Rome – Arrive in the Heart of the City and Explore the Historic Lanes

Rome is a city that overflows with icons, from structures of antiquity to palaces of the Renaissance. Statues adorn open squares and turn public spaces into works of art. Your flight will land at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, and your private transfer will meet you at the baggage claim and bring you into the bustle of Rome’s grandeur as it emanates from the historical city center. Your hotel will overlook the cobblestone tree-lined boulevard for incredible views.  Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby the next day ready to embark on a fascinating introductory tour of Rome through the winding lanes and hidden piazzas that turn the bustling city streets into village-like districts.

You will turn the corner off a small avenue to an open square crowned by the classic façade of the Pantheon. Corinthian capitals adorn the 16 granite columns that support the portico. The structure was reconstructed in the 1st-century AD and once inside the Pantheon, the dimensions of the magnificent dome become more prominent than they appear upon approach. The ceiling rises to a height of 142 feet above the marble floor and has inspired similar structures throughout history including the United States Capital building and St. Peter’s Basilica. The only light that enters the space pours through the hole at the center of the dome. When it rains, water dribbles in through the opening and drains in the large bronze grate at the center of the floor. Your guide will point out the tomb of Renaissance painter Raphael to provide the perfect connection between the artistry of the ancient architecture and the masterful techniques of the Italian Renaissance.

Review: Italy Family Vacation, Milan, Rome, Florence, Venice, Parma, Modena, San Gimignano, Lake Como, Dolomites Snowmobiling

Thanks for helping me organize my family (of 10 with diverse age from 15 to 63) trip to Italy, from Dec 17 to Dec 31. Whilst different member of my family have different expectation and requirement, I would like to comment you and your team on having planned an excellent trip that not only met each and everyone's interest and expectation but truly exceeded it.

Your planning have brought us to the lovely cities of Parma, Modena, Florence, Orvieto, Civita Di Bagnoregio, Naples, Rome, Venice, Cortina d'Amprezzo and back to our starting point Milan. Throughout the trip, we have a well balance itinerary that covered

- beautiful churches such as the Duomo in Milan, Rome, Florence,

- archeological site like Pompeii, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Pisa, Verona (learning more about romeo and Juliet)

- great local eating places (recommended by the guides you chose)

- lovely country side and unique sight in San Gimignano, Civita Di Bagnoregio, Orvieto, Lake Como,

- great gallery likes Uffizi, Academia

- Interesting activity such as Snow Mobile excursion in Cortina, Learning Cooking

- Shopping activities

With so much, yet your team immaculate planning never have us rushing from sight to sight, we were both able to enjoy and learn as much as we can of each sight and at times added more activities.

The team of guides you chose, have truly turn stone and history into exciting stories that the provided the group deeper understanding of the sights we visited and saw. Really like to thank each on of them like our guides in Florence, Pisa, San Gimignano, Orvieto and Civita Di Bagnoregio, Naples and Pompeii, Rome, Verona, Venice and Milan.

But most importantly, thank you for getting our driver, he truly ensure our comfort whilst driving steadily through jams on our way to Naple and snow storm on our way to Cortina d Amprezzo and also took very good care of us ensuring we know what to do where we have no guides and leaving us clear instruction when we needed help. He is truly a wonder.

I will definitely tell my friends heading to Italy about this company.... A wonderfully great experience.

Review: Italy Family Vacation, Rome, Tuscany, Florence, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Positano, Pompeii, Pisa, Vatican Papal Mass

Our family of five just got back from the most wonderful vacation in Tuscany and Rome.  Our agent crafted a set of amazing experiences for our family from the private tour guides to Florence, Pisa and Lucca; a private wine tasting lunch at the Capannelle Winery and vineyards in Chianti; tickets to the Papal mass at the Vatican; to a tour beneath the church of San Clemente to see the excavations of a byzantine and then a Roman street neighborhood; a day excursion to the Amalfi coast to visit Positano, Sorrento and Pompeii; and more! Our agent and the guides found excellent restaurants from a simple salumeria where the locals ate to some high end restaurants.  The hotels were right in the center of Florence – on the piazza della Repubblica - and Rome – between the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps.  Our agent was attentive to our plans and made excellent suggestions.  Everything went extremely smoothly.  All the guides drivers were very friendly, spoke English and were very knowledgeable about art, history and the local culture.  We saw so much every day because everything was so well planned.  Simply the best travel experience ever!

