Majesty of Mykonos Tour: Captivating Culture Throughout Time

What to expect on this itinerary
When people mention the cradle of Western Civilization your mind automatically brings you to Greece and for good reason; its as if the streets have been paved with columns and boat sails have been made from past togas, at least in some people’s minds. However, the remains of antiquity have also gathered a collection of cultures from across history and around the globe bringing the wonders of Greece to light. This 7-day tour will have you ready to experience these wonders that shine a spotlight and the sunlight on the majesty of Greece.

Athens – Awakened Culture
The wonders of Athens awaken you as you arrive along the meandering hills and olive groves of Greece. Check-in to your luxury accommodation and enjoy the day exploring where the antique beauty of the Western World has inspired the thoughts and scholars of the modern world. Step along the Plaka, one of the oldest streets in Athens winding beneath the rising pillars of the Acropolis. The creamy scent of olive oil drifts from the shops. The narrow streets are paved with cobblestones as the homes and stores harken back to the past, to the days when togas reigned supreme and scrolls were the closest anyone would ever get to texting.
On the northern slope of the Acropolis you can wander through the rising streets of Anafiotika. The 19th century neighborhood practically transports you to the islands, with the whitewashed buildings reflecting the vibrancy of the sun, climbing up the hillside and shaping the labyrinthine streets of the legend. The view of the modern city below sprawls out from the water to the foothills, giving the current Greece capital a much more expanded territory than the once great city-state you read about; another introduction to the blending majesty of time within the cradle of Western Civilization.

Detailed Description
Western Civilization has grown from the Golden Age of Athens to the turquoise waters of Mykonos. The mysterious and legendary temples of the Acropolis sit atop a hill as if on display in an outdoor museum, while the famous beaches of Mykonos bring with them the flavor of Greece fused with the world. This cultural tour beckons you to indulge on the most ineffable experiences of Greece, on display in their sought after history, and set along the shores of the islands; see the varied forms of Greece from antiquity to modernity.
Greece vacations provide a variety of cultures to explore, but this is no truer anywhere than it is in Athens, where the heart of European history continues to beat proudly. Follow your guide through the steps of ancient Athens to see the opulent remnants of the golden age of philosophy, along with the scars of occupation. The philosophies of the city blend with the centrally situated ancient, the contemporary, and the modern bringing together a cultural time machine layered like a palimpsest.
Arrive in Mykonos where the waters of the island span the spectrum of blues. The majesty of the uninhabited island of Delos, just off the shore of Mykonos, stems from its affluent past and the legend of the island as Apollo and Artemis’s birthplace. The ruins of the city decorate the hillside and linger along the shore displaying its prominence and once vast prosperity. Enjoy Mykonos Town where you can see the beauty of history built into the walls while the modern eccentricities of the city inhabit the interiors. The beaches glisten and invite you to press your feet into the warm sand and cool water. The windmills spin in kind breezes. Mykonos brings you to the edge of the modern world while keeping one foot firmly planted in the history of Western Civilization.

We booked a 2 week vacation to Greece with this agent and travel company for the end of May. Our travel agent helped us plan the perfect vacation for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was the most incredible trip, more than we could ever have imagined! She planned accommodations, excursions and tours at each place we visited that highlighted each place. We started our trip in Athens for 3 nights, Crete 3 nights, Mykonos 3 nights and Santorini for 4 nights.
We were met promptly at the Athens airport by our driver taken to our Hotel in Athens where we were met by our agent personally to give us all of our tickets and instructions for our stay in Greece. As well she gave us a cell phone programmed with her number and the travel agency in case we had any issues during our time in Greece.
We stayed at the foot of the Acropolis in Athens at a wonderful boutique hotel. Our trip started with a private tour(highly recommend) of the Archeological museum of Athens ,the Acropolis and the area surrounding. Truly specials and unforgettable! A romantic dinner at a beautiful restaurant in the center of Athens. Watching the sun set on the Acropolis with all of Athens at our feet...stunning. A free day to explore a bit of the ancient and beautiful city then onto Crete.
We were met by a delightful young man, who was our guide for all 3 days on this amazing island. Wine tours, Palace of King Mynos at Knossos, ancient cities Rhethmynon and Chania, beautiful beaches and stunning views. We fell in love with Crete.
Then Mykonos. A beautiful little jewel of an island with beautiful beaches and ancient cities once attacked by pirates. A romantic dinner, tour of the island of Delos (incredible!) and getting lost in the maze of streets that make up Mykonos town.
Then onto Santorini. A jewel in the beauty of the Aegean Sea. Stunning hotel on the cliffs with a view that you never tired of, wine tours, a full day Catamaran sail to beaches and the Caldera ending with a magnificent sunset at Land's End. Santorini was the cherry on top of the trip. Truly a stunning island.
And everywhere we went the friendly, hospitable and welcoming Greek people. We can't say enough on how well orchestrated this trip was. We had flawless connections, over-the-top accommodations, incredible guides, amazing excursions that did not disappoint at any of our island visits. "More than we could have ever imagined" is how we describe this trip to friends and family. We highly recommend this company and the travel agent who planned a trip exactly to fit us personally.
Thank you Zicasso for your stellar travel agents and fantastic job of Jackie who paired us up with such great agents to choose from.

