Athens – Enter the Dream

Arrive in Athens and let the dream begin. The arid hills outside of the city are lined with olive trees giving the air a gentle floral scent that drifts along the terrain. You can see the Acropolis rising above the Old City, the pillars of ancient temples whitewashed against the open sky like clouds. The modern city surrounds the majestic antiquity blending the proud past with the friendly present. Walk along the Plaka, beneath the Acropolis, where the ancient buildings of Athens continue to stand and act as residences. You can practically imagine the men touting their restaurants, dressed in togas, proselytization the flavors of their restaurants. The cobblestones give an echo to each step. The scent of roasted meats and drizzled olive oil beckons to you. The delicacies of Greece are at your command; for a rich and unforgettable taste of Athens, sit along the lively pedestrian street of Drakou with the sensational delights at Skoumbri. Detailed Description

Let the dream continue on this 11-day trip meant to blur the lines between what’s possible in reality versus what dreams may come. Whether you’ve dreamed as a couple for years or recently started to share your thoughts about your love of Greece, this tour will take you together, inspire awe, and answer the question of whether the world could ever be this spectacular; the answer would be yes. From the ancient remains of Athens to the caldera of Santorini, whether the blissful beaches of Mykonos or the ancient city of Akrotiri, slip into the dream but make sure you don’t close your eyes.

The dream begins in Athens with a private tour of some of the most famous historical sights in history. Pillars pass you by, Greek busts and statues are on display in the Acropolis Museum as if they are home decorations, meant to be seen, not touched, but filled with family history. Your time in Athens gives way to the luscious waters of Mykonos where the beaches offer you seclusion or celebration; some offer both. The Windmills of the island decorate the shoreline and blend into the sky like clouds. The variety of options is at your whim to experience and explore; after all it is your dream. You could visit the island of Delos, the birthplace of Apollo and a once prominent port town. You could spend your days sitting in the shade with your feet stretched out in the warm sand holding a cool drink and your loved-one’s hand. You could do both. You could do neither but, whatever you do, you know it will be magical.

Your time on the islands will whisk you away to Santorini where the dreams found in the quintessential photos of Greece come to life. The white buildings have blue shutters and roofs and stretch along the cliffs that overlook the water. With four days to appreciate the wonders of the island, your time here could take you anywhere. Four days in dreamtime could take you on a romantic sunset cruise, sailing along the water with a fresh grill dinner and sparkling sea. It could take you through the ash-covered city of Akrotiri, known as Greece’s Pompeii; it could also take you on a hike along the cliff side letting you embrace the panorama of the island before you arrive at home wondering if it was all real; your memories tell you that it was.

Luxury Greece Honeymoon Tour Review: Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Akrotiri, Fira, Oia, sunset dinner cruise, volcano, hot springs
We spent 8 days visiting Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. We stayed at the King George in Athens, which was wonderful. The room was absolutely beautiful (we were told we'd been upgraded when we checked in), the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfasts on the roof were simply amazing: amazing food and amazing views. If I'd know how amazing the breakfast was going to be, I would have got up early my first day just to spend more time eating breakfast (and I hate getting up in the morning)! I would highly recommend this hotel. The Grand Beach Hotel in Mykonos had a very nice looking swimming pool, but otherwise the hotel was not at the same standard as our hotels in Athens and Santorini: (1) my wife and I were booked into a room with two single beds and had to pay 80 Euros in cash to get "upgraded" to a room with a king bed (this Greece travel agency immediately refunded us the 80 Euros via a credit to our Visa card), (2) the service in the hotel was indifferent, (3) the breakfasts were mediocre, (4) and the rooms were dark and cavernous (tile floors, not much natural light, and no interior decoration -- especially compared to the King George which had a wonderfully decorated room). The Grand Beach Hotel just didn't seem interested in being anything more than an okay hotel. And, it was a good 15 minute walk from the town. It looked like there might have been some small boutique hotels in Mykonos City that could have been more fun to stay at. The Majestic Hotel was nice. Not as extremely nice as the King George, but quite nice enough. The service was good, the breakfasts were nice, the room was very comfortable, the pool was nice. We had a great time in Santorini: took a sunset dinner cruise to the volcano and the hot springs, rented a car and drove around the island, visited Akrotiri, had dinner in Fira and Oia, and lounged around the hotel. Santorini seems to have been created for people to vacation on! The transfers all worked very smoothly. The dock for the hydrofoil in Mykonos was disorganized (no one in control, no signage, and so many tourists from China), but we found our way through the confusion and onto the right boat. Some ferries had been cancelled, which might have accounted for some of the disorganization. Fortunately, this travel agency had already reworked our schedule and made sure we were on a ferry which was still running.

