Detailed Description

Costa Rica’s natural diversity is staggering. Tiny rainforests are home to 3% of the world’s entire biodiversity, and more than 200 bird species fly around a single cloud forest. In Costa Rica, you can roam across ancient volcanos, ascend into a world above the clouds, feel jungle enchantment, and sprawl across the sand. This eco-tour will immerse you in Costa Rica’s unique places, where rare wildlife will provide you with a charming soundtrack, and iconic landscapes will help you connect with an ancient world.

Preserving space has been essential to preserving Costa Rica’s ecology. The country has been a pioneer in keeping the wilderness wild, and a huge proportion of the land is sectioned off as national parks and private reserves. Preserving space has been integral to maintaining both wildlife and culture here. Monkeys and butterflies have a place to thrive along with indigenous Indian communities that have been preserving their own traditions for years. Space also means serenity, and in Costa Rica, you can find your own place of silence. Eco is a phrase that is readily thrown around all over Central America. An eco-sotour is not just about the ecology that you will help to preserve, but it is a rare and exclusive journey to the special places that the human world is yet to entirely penetrate.

Eco does not mean roughing it because this Costa Rican vacation is handcrafted with a selection of luxurious lodges, which are establishments that provide luxury within the country’s mesmerizing landscapes. Location is key, and you will have a perfect view over Arenal, sleep inside the cloud forest, and stay at the enthralling border between the jungle and the beach. These small-scale lodges empower local communities and help them maintain nature’s space. Local people are the gatekeepers to these lands, and during this journey, you will connect with them, including a morning with an indigenous Indian community on the Northern Plains. You will also have the opportunity to see how your visit makes a difference in keeping Costa Rica pure.

You will fly to San Jose, where you will spend the first day in Costa Rica’s capital, easing into your vacation while exploring some of the local cultures. Wildlife encounters at La Paz Waterfall Gardens will then make for a charming experience on your way to Arenal, where natural hot springs can be found in the garden of your lodge. With a day and a half in the Arenal area, you can customize a program of activities to your liking, including hiking, rafting, biking, waterfalls, and hot springs. While Arenal is Costa Rica’s most famous destination, your guide will lead you off the main trails to places of solitude, where you can experience Pura Vida at its finest.

From Arenal, it will be a short road transfer into the Monteverde cloud forest, and your lodge will be located above the clouds. On your way to Monteverde, you will meet with an Indian community to see how cultural history is being preserved through tourism. Then, after the Monteverde canopy and hiking trails, you will finish this Costa Rica eco tour in Manuel Antonio National Park. Wildlife fills the park, and you can find an eclectic array of wildlife, including different monkey species, incredibly rare birds, butterflies, and sloths.

The national park will provide adventure, especially when your guides lead you away from the main trails. Just like Monteverde and Arenal, immersion in nature also means immersion in the reposeful atmosphere. You can drift away from the modern world and feel the escapism of a Costa Rican vacation. Beaches will provide downtime, and your lodge will preserve your feeling of privacy. With Arenal, Monteverde, and Manuel Antonio, you will be exploring the very best of Costa Rica. This is a vacation that is not only about the places that you will see and the biodiversity that you will help to preserve, but the feeling of escape that synonymous with the country’s Pura Vida lifestyle.

Costa Rica Trip Review: Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, Ziplining, Hanging Bridges, Hiking, Hot Springs, Private Tours, 12-Day Vacation

Mike and I wanted to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for our unforgettable two-week adventure in Costa Rica. The trip was amazing and exceeded our expectations. We were spoiled by the private transfers and private tours. All of the tour guides were professional and very informative. We enjoyed all of the selected hotels, with the lodge in Monteverde being our favorite. The hotel had a great happy hour with a variety of drinks and was within walking distance of Santa Elena. We liked having daily breakfast included and loved all of the fresh fruits, especially the cantaloupe and watermelon.

We appreciated your attention to detail and expert recommendations for the variety of tours and guides. We enjoyed the float trips and had a wonderful tour of the mangroves in Manuel Antonio. Our time in Monteverde included a rainy day hiking the hanging bridges and ziplining for the first time. I am glad we added the vanilla tour to our agenda in Manuel Antonio.