Travel Review: Memorable Vacation to Italy, Florence, Tuscany, Siena, Antinori Winery Tour, Rome, Vatican Tour
Giuliana of this Italy travel company guided us every step of the way and created one of our most memorable vacations. The most impressive thing at the outset was how quickly she responded to our initial inquiry. We had never been to Italy, had not done a great deal of research, and had only a general idea of what we wanted beyond the dates (mid-May) and the cities we wanted to visit (Florence and Rome). Within a day, Giuliana submitted a detailed proposed itinerary based on a recent client request similar to ours. The proposal included various options that provided a great starting point for further discussion. She asked many questions, including our hotel preferences (small boutique, high-rise, how many stars, etc.) and suggested a number of venues that would expose us to Italy’s remarkable history and culture. The result was a vacation specifically suited to our personal tastes and interests. We spent four days in Florence and three in Rome. In Florence, we stayed at the Hotel Lungarno on the Arno River, a lovely small hotel in the heart of the city within walking distance to everything of interest, including the Uffizi and Academy museums, and the famous Duomo. It rained two nights, but we didn’t have far to go for a great dinner. The hotel restaurant was superb. One of the highlights of the Florence leg of the trip was a day tour of the Tuscany wine region that included a stopover in the historic town of Siena. We had lunch at the Osteria di Passignano, a restaurant at the Antinori vineyards where we were treated to a four course lunch and wine tasting and a tour of the winery. Fabulous. In Rome, we stayed at the Hotel Saint George. Another small, well appointed, boutique hotel, centrally located near the Tiber River, it provided access to all the essential venues, including the Vatican, Coliseum, Spanish Steps, etc. As in Florence, everything was in walking distance, including fine dining restaurants, pizzerias, espresso bars, and gelateria—and lots of places to shop. The hotel was comfortable, attractive, with a friendly and efficient staff, but we would not recommend the hotel restaurant. It was nice enough (although too brightly lit) but was virtually empty the night we were there and the food was just O.K. That wasn’t Giuliana’s fault since the hotel restaurant was not on her recommended list. We were just tired (it was our first night) and thought we’d give it a try. The hotel concierge made up for it, however, by recommending two great nearby restaurants for the remaining two nights. Neither was on Guiliana’s list, but they were terrific. A word about the logistical aspects of the trip: we viewed this as critical to the success of a customized tour with multiple venues and connections. We couldn’t have been more pleased. On arriving at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, we were greeted by Aldo who drove us to the high-speed train to Florence. After sharing an espresso with us in the station café, he made sure we got on the right train, helped us with our bags, and took us to our seats. Similar service greeted us at every connection point during the trip. Our personal tour guides, Enza (Florence), Andrea (Tuscany), and Sylvia (Rome), were exceptionally knowledgeable, personable, and fluent in English. Giuliana telephoned us at several points during the trip to confirm that we had arrived at our destination, that the drivers were on time, and that the accommodations met our expectations. Very reassuring to know she was keeping such close tabs on things. In short, all elements of transportation and personal service were impeccable. Would we visit Italy again? Without doubt. The trip simply whetted our appetites. Would we use this company? We wouldn’t consider any other service. Next time, however, we’ll make more of an effort to visit the restaurants recommended by Giuliana.

Travel Review: Italy Tour, Positano, Capri, Venice, Florence, Wine Tour, Vespa Tour, Cooking Class, Boat Ride, Hiking, 11-Day Trip
From the first moment I contacted Zicasso, I was pleased and surprised!  I chose this travel company because our travel specialist listened carefully to our preferences and put together an outstanding draft of an itinerary!  We had several days where we were given a choice of activities, but the choices were easy to make based on our family.  Our travel specialist was wonderful to work with throughout the preparation for the trip, and we knew we could be in 24/7 contact with her or her company while we were on the trip, if we needed it.  I had many questions leading up to the trip, and our travel specialist patiently and thoroughly answered them all.  The trip itself was more than we could ever have dreamed!  Every detail was planned, drivers and guides were on time or early,  and the guides were very knowledgeable and interesting.  The hotels were lovely, often with views or amenities that we did not expect.  Every tour was worthwhile, educational, cultural, and interesting...and often just plain fun!  We felt as though we saw the best of Italy in the four cities on our tour, but we also took full advantage of our free time to explore so many streets and backways of each place, often stumbling upon a charming restaurant, cafe, shop, or city sight.  From the Basilicas, the canals, the train rides, hiking in the Chianti countryside and the winery tour, the market tour and cooking class, the vespa tour (so much fun!), the Vatican, fountains, piazzas, and finally to Positano, boat ride to Capri, the awe-inspiring views, and the luscious smell of lemon trees...there wasn't a moment we didn't enjoy this trip to the utmost!  We simply couldn't have asked for more, and our travel specialist made it all possible!

