easier for us.  We appreciated the prompt answers to all our e-mails ahead of the trip and to the fact that our trip planner met with us in Johannesburg before the trip to give us hints and answer more questions.  He also made all the special changes and additions to fit our special situation.