Thank you so much for making this trip special and stress-free. Please let your staff know that we appreciated all of their hard work. The WhatsApp gateway was great once we figured out how to use the app. It allowed us to communicate with the team to update us on schedule changes or other information. We will definitely recommend your services to our family and friends, and ook forward to visiting Costa Rica in the future.

Costa Rica Family Tour Review: Tabacon, Manuel Antonio, Wildlife, Fishing, Horseback Riding, 1-Week Vacation

The trip was great. The hotels were particularly amazing and I have stayed at many hotels around the world. Tabacón was so unique, it could be my favorite part of the trip. My husband and son absolutely loved the resort and the gorgeous private beach (and monkeys).

All of the excursions were amazing, except one. The horseback riding was on such a unique and wide open trail, we felt like we were alone in paradise on horseback (and the boys both expected to hate it!). Except for the fishing, the guides on every single tour were truly incredible and enhanced every experience. I would think twice before recommending that particular fishing charter. They were barely friendly and very unhelpful.

Other than that, everything was perfect. Somehow, they even made the long ride from Arenal to Manuel Antonio pleasant. Zicasso's travel agent put together a wonderful experience.

Costa Rica Tour Review: Monteverde, Arenal, La Fortuna, Tamarindo, Rainforest Tour, River Cruise, 10 Days

Zicasso’s travel consultant was fantastic. They were responsive and delivered well on the request for a quick introduction to Costa Rica in three stops. Hotel accommodations were very nice all around, though our hotel in Monteverde cloudforest was a standout. Transfers and reservations went off without a hitch, and the pre-scheduled activities were most enjoyable for all.

The hotels were wonderful and the staff were uniformly helpful. The areas we visited were great, especially Manuel Antonio. It was easy to contact Zicasso’s travel company via WhatsApp. Costa Rica is a magical country and this travel company is great.

Costa Rica Family Travel Review: Manuel Antonio, Private Catamaran Tour, ATV Ride, Rainforest, Wildlife, Beach, 1-Week Trip

Costa Rica was an interesting country and Manuel Antonio had a lot to offer. We booked late (August) for a vacation for 11 (including our five grandchildren aged 11 to 16). Zicasso's travel agent came through with many connections for housing and activities. She was quick to respond to questions and always very pleasant. You could tell she loved Costa Rica and knew the country. She was detailed, until she wasn't. We were disappointed that the final schedule had many pick-up errors, as well as miscommunications. It felt as though she had passed the work off to someone else.

Although it had been mentioned in previous reviews that a sloth lived in the tree above our pool at our villa, we never saw one. Everyone did enjoy interacting with the friendly monkeys and birds. Instead of swimming, the patio became a gathering spot for the forest animals.

The consensus was that our private catamaran tour was our favorite, even though it rained during most of our trip. The crew was very hospitable, always on the lookout for our safety, and professional. They prepped food as we watched and it was extremely delicious! Our grandkids loved swimming off the boat, jumping into the water, and sitting on the netting as we sailed.

We also enjoyed the private ATV tour (in spite of smelly, wet helmets). The staff, snack, and lunch were excellent, and the excursion was exciting. The staff were attentive to our safety. Unfortunately, two ATVs "died" during our trip.

Our final outing was a rainforest waterfall excursion. We feel this was a "last-minute" fill-in for our scheduled tour. We were picked up in a vehicle that was too small for our group and we scrunched 13 people into a van that seated 11. The tour guide was pleasant and guided us to various waterfall sights, but there was little talk or explanation during the trip. The fresh pineapple was delicious and the favorite stop was at Window Beach, where everyone enjoyed jumping the warm waves of the Pacific. Communication was lacking as we never knew how long we had at each stop. The food back at the business was just okay.

The villa was very nice and had some beautiful features. It was nice to have private bathrooms in the bedrooms, but we should have been alerted that we needed to bring our own shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We've never traveled anywhere that required us to do so and purchasing six of each at any of their stores was extremely pricey. It could have easily been handled with a "heads-up" mention. Also, the foosball table handle was broken, as was the dishwasher. It took a day for us to get enough towels for our needs since housekeeping didn't leave enough out. We lost time communicating with our host due to internet connections.

Manuel Antonio is an expensive town. There were many nice restaurants and one-of-a-kind, "homemade" shops, and the locals were very welcoming and accommodating.

Hilly, windy, narrow roads made it nearly impossible to get around without a car. So, as a result, parking was difficult as well.
