San Jose – Between East and West
Welcome to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. The city resides in the Central Valley and contains the country’s heart and soul. The culture from around Costa Rica has settled in San Jose, creating a bustling melting pot of cuisine, atmosphere, and history. Colonial mansions line the streets of Barrio Aranjuez. Elegant hand-carved woodwork adorns the facades and porches wrap around the raised entryways. Your private transfer meets you at the airport and escorts you to a fabulous hotel that balances a central location with elegant seclusion.
The central market is an entire city block and houses over 200 shops, stalls, and restaurants. Narrow lanes divide the vendors by goods, from wood carvings to produce. Bananas hang down in decadent bunches. Large watermelons tempt you from their display. The sweet and citrusy aromas of star fruit linger in the air. In the evening, share a romantic meal over candlelight at a local restaurant where after the first crunchy and juicy bite, you can find indulgence and perfection in Costa Rica’s Central Valley.

Zicasso’s travel consultant was fantastic. They were responsive and delivered well on the request for a quick introduction to Costa Rica in three stops. Hotel accommodations were very nice all around, though our hotel in Monteverde cloudforest was a standout. Transfers and reservations went off without a hitch, and the pre-scheduled activities were most enjoyable for all.

Zicasso's travel agent did excellent job. There were limitations for our elderly father regarding hiking Arenal, doing the bridge walk and plantation tour, and navigating steep steps at the hotel in Monteverde. We may not have realized the extent of his physical limitation. Otherwise, the trip was well planned.

Mike and I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for our unforgettable two-week adventure in Costa Rica. The trip was amazing and exceeded our expectations. We were spoiled by the private transfers and private tours. All of the tour guides were professional and very informative. We enjoyed all of the selected hotels, with the lodge in Monteverde being our favorite. The hotel had a great happy hour with a variety of drinks and was within walking distance of Santa Elena. We liked having daily breakfast included and loved all of the fresh fruits, especially the cantaloupe and watermelon.
We appreciated your attention to detail and expert recommendations for the variety of tours and guides. We enjoyed the float trips and had a wonderful tour of the mangroves in Manuel Antonio. Our time in Monteverde included a rainy day hiking the hanging bridges and ziplining for the first time. I am glad we added the vanilla tour to our agenda in Manuel Antonio.
Thank you so much for making this trip special and stress-free. Please let your staff know that we appreciated all of their hard work. The WhatsApp gateway was great once we figured out how to use the app. It allowed us to communicate with the team to update us on schedule changes or other information. We will definitely recommend your services to our family and friends, and ook forward to visiting Costa Rica in the future.

I'm so glad to have been matched with Zicasso’s travel agency for our two-week Costa Rica trip this past November. Zicasso's travel agent did an outstanding job arranging all of the accommodations, as well as all of the transports.
When the weather in the cloud forest did not cooperate, an agent called our hotel to say that the night tour had been canceled and arranged for the refund to be applied at the next hotel.
The drivers were on time, every time, spoke flawless English (better than my Spanish), and were able to point out sites, including animals and birds, as well as give us tips on local cuisine (casados). Each of the tours our agent booked for us was just right, including multilingual guides, with professional scopes, who had deep knowledge of the local flora and fauna. Our tours were either private or in very small groups, which really maximized our chances of seeing wildlife.
Each one of the five hotels we stayed at was top-notch in location, quality of room, view, and on-site restaurants.
