Amsterdam – Dreamy Introductions Along the Canals

Amsterdam has an incredible history, but also such a misunderstood present as the city is now mostly known for its less salubrious experiences. This is a city of real beauty, where historic townhouses line the canals, and small cafe terraces are found along the cobbles. Amsterdam also an incredibly walkable city as it is small, especially the historical area inside the main canals. So after checking into your hotel, it is easy to go for a stroll, stopping in whatever cafe looks interesting while snapping photos of any flower-lined bridge you enjoy. Your guide will transfer you to your very central hotel, and most of Amsterdam’s charm is on your doorstep. Set out together, and you will create impressions that confound many preconceptions.

Detailed Description

Small distances can bring big changes when you travel through Europe, and that is why the journeys are always so memorable. One day you can be in medieval Germany walking the lanes of Rothenburg, and just 24 hours later, find yourself in gondola traveling Venice’s Grand Canal. In the space of four hours, you can travel from the heart of the Swiss Alps to the old-world French town of Beaune. As mother and daughter, explore the continent’s legendary cities as you see the sights and savor the atmosphere of Amsterdam, Florence, Paris and more. You will also journey to the places that best reflect Europe’s contrasts from the Rhine River to Cinque Terre on Italy’s coast.

Handcrafted as an explorer tour for mother and daughter, this is an idyllic first-time trip to Europe that covers five countries in 17 days. There are nine overnight stops, but the pace is just right as you will tour city highlights with local guides and have plenty of time to rest on cafe terraces, whether on Dutch canals, Italian piazzas or French lanes. There will be art, architecture, food, history, culture, and just about everything in between. Perhaps most poignantly, there is the journey itself, not only within each destination but also as mother and daughter. Together you will explore the best of a continent, from historical Haarlem to Renaissance Florence, through the Swiss Alps to Burgundy and Paris.

Your time together will begin in the Netherlands in Amsterdam, a city that is full of surprises with no shortage of charm. From there, take the train to Rhineland for two days spent along the languid river, and then a night in Germany’s best preserved medieval town, Rothenburg. Hop next to nearby Frankfurt, and you will then fly to Venice for two nights in a city that reflects preconceptions. Make a stop in Verona on route to Florence, a city that is all about the atmosphere. You will discover legendary sights with your local guides, get to know the food and history all while soaking all your senses into the atmosphere.

The next several days are very relaxed with a very different pace. Begin with two days in a Cinque Terre village, a colorful coastal experience unlike any other in Europe. Move next to two days in the Swiss Alps for different scenery but the same laid-back vibe and enduring impressions. Departing the mountains, you will have a day in Beaune, capital of old-world Burgundy, the wines quite different to your time in Tuscany. Zoom onwards next to Paris on the train, and end in the City of Lights for perhaps the most timeless of all Europe’s destinations. There are sights to see, but Paris epitomizes the idea of the journey as the two of you create your own path along streets of cobblestone and intrigue.

Italy Travel Agent Review: Cinque Terre, Monterosso, Manarola, Lake Como, Walking & Wine Tours, 8-Night Vacation
Overall very solid trip and experience! Tina was very responsive to any questions we had.Pros:Hotels selected were great. Very good locations, clean and comfortable.Trains were very good overall. One journey was questionable (see below for con).Wine tour was a great experience. Great spot for lunch and some wine samples. Also small group in 2 vans was perfect.Private walking tour of Cinque Terre was good overall (scenery was spectacular!). Tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and willing shared information about the surroundings. Tour guide was also a con (see below).Cons:Questionable train journey was having a private shuttle to go from hotel in Monterosso to the La Spazia train station. When we boarded the train the first stop was.... Monterosso?? This meant an extra charge (and additional 2 hours of time!) for the private shuttle to go back to the train station which in turn stopped in the town we stayed in. Train station was only 700m away so it was not inconvenient to go to (certainly better than what was provided). Private walking tour - the guide was exerting gentle pressure to not do the last section walking from Vernazza to Monterosso (walking tour from Manarola to Monterosso) as it was not as interesting or scenic. He suggested not doing this walk 3 times before we said that our expectation was to complete the walk as that is what we paid for. He was fine and took us but it was still a little odd.Lake Como - initially was to have been a small tour but a large bus tour was the substitute since the small tour did not have enough people. This tour company initially did not have our names and so that took time to work through but thankfully we did (someone else on tour had a similar issue and were told to either pay for the tour or find their own way back to Milan). The tour itself was mediocre with guides that were not very interested nor interesting to listen to. Plus, with the expectation of a small tour, a large tour bus group is not appealing.

