Detailed Description

India and Nepal are like a giant patchwork with every piece showing their own history, culture, and cuisine. The diversity is both remarkable and misunderstood, as this is a land with so many languages, influences, ideas, expressions, traditions and ways of life. Gastronomy is one of the best ways to begin understanding the cultural differences, as every region has its own cuisine, and what most people know as Indian food is an amalgamation of ideas found across both India and Nepal. Through the food, you can discover the culture, and through the culture, you will get an authentic experience in these two exotic and ever-changing nations.

This is a tour for food lovers led by a handpicked collection of culinary guides. If you do not like to experiment, then this will not be the tour for you. Every day will bring a grand menu of new flavors and experiences taking you through Nepalese, Tibetan, Rajasthani, Peshwari, Mughal, Nizam and more. You will tour the backstreets and explore all the street food and the marketplaces, and use your senses to enjoy every part of your surroundings. There are local kitchens for cooking demonstrations and hands-on lessons, plus restaurants that range from the very local to the very old and regal. Along the way, you will discover astonishing sights including Mount Everest and the Himalayas, Kathmandu’s historic kingdoms, mosques and forts in Delhi, the Taj Mahal and a Mughal sandstone city, the best of Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Nepalese cuisine is mostly unknown and is an excellent introduction to regional staples and flavors. You will spend a couple of nights in Kathmandu and then relax in Nagarkot, looking out on the Himalayas while exploring Buddhist Tibetan cuisine. Your four stops in India will be chosen for both their cuisine and their local experiences. Delhi is diverse, shaped by many religions and cultures. Agra and Jaipur take you on a journey through Peshwari, Rajasthani and Mughal cuisines. Hyderabad’s food is heavily influenced by Islam and Persia, while Mumbai is an indulgent mix of colonial influences and evolving local flavors.

Review: Luxury Asia Vacation, India, Nepal, New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Varinasi, Lumbini, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Chitwan National Park

Awesome! Totally awesome! My wife and I just returned from a three week trip in India and Nepal planned by this Asia travel company. I was so impressed by the planning that I visited their office in New Delhi after the first couple days in New Delhi. Our agent was the person who did the work. Magnificant! We visited New Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Varanasi, Lumbini, Chitwan, Kathmandu and Baktapur.

1. Staff: always professional and well dressed; on time (if they say they will meet you at 8:00 AM then someone will be there at least by 8:00 AM); polite; accommodating to our needs and changes in the itinerary; knowledgable about where to visit (i.e. shopping!);

2. Transport: cars were comfortable in Delhi, Jaipur, Agra. Once you start to move into the interior of the country further the transport (hired cars) were not quite as nice. But, alas, we arrived safe and sound.

3. Hotels: Favorite hotels were the Trident in both Jaipur and Agra. Very nice. The rest of the hotels were fine with the exception of Hotel Everest in Kathmandu which is very very outdated. I stayed there 23 years ago on a trip and I am not sure they changed the carpet in the hallways since that time. The Kasari Resort in Chitwan was an oasis!

4. Guides: Very good guides in each city (except Varanasi).

Overall, I give this company terrific praise for planning and executing the trip. This was a peak experience for my wife and I. Thanks.

Travel Review: Tour of India & Nepal, Delhi, Agra, Kathmandu, Varanasi, Jaipur, Udaipur, Mumbai, Taj Mahal, Diwali Festival

My four rating reflects some disconnect between the agreed itinerary we set up with our travel company and what happened on the ground in India and Nepal. I'm not sure if that was the travel company problem or that of its partner and its subcontractors. That said, any issues we raised were addressed quickly and mostly to our complete satisfaction.

Overall, I'd say that travel in this part of the world is difficult. Traffic in the cities is impossible! Also, we found poor air quality most everywhere, but particularly in Delhi and to some extent in Agra. I had visited the Taj nearly 38 years earlier and a comparison of photos from that trip and our latest underline the air quality problem. (Nevertheless, the Taj is magnificent!) While the travel was difficult and sometimes pretty exhausting, the trip lived up well to our expectations. We wanted an adventure and we got it! I am particularly interested in Eastern philosophies and religions and it was a bonanza on that count. I learned much.  The temples and palaces were amazing, and I loved the vibrant colors everywhere, from saris to spices.  Our travel agency was good to work with in setting up our trip, patient and accommodating. We worked on the itinerary for a number of months. The guides, transfer agents, and drivers in both India and Nepal were generally terrific. Not once during the entire time was anyone other than perfectly punctual.  Some seemed exceptionally well informed -- including our guide through Mumbai's Dharavi slum, who had lived there himself for more than a dozen years. We nicknamed our guide in Mumbai "sadhu" -- both because of his appearance (rail thin, beard, long hair) but also the depth of his knowledge about Hinduism and his ability to communicate that in terms we could grasp. We spent six days travelling by car with our driver who we came to appreciate enormously as our friend and guardian. As for hotels, we loved the hotels in Katmandu and Udaipur. We were only slightly less impressed with the hotel in Varanasi. The hotels in Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, were quite good. The hotel in Pushkar was fine though located a little far from town. The hotel in Pokhara, Mumbai, and  in Bangalore were acceptable but not more.