Travel Review: Italy Vacation, Tuscany, Florence, Venice, Chianti, San Gimiagnano, Siena, Cortona, Volterra, Assisi

~~OUR STORYBOOK VACATION CREATED BY ZICASSO

The most beautiful vacation was created for my husband and me by this agent, partner of Zicasso. At our initial contact with Zicasso, we advised them of our dream vacation which we wanted in the Tuscany and Umbria regions of Italy.  Very soon thereafter we received an e-mail from our agent wanting to know what we wanted to see and do on this vacation.  We provided a short list of our desires and she got to work. She contacted us by phone from Florence, Italy where she is located and spent 45 minutes getting to know us and detailing the itinerary with us.  That was only the beginning!Within a few days, she set up the itinerary which was perfect for us.  We began our journey by flying to Venice (a gondola ride was scheduled, of course).  A couple of days later, took a train to Florence (beautiful experience, because our reservations and tickets were already in hand).  A private driver met us at the platform and took us to our hotel).  A few more days and we were off by rented car (already paid for and ready to go thanks to our agent) and drove off to other parts of Tuscany (Radda in Chianti, Montalcino, Bevagna and the small villages along the way of Volterra, San Gimignano, Siena, Val d’Orcia area with the beautiful Abbey of Sant’ Antimo and listening to the spiritual and beautiful Gregorian chants during Mass, followed by our next stop in the Umbria region - Cortona, and staying in Bevagna.  Of course, we cannot forget our inspirational visit to Assisi with a private guide.  Everything was perfectly orchestrated by our agent.  The train, the car, the hotels, the private tour guides, the tickets, were all taken care of. She also provided her emergency number should there have been any problem at all.We are so happy we chose this wonderful travel agency and, we must say, most dedicated and pleasant agent, to handle this dream vacation for us.  One which we will remember forever!!Thank you – BRAVO!!!

Sincerely,

Veronica and Leonard B

Travel Review: Luxury Anniversary Italy Vacation, Rome, Florence, Siena, Chianti, Amalfi Coast, Capri Boat Tour, Cooking Class

My brothers and I asked our agent to plan a 50th Wedding Anniversary trip to Italy for our parents who had never been to Italy (or Europe, for that matter).  The trip was absolutely perfect.  Our parents are not big travelers, so we wanted them to be "hand held" a bit and our agent arranged just that.  They were picked up at the airport by a driver, so they did not have to worry about a taxi or finding their way to their hotel.  The trip was a 12 day trip starting out in Rome where they spent 4 days.  They stayed in a lovely boutique hotel (with a great location) with a fantastic roof top bar that was perfect setting for sharing a glass of processo while enjoying the views of this gorgeous city.  When they toured the Vatican, there were only 6 people in their party (including themselves).  They loved the small group size.  They were able to ask questions and hear everything the tour guide said.  We had a private driver take them for a day trip to the village where our father's dad came from.  Our agent was really able to personalize this trip for them.  From Rome, it was off to Florence where they stayed in another lovely hotel centrally located with amazing views of the city.  They also took a cooking class nearby and loved every minute of it.  They spent another day enjoying wine tasting in Siena and Chianti.  Every single excursion was well laid out and extremely well planned.  They ended their trip by spending 4 days on the Almafi coast taking another cooking class (just the two of them) and enjoying a private boat ride to the island of Capri.  It was definitely a trip of a lifetime and we were all pleased with the outcome.  I would highly recommend this agency to anyone who wants a trip tailored to meet all their needs and wants.
