San Jose – Welcoming and Exotic Escape
San Jose is a city encircled by mountains. The valley floor captures the sunlight, and the mountains create a unimitable skyline around the urban expanse. The arcades bustle with smiling locals. La Sabana Park echoes with laughter from children playing soccer or running through the grass. Men play dominoes and read on benches that line the pathway. The city is filled with an underlying charm that reveals itself to you quickly. Colonial mansions in Barrio Amon have wrap around porches and hand-carved wooden decks.
The quaint details and ornate roofs recall the bygone era of coffee barons. In the evening, you can dine in the sensual atmosphere of an elegant restaurant situated in a colonial garden and atrium. Hummingbirds flutter around the flowers and the candlelit flickers around every table. The light and elegant duo of fillet of tuna and marinated red snapper come with an eggplant puree and tomato confit. The dish sets the flavorful mood of the day, and of the romantic Costa Rica to come.

From the planning process through the trip home our travel company was there for us. They planned a spectacular itinerary, with input from us, and provided timely transportation to and from our various destinations within Costa Rica. They met us at the airport in San Jose and took us back at the end of our journey, with personalized contact and personable guides and drivers. I had not traveled in Costa Rica but have traveled extensively and have never had better care. We traveled to Tortuguero, Arenal, the cloud forest by Poas, Manual Antonio and Corcovado. Two and a half weeks of heaven. Anyone thinking of Costa Rica should go and they should use this travel company for a worry free vacation. Thank you!!

Our travel agency organized the perfect tour of Costa Rica. Our small group of 4 were treated as VIPs from the moment we arrived at San Jose airport, until the day we flew home. We even received a "welcome to Costa Rica" call and special "goodbye" call from our agency. Every transfer and guided tour was on time and the drivers were good. There were no worries or concerns, each day was perfectly organized and each hotel was informed of our itinerary. Our travel agency provided us with a free cell phone for local calls as well as walkie-talkies to stay in touch with each other. This added an even higher level of security to our trip.
We wanted to experience an environmental tour that would introduce us to the rain forest, the flora, fauna, birds, reptiles & animals of Costa Rica. We were amazed by the scenery and the knowledge of our guides on each of our tours. Costa Rica is truly magical. All of the hotels were interesting and clean, the staff friendly and efficient. We stayed in bungalows & cabins in the heart of the rain forest! The food was very good and served in more than ample quantities. Our last few days were spent at the Belmar Hotel in Monteverde and the luxury of that small inn and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, were a great way to end our stay.
Our only disappointment was that our internal flight with Nature Air from Tortuguero National Park turned out to have a connection at San Jose airport with a 3.5 hour wait for the second flight to Arenal. We were expecting a direct flight, and more time to explore the village of La Fortuna.
We would definitely recommend this travel company and will use Zicasso Handcrafted Travel to help us book holidays in the future.

Absolutely amazing, seamless trip to Corcovado, Manuel Antonio, Arenal and Tortuguero in Costa Rica. Our travel agent was very responsive and provided helpful suggestions and guidance before our trip, even accommodating last minute changes to the itinerary. During the trip, every detail was perfect and completely seamless. There wasn't a single day where my family and I had to worry about any "details", everything was perfectly organized which left us able to simply enjoy. We loved every hotel, every guided tour, even every transfer! I would highly recommend this company.

My adult son and I had a fantastic time in Costa Rica with the travel company. It began with our travel agent in Boston. I explained to him the type of trip I wanted and he was able to come up with a 12 day itinerary for us. He sent us a detailed description of what we were to experience and he was able to accommodate some extra things that I wanted to do. Two days before the trip, I was sent an app so I could check my daily schedule on my phone. When we arrived at the airport in Costa Rica, someone was waiting for us and took us directly through our hotel. The entire trip felt very well scheduled. We went with a group of people to Tortuguero for three days and had a fantastic experience. All tours and food were included there. From there on, we had a private driver and he was very knowledgeable and flexible throughout our trip. We loved having a private driver. We then went to the Arenal Volcano area and had a wonderful time. The hotel was fantastic with an amazing view of the volcano from our room. We enjoyed this hotel! Every guest had a private casita and the grounds were quite beautiful. From then we traveled to Monteverde and had an exciting time in Selvatura which is a nature park with suspension bridges and ziplining. From there, we went to the Pacific coast and visited Manual Antonio National Park. We saw tons of animals and at the end of the tour, we went to one of the beaches in the park. From there we went ATV riding, catamaran, night hikes, etc.... Our contact was very welcoming to us and she was always available by phone if I had any questions. This is a great tour company and they took care of us very well. I would love to go again!

My husband and I travelled to Costa Rica for our 5th wedding anniversary. We spent 10 days in Costa Rica and explored parts of San Jose, Arenal, Manuel Antonio and Corcovado. The trip was organized by this travel agency. Everything from beginning to end from accommodations, transportation, and service was perfection. Everyone we encountered throughout the trip was so friendly and helpful. The hotels were 5-star and could not have been more perfect. Everyone was where they were supposed to be when they said they were going to be there. We never had to call, it all ran very smoothly. The professionalism of the staff with whom we were in contact was amazing. I highly recommend our tour designer, she put together an unforgettable trip for us. Just wish we had more time to see what else she could come up with.

First, everything worked perfectly! We were met on time every time, and all travel was efficient and comfortable. The lodging selections exceeded our expectations. The room at the Parador at Marcus Antonio was excellent; we had an ocean view out front and a forest (Howler monkeys) out back. The service was as expected and the food was very good. La Paloma at Corcovado was a nice change of pace (very nice, actually). The setting is gorgeous and the staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The mention of "ticks" during the initial orientation freaked my wife out a little, but she got over that. We especially appreciated the "family style" dinner arrangements. We got to meet some very interesting travelers from around the world. The food was good, about what you would expect in the middle of the jungle, not gourmet quality. The Tabacon at Arenal is exquisite. We had a bridal suite with its own Jacuzzi. The hot springs were nice but crowded by visitors and many children.
All told, our Costa Rica travel agency understood the objectives of our trip and used that understanding to plan a vacation that exceeded our expectations.
