Havana – Welcoming the Family
You look out the window as the plane descends to find lush grass and swaying palm trees. One side looks out mountains rolling along the horizon. The other side overlooks the turquoise water reaching the edges of the historic city of Havana. Your private transfer greets you at baggage claim upon your arrival. The tropical image of Cuba emanates from the temperate climate and the emerald landscape edging the city. Travel along Calzada del Cerro, the boulevard taking you through the suburbs of Havana, leading to the center of the old city. The soaring, star-shaped spire of the Jose Marti Memorial stands 358 feet tall, towering over Revolution Plaza.
The Malecón wraps around the northern edge of the city, bordering the Caribbean Sea. Waves splash against the wall, spraying mist onto the sidewalk. Your hotel is located in the heart of the old city, inside a renovated 19th-century building. The elegant façade sets the scene of the comfortable, historic interior. Stepping into the lobby is like traveling back in time, delighting the kids and you. Polished tiles lead to the art-deco stairway. An open-air rooftop restaurant offers spectacular views of the historic city. The sophisticated dome of the capital building creates Old Havana’s skyline, challenged only by shifting colors of the ocean in the background.

Detailed Description
Your 8-day family friendly tour of Cuba immerses the family in a world far different from the lifestyle they are accustomed to. The Spanish colonial roots of the country continue to mark Havana. Horses pull carts along the main road of Vinales. Zip-lines crisscross the sky above the eco-community of Las Terrazas. The image of Ernest Hemingway and the legends of Che Guevara continue to fill the streets and decorate the buildings of Old Town. The family will experience the relaxed pace of the Caribbean and the indelible culture of Cuba.
Your riveting vacation begins with the family’s arrival in Havana. Your private transfer meets you at the airport and escorts you to a stunning renovated 19th-century hotel in the heart of Old Havana. A private guide leads you through Havana in a classic American car. Spend the afternoon rehearsing the famous steps of Cuban salsa with your private instructor, who introduces the family to captivating rhythms, along with the dance’s history. Set sail along the coast of Havana in the morning. Enjoy the salty air and remarkable skyline of the city. Return to Hemingway Marina to continue your day following in the footsteps of the American writer. Tour Finca Vigia, his former home, and dine at his favorite restaurant in Old Town.
Next, your private transfer escorts the family to the eco-community of La Terrazas. Discover the unique streets and thriving reforestation project set in the western edges of the mountains. Search for hummingbirds, visit a historic coffee plantation and traverse the canopy on a zip-line adventure before continuing to Valley de Vinales. Travel along the winding trails of Vinales National Park. Your guide leads you to a traditional tobacco farm where a farmer gives you an incredible tour of his property, the variety of crops he grows, and provides the adults with a lesson in rolling a perfect Cuban cigar. The kids learn how to make juice from raw sugarcane. Next, you return to Havana by way of Fusterlandia, a neighborhood and interactive artistic space.
Following your inspiring time wandering along the ceramic walls of Fusterlandia, visit a mechanic specializing in creative engineering, who ensures the continued welfare of the antique American cars cruising the city. Then, the entire family can delight in a hands-on cooking lesson. Follow your instructor through the simple methods of traditional Cuban cooking to produce an exceptional dish. Continue with a tour of a Cold War-era bunker set beneath one of the most elegant hotels in the city. On your final day, your private transfer escorts the family to Havana International Airport for your flight home.

We really enjoyed the trip. Havana was great and we would like to return one day. The drivers were perfect and we really appreciated their kindness and friendly faces every day. Zicasso's travel agent was friendly and took good care of everyone. We loved the Havana BnBs. The staff at both places went beyond what was required. The accommodations were lovely. The BnB at the beach was OK. However, they need to improve the seating on the beach. There were only two chairs that were comfortable and the husband of the host was using one when we arrived. We never really got to enjoy the beach because the other chairs were too hard or missing cushions. I know that it was requested that we add a day to visit this area, but in hindsight, it was too far to travel in an old car for older people. It was hard on the back. Also, unless you are interested in the beach, there isn’t much to do. I would skip that area, especially if it’s for one day.
The food was good in most every location we ate. I didn’t particularly like the dinner when we were at the beach. Sometimes the meals were too large, especially after eating a big meal for lunch and dinner. One of our favorites was the pork sandwich, which we ate on the way to Trinidad – simple and smaller. Plus, eating such large meals at lunch took a lot of time.
I think additional time for sitting in cafés and enjoying music would have been good. We really didn’t get to enjoy much local music, which was something Gary and I were looking forward to. The days were pretty full, so we would have had to eliminate something in order to do that, but I think that would have been OK.
We particularly liked the events where we were able to interact with the locals. For example, the dance school was very enjoyable. We also liked the senior center where we dropped off our donations.
We really enjoyed our time and, as I said before, we hope we can return for another visit.
In conclusion, the biggest changes I would recommend would be less time eating at lunch so we could experience more things, more time enjoying the local atmosphere (like music in the late afternoon), not trying to do too much on a trip, and not traveling too far, but it was a great trip!

The trip was wonderful! Everything was so great. I would highly recommend Zicasso’s tour company to anyone traveling to Cuba. Our guide and driver were excellent, and we really loved them. Everything was taken care of, from being picked up at the airport to meals and accommodations. This also included guided tours into dance studios, museums, rum factories, an architectural tour of Old Havana, and more! Again, I would highly recommend our travel company.

Our Zicasso travel expert did a great job making all of our arrangements and making changes as needed while we were in Cuba. Our local guide and driver were excellent. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, very patient, and so gracious. Our driver took good care of us too. The guest house in Havana was amazing. The guest house in Trinidad was mediocre. The guest house in Varadero was in a great location and just fine. We loved the itinerary. The activities were diverse, interesting, and fun. We could not believe the VIP treatment we received everywhere we went – the dance school, the cabaret venue, restaurants, etc.

What a wonderful trip! Zicasso's travel agent and her team were outstanding. The trip was well planned to visit the popular Cuban cities and towns, and included a personal trip to where my son's father was born. All the tours were great. Thank you to our guide and drivers! The accommodations, restaurants, and entertainment were terrific.

Cuba is a fascinating country. Zicasso's travel agent was honest and “real” from beginning to end. Having both an amazing tour guide and driver truly made the trip even better. We had a few hiccups that the tour guide, along with our agent, took care of immediately.

We had a wonderful time in Cuba and our guide, driver, and Zicasso tour director were all very professional and welcoming! We visited beautiful sites, including Havana and Trinidad, and felt we learned something about Cuban culture.
For future travelers, please pack a flashlight, as power can intermittently go out. Cubans are prepared for this and life goes on as normal.
We were well taken care of on this trip and since it was all-inclusive, bringing a lot of extra cash was not necessary. We recommend bringing cash for tips and souvenirs.
Our tour was in a charming 1952 Chevy, equipped with AC and plenty of trunk space. The food was great, especially for seafood lovers, and there were plenty of places to hear live Cuban bands. We highly recommend this tour and this travel agency!