Simply OUTSTANDING. Worked with this Greece travel agent - planned a 2 week vacation Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, and Crete - vacation including a 4 day "classical tour" and a Delos tour ...seamless and effortless .....excellent hotels .... nice and helpful contacts on each stopover ... convenient pick up and drop offs for airport or seaport. Could I have planned this myself - maybe(??) but with lots of time and effort and WORRY - with this agent and this travel company -it was WORRILESS. I would recommend WITHOUT reservation - this agent and travel company for your Greece vacation.

Our family had the best vacation experience in Greece arranged by Zicasso / this travel agency. I had never used a travel company before. I had always arranged my own travel, researched the location and accommodations, and prepared the itinerary on my own. However, I was pressed for time to schedule our family vacation and turned to Zicasso/this travel agency for help. I had such a great experience that I want to use a travel company for every future vacation!
Our travel planner was an immense help to me. Approximately six weeks out from our vacation time, she pulled everything together. I spoke with her on the phone and gave her a general idea of what kind of trip we wanted, and she created the perfect itinerary for our family based on the activities we preferred. She suggested the island of Naxos for our family. She gave me a few hotel options to choose from, which was infinitely better than choosing from all the internet has to offer. She arranged all of our accommodations, our travel from Athens to Naxos, our rental car, and all of our tours. It all felt very luxurious, from the accommodations, to the private tours, to the private transportation. All the company representatives were very welcoming and punctual.
We first landed in Athens. We had two sightseeing tours on the mainland, which were both fabulous. We had an Athens tour and a Delphi tour. Both were private tours led by our guide, who was absolutely the best guide. I would highly recommend specifically asking for her. Also, I would recommend the private tours. We saw many busloads of tourists and were so happy to have a private tour where we could ask questions and go at our own pace. We stayed at the Divani Caravel, which was a very nice hotel with a wonderful rooftop pool. If we travel to Athens again, I would probably stay closer to Plaka/Syntagma Square.
We flew to Naxos and back. We stayed in a private villa, which was the perfect spacious accommodation for our family of five. We took a private tour of Naxos. This was also a great tour. We would never have found all the cool things to see without our wonderful tour guide. We rented a car and drove around to the Naxos beaches. We did a day cruise to Iraklia and Koufonisia. There was no tour on the day cruise. The boat just dropped you at the dock at each island and gave you a time to get back on the boat. I think we were spoiled by all the private tours because we didn't have anything planned for these two islands. The day cruise was the only mistake I think we made on the trip. I would rather have had another day exploring the beautiful beaches of Naxos.
We returned to Athens for one night and then flew home to the U.S. the next day. I wonder why we didn't fly back to Athens in the morning, then fly back to the states in the afternoon of the same day.
We really had the best time. It was so, so easy to just show up for this trip arranged so thoughtfully by this travel planner. For our next vacation, I will see what Zicasso has to offer!

We had a wonderful trip to Greece, visiting historic sites in Athens and Delos, beautiful and relaxing Naxos, and breathtaking Santorini. I normally like to arrange all the trip details myself, but for visiting multiple islands, using the ferry, and arranging local tours and transfers, having the advice of someone with local connections and knowledge was invaluable.
The Zicasso travel agent spent time with us to understand our interests, helped us select which islands to visit, arranged tours with knowledgeable local guides, and provided memorable experiences, all within our budget. All transport, tours, and details went as planned. She even met us in person to hand deliver our ferry tickets in Athens and kept us updated on tour details along the way.