Review: Anniversary Vacation in Greece, Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Crete, Delos, Knossos Palace, Acropolis Tour, Catamaran Cruise

We booked a 2 week vacation to Greece with this agent and travel company for the end of May.   Our travel agent helped us plan the perfect vacation for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was the most incredible trip, more than we could ever have imagined! She planned accommodations, excursions and tours at each place we visited that highlighted each place.  We started our trip in Athens for 3 nights, Crete 3 nights, Mykonos 3 nights and Santorini for 4 nights.

We were met promptly at the Athens airport by our driver taken to our Hotel in Athens where we were met by our agent personally to give us all of our tickets and instructions for our stay in Greece. As well she gave us a cell phone programmed with her number and the travel agency in case we had any issues during our time in Greece.

We stayed at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens at a wonderful boutique hotel. Our trip started with a private tour(highly recommend)  of the Archeological museum of Athens ,the Acropolis and the area surrounding. Truly specials and unforgettable! A romantic dinner at a beautiful restaurant in the center of Athens.  Watching the sun set on the Acropolis with all of Athens at our feet...stunning. A free day to explore a bit of the ancient and beautiful city then onto Crete.

We were met by a delightful young man, who was our guide for all 3 days on this amazing island. Wine tours, Palace of King Mynos at Knossos, ancient cities Rhethmynon and Chania, beautiful beaches and stunning views. We fell in love with Crete.

Then Mykonos. A beautiful little jewel of an island with beautiful beaches and ancient cities once attacked by pirates. A romantic dinner, tour of the island of Delos (incredible!) and getting lost in the maze of streets that make up Mykonos town.

Then onto Santorini. A jewel in the beauty of the Aegean Sea. Stunning hotel on the cliffs with a view that you never tired of, wine tours, a full day Catamaran sail to beaches and the Caldera ending with a magnificent sunset at Land's End. Santorini was the cherry on top of the trip. Truly a stunning island.

And everywhere we went the friendly, hospitable and welcoming Greek people.  We can't say enough on how well orchestrated this trip was. We had flawless connections, over-the-top accommodations, incredible guides, amazing excursions that did not disappoint at any of our island visits.  "More than we could have ever imagined" is how we describe this trip to friends and family.  We highly recommend this company and the travel agent who planned a trip exactly to fit us personally.

Thank you Zicasso for your stellar travel agents and fantastic job of Jackie who paired us up with such great agents to choose from.

Luxury Greece Trip Review: Santorini, Mykonos, Delos, Athens, Akrotiri Tour, Delphi, Arachova, 10-Day Vacation
Excellent! Our best travel agent - IRENE, she carefully thought through a well balanced itinerary. From initial contact to booking, to superb coordination by Irene, the excellent knowledge and wonders humor of our guides, and the selection of tour sites, it was extraordinary and unforgettable GREECE adventures. Irene made sure that we have free time on each of the islands and cities that allowed for shopping, exploring or sitting round watching islands life sipping a drink. The trip represented great travel for the cost and smoothly navigating all the trip reservations: plane, hydrofoil, jet boat, museums, hotels, bus tours, pick up and drop off exclusive cars with high class Mercedes vehicles. I would like to thank as well all the tour guides who are expert and professional in Greek history, our guide in Akrotiri especially (Akrotiri tour is my favorite). The archaeological site is overwhelming but our guide pointed out the most significant items and their context and meaning. All the tour guides who accompanied us was outstanding-passionate, informative, engaging and entertaining, kudos to all of them as they completed years of school in Greek history. All places are full of history and unimaginable stunning  places, from Cyclades islands - Santorini, Mykonos, Delos to Athens and other cities - Delphi, Arachova, including shopping to Plaka market and plaza. There is no place in Greece that you cant say "wow", extraordinary! Thanks to Irene for the best adventure and journey I had in GREECE. The only trouble is "I want to go back for more"! Janelle R.Florida, USA