Italy Review, Florence, Gelato Making, Truffle Hunting, Cooking Class, Mother & Daughter Trip

The travel company was OK. The drivers were always there. The hotels were nice and in good locations, generally. We had guides in three cities. One of the guides was really terrific. The other two were knowledgable but didn't talk to my daughter (14 years old) with whom I was traveling and one of them was very difficult to understand because of her strong accent so we learn much those two days. We had agreed on some things we wanted to do in two of the cities and the travel company said they would include them in the tours but didn't. We had a few food-focused activities set up. Gelato making was excellent. A day in the market and cooking was just OK - the facilities were really nice but the food actually wasn't particularly good. The one bad activity was truffle hunting which didn't correspond at all to what the itinerary said it was and it was really just wine tasting which wasn't an ideal day for a 14 year old. In any event, I would not work with this company again. I would have been better off just using tripadvisor and booking the trip on my own.

Travel Review: Germany Vacation, Oktoberfest, Rothenburg, Sasbachwalden, Rhine Valley, Neuschwanstein Castle, 9-Day Trip
The travel company planned our vacation perfectly! We had a nice car (Audi but my hubby would have preferred a BMW or Mercedes), local iPhone which we can call the team for any questions- they were very responsive and helpful during the trip.  All the hotels were wonderful and restaurant recommendations were as well. Wish we had more time to explore some of the cities though.  Would recommend this company any time!

Travel Review: Anniversary Trip to Italy, Rome, Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Positano, Truffle Hunt, Cooking Class, Food Tour

Locations Visited: Venice, Verona, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Pienze, Rome, Pompeii, Positano

My husband and I planned this trip for our 10-year anniversary. I’m a person with high expectation and this travel agency exceeded all my expectations. The entire trip was dream.

We opted for personalized tours and transport for 95% of our trip. All of our drivers were wonderful. They arrived on time and made sure we made it to all of our destinations without issue. They had the contact information for the tour guides we were meeting. Upon arrival to our first hotel, a local cell phone and gift were given to us. Having the iPhone during our trip made any needed communication with our agent and his team a breeze. In addition, we used the phone apps for navigation throughout the cities we visited. We made a last-minute request for an additional private transport, and our agent was able to make it happen. We greatly appreciated their customer service.

We participated in a several unique experiences while in Italy. We went truffle hunting in Pienza, which was amazing. After, we were served a meal that highlighted truffles and the cheeses made locally. In addition, we did a cooking day in Rome. This was a private cooking class where we made pasta, several sauces, and appetizers. The one disappointment is that we never received the recipes from the chef (we were told by the chef that they would be emailed to us). However, this is a knock on the chef and not our travel agent. Once the class was done, we were served a meal in a private garden area. Lastly, we did a food walking tour in Rome. This was an amazing way to find local cuisine that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise. A wonderful experience.

All of our tour guides were excellent. They were knowledgeable, friendly, and familiar with the cities. We had one guide that really went into the details and reasons for expressions in the art. We didn’t care for that, but we didn’t specify that ahead of time or to the guide. It was wonderful seeing her excitement and passion for all of the amazing working works of art and sculpture that we saw.

Overall, I would highly recommend this travel agent and his team if you are traveling to Italy!! You will not be disappointed. We gave him our wish list of activities, accommodation preferences, etc. ahead of time and he made sure we got them all! Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable trip. If we are able to return to Italy, you will be hearing from us.

Honeymoon Review: Italy, Tuscan Wineries Tour, Rome Pasta Making Class, Venice Gondola Ride, Positano, Cinque Terre
Words cannot describe the joy we felt during our Italian honeymoon, so meticulously and brilliantly put together by our wonderful travel agent from this tour company. We spent two weeks traveling around Italy with time spent in Venice, Florence & Tuscany, Pompei, Positano, Rome, and Vernazza (Cinque Terre). The travel agent crafted a wonderful itinerary, with excellent excursions and day tours, which included both private and group tours. All the tour companies she booked, including Walks of Italy, Tuscan Tour, Pompei tour, and Cinque Terre boat tour were stellar. Any problem we may have ran into, our travel agent was always available via App to remedy a solution or answer any questions we had. Even traveling by train from one place to another was seamless with our pre-arranged transfers/pick ups and booked train tickets. Each stop in a different city was so unique and beautiful. We experienced such once in a lifetime opportunities and now have memories we will never forget--all thanks to the planning and help provided by our travel agent and this tour company!

Luxury Netherlands, Germany & Czech Republic Travel Review: Amsterdam, Prague, Cologne, Munich, Local Cuisine, 12-Night Tour
Our trip began in Amsterdam and ended in Prague, with Cologne and Munich in the middle. We also visited some small towns in Germany. Stephane, from the travel agency helped us from start to finish to design the trip. Speaking with Stephane was always pleasant and easy, he was very friendly and great to deal with. There were a couple of issues on the trip itself and they were handled quickly and efficiently by Stephane. He got us great drivers taking us place to place and knowledgeable and helpful tour guides.