Review: Mother-Daughter Trip to India & Nepal, Kathmandu, Jaipur, Varanasi, New Delhi, Ranthambore National Park

Fair to medium experience with this travel company. Had used a Zicasso referral for travel to Peru last year, but this year's trip to India and Nepal with this company was a disappointment.. Some of the guides had such thick accents that it was difficult to understand their presentations. Further, it seemed odd to my adult daughter and I that there were no women guides for the entire India, Nepal tour. Occasionally after significant air travel in India, the tour company did not even suggest a pause for a meal before moving on to another historic site.  I think this company could do a better job of explicating what will be seen next, what to wear on your feet if you're going to walk through a muddy area. This may sound insignificant, but it is the kind of incidental information that helps people enjoy their trip. The hotel we were assigned to when we first arrived in New Dehli had poor air quality in th lobby. Since New Dehli had poor air quality overall, it seemed odd that they kept the door open to the outside. The rooms were comfortable at the hotel but our guide or our travel company gave no suggestions of authentic inexpensive places to eat after out long trip. The day after we arrived we were taken to a restaurant that was probably the most inauthentic Indian eatery. The restarant was empty except for statues of armored knights. This tour group seens like a one size fits all. As non luxery tourist wanting to enjoy a rare mother, daughter trip to India, we were both disappointed.

My daughter was so worry about the quality of the hotel we were assigned while in Kathmandu, that she asked our agent if we could upgrade to the Hyatt. He said he couldn't did it as we had already paid for the assigned hotel. As it turns out, the hotel was fine, but we were not pleased with our Kathmandu guide. The hotel was kind enough to find a young Nepalese man to accompany us on a half day walk into the hills surrounding Kathmandu. Except for our guide in Jaipur, no one gave us good recommendations for restaurants. Our guide in Veranasi was good, as well as the guide in Jaipur. The drivers were all great and kind.

Review: Luxury Nepal &India Tour, Delhi, Agra, Jhansi, Jaipur, Taj Mahal, Hindu Complex, Little Tibet, Ganges Boat Tour

My husband and I had an extraordinary trip to Nepal and India, thanks to our travel agency. We told them where we wanted to go, and what we wanted to see, and they planned it perfectly for us.  The hotels they found for us were excellent.  The one in Varanasi was right on the Ganges.  We just had to step out of our room in the morning and watch the sun rise!  The one in Jaipur looked like something out of the Arabian Nights!  We even heard the Imam singing the evening and morning prayers out our window.

The guides were all very knowledgeable and accommodating.   I mentioned an interest in Hanuman and the guide told me there was a temple to him close by and took us there.  It wasn't on the itinerary, but he fit it in for us.  The drivers were amazing!  There were no traffic lights in most places, and they had to deal with cows, camels, horses, donkeys, sheep, goats, monkeys, pigs and dogs roaming in the roads, not to mention the traffic.  We took a train from Jhansi to Agra, and we were taken to the station and a representative waited with us, made sure we got on the right train, and that a porter would get us off in Agra.  We weren't expecting that level of service!  Same with airports.  A representative always waited until we were through security before leaving.

Luxury India & Nepal Trip Review: Kathmandu, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Taj Mahal, 9-Day Tour
The travel agency did a really great job getting us around Kathmandu, Nepal and India. We were taken care from being picked up at the airport in Nepal and dropped right at security in Delhi.Jay was great to work with as we had a 44 day trip planned including a cruise. He worked out a great tour with the 9 days we allotted him. The agency was very attentive to our needs. We had our driver and new found friend on the India portion of the trip which included the Golden Triangle visiting Agra, Jaipur, and Delhi. He drove us from city to city and worked with each of the tour guides in every local. He made sure we were happy and had plenty of cold water and comforts. He was always there as we came out of any of the many stops and sites. All the tour guides were very knowledgable and we learned many new things as we explored these different cultures.Overall, everyone was great and did a fantastic job! Overall, the value of this trip is an exceptional value.

Travel Review: Tour of India & Nepal, Kathmandu, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Delhi, Agra, Kingdom of Dreams, Ziplining, Elephant Ride

The trip was amazing. We went to Nepal and India (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur) and we had a great time. We would definitely use this company again for our South India trip. The travel company did a good job. We had nice drivers and tour guides. The hotel selection was beyond expectations and we could accomplish most part of our itinerary.