Greece Family Travel Review: Athens, Mykonos, Rhenia, Delos, Chora, Santorini, Akrotiri, Sunset Cruise, Ferry Ride
We had a wonderful trip to Greece! My husband, two daughters and mom really enjoyed the trip that Anthony created for us with the travel agency. We explored Athens and had the best tour guide at the Parthenon that Anthony introduced us to. She was very knowledgable and kept my two teenage daughters very engaged.  Our next stop was Mykonos, and we loved this island. We took an amazing day trip to Rhenia and played on a boat, the explored the ancient city of Delos.  Anthony partnered us with a travel consultant while on this island and she was fantastic. She had such a fun personality and gave outstanding advice on places to dine and how to get around the island.  The beaches were beautiful and we loved shoping in Chora!  Anthony booked us on the ferry to Santorini and this was a fun adventure! We had great seats and found that the times flew by.  Once in Santorini we were picked up by our guide who gave us a great tour of the island that included a stop in a small village that was very beautiful.  We then toured Akrotiri and LOVED it! (That may have been my favorite).  Our hotel in Santorini was out of a dream. We had our own pool and a beautiful view of the Aegan Sea. We ended our Greece trip with a sunset cruise around Santorini that was just amazing. The accomodations were excellent and I love that I never had to worry about getting picked up or what to do on each island. I loved that each location had a new point of contact that was available for questions that I had.  All of our guides were very personable and knowledgable and went above and beyond to ensure that my family had an amazing trip.

Review: Sisters' Trip to Greece, Santornini, Mykonos, Delos, Rineia, Wine Tours, Cooking Class

My sister and I had an amazing time on our trip. We loved seeing the Acropolis!  Having the walking tour guide was very helpful because it allowed us to understand what we were looking at. The museum was definitely worth seeing as well!

We found it very helpful and reassuring that at each destination someone met with us to go over the area. In Mykonos we absolutely LOVED our resort! It was beautiful! The pool and beach was exactly what we wanted. This resort was nice too because it allowed us to take a shuttle into town a couple of the nights we were there! The town of Mykonos was so cute and the food was delicious!

Santorini is by far one of the prettiest places we have ever been too! Walking around Fira and Oia was breathtaking! We really liked the wine tour and our tour guide was great! Our tour guide did food and wine pairings and took us to a couple winerys.  It didn't feel rushed like going to some wine tastings often do. It felt relaxing! We really enjoyed the cooking class and getting to eat our tasty meal!

Overall, we had an amazing time on this trip. Everything went smoothly and was above our expectations! I would definitely recommend this travel agency to others traveling to Greece. Our agent was extremely helpful and geared our trip to exactly what we wanted!

Travel Review: Tour of Greece, Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Epidaurus, Mycenae, Olympia, Delphi, Meteora, Acropolis, Boating

Our travel agent did an amazing job of organizing our trip, with unbelievable hotels, like the one just 500 meters from the Acropolis with our room overlooking the Temple of Zeus and a rooftop restaurant with a view of the Acropolis. All connections went smoothly, including a car for 10 days, flights inside Greece, and boats to the islands. In addition, our travel agent filled us in with excellent advice about places to visit while we were driving ourselves on the mainland. All of the hotels were beautiful, and all but one, the hotel in Mykonos, had wonderful service and worked hard to make our stays great.  To our travel agent and his crew, THANK YOU for a fantastic vacation.

(The hotel in Mykonos had poor room service/cleaning and seemed only there to take money.  For example, in some of the Greek islands, only boiled or bottled water was safe, but this hotel charged for even the first bottle at mini-bar prices and did not even supply a hot pot to boil water.  This seems strange to me, since many Asian tourists now are visiting Greece, and they prefer fresh-boiled water.)
