Palermo for the Family
Palermo is a city of contrast, having absorbed the eclectic cultures of settlers and conquerors over thousands of years. The streets tell stories of legends cast in the remaining architecture and vibrant traditions of the locals. The family lands at Falcone-Borsellino Airport, where your private transfer is waiting to greet you. Your transfer escorts you into the heart of Palermo. Palm trees tower over historic buildings. The streets contain a golden hue against the backdrop of azure water lapping at the port.
The kids marvel at the Norman Palace, which acted as the seat of the Kings of Sicily. Today it is the Seat of the Sicilian Regional Assembly. The edifice was erected in the 9th century under the patronage of the Emir of Palermo. The Arab architecture is apparent in the foundation’s vaults. The interior houses the Cappella Palatina, a royal chapel that combines Arab, Norman, and Byzantine décor, including mosaics embellished with flecks of gold. The chapel is the perfect embodiment of the city and the families that have resided in Palermo for centuries. Your hotel is luxurious. The family easily settles into the wonderful accommodation at the center of the city.

Matteo provided exactly the trip we wanted, which was a 12-day tour of Sicily, starting in Palermo and ending in Catania. We spent 3 nights in most hotels and approved of his choices, which gave us different experiences of hotels in Sicily. In Taormina we stayed at Hotel Calipso, Hotel Kore in Agrigento, and A Casa Di Anna in Palermo. He provided us with a cellphone upon arrival and checked in from time to time. His English is excellent. We sometimes had problems with internet, and he would call the hotel to try to get a solution, then report back. We used two guides provided by him for specific tours, but basically did things by ourselves. I would turn to him for my next trip to Italy.

Our trip was extremely well organized and all the tour guides did a wonderful job. We loved the hotel in Syracuse and Taormina was stunning. We are sorry we did not take the tour of Mount Etna.
We enjoyed the cooking class, but have not received the info promised from the class.
Our driver was extremely professional and pleasant, and her driving skills were perfect.
We did not enjoy Palermo. I guess we should have done more research as I thought Palermo was going to be like Rome. We did not like the staff at the hotel in Palermo. They had a totally different attitude to those in the previous two cities.
The food was very good and breakfast at the first two hotels was amazing.
My husband played gold in all three cities and enjoyed it.
Thank you for all your assistance. We will definitely reach out to Zicasso in the future.

Our Zicasso travel specialist did a fantastic job planning our family vacation for five adults.
Each hotel was top-notch. At the villa in Taormina, the rooms were luxurious, with unbelievable views of the bay and Mount Etna from private verandas. The staff were gracious and the restaurant's breakfast buffet delicious. Lunch and dinner were top-notch. The hotel in Agrigento was modern and the grounds were exceptional. It was close to the Valley of the Temples, with amazing views of the ruins from each room and the beautiful infinity pool. The hotel in Palermo was old-fashioned luxury with up-to-date facilities and close to the old town.
Our tour guides and drivers were excellent.
My only regret is that we only had 10 days to explore Sicily as there was so much more to see!
Our agent did a yeoman's job helping us plan this trip.
