Rome – An Eternal City in Season

The thrills of Rome emanate from the ancient ruins, commemorating a lavish past and the remarkable spires of historic churches offering images of the Vatican’s influence in the city and across Italy. During the holiday season, Rome radiates cheer from the dangling lights crisscrossing above historic cobblestone streets and Christmas markets filling famous piazzas. Your flight lands at Rome Fiumicino Airport. Your private transfer greets you at baggage claim and escorts you to a luxurious hotel located in the heart of the historic city center.

The ancient frame of the Pantheon comes into view. The 16 thick pillars frame the entryway and support the edge of the massive dome, which reaches a height of 142 feet above the streets. Your guide meets you in the hotel lobby, eager to introduce you to the beauty of Rome glowing in the Christmas lights. You make your way to the Colosseum, the iconic image of the Roman Empire’s strength. Your guide helps contrast the rituals of the pagan religion of the city’s past with the deep connection of Rome’s Christian tradition.

The outer walls of the Colosseum reach four stories tall at a height of 157 feet. A canopy once spread across the seats casting shade over spectators. The archway frames the hall that soon swallows you, opening to the center of the remarkable structure. You can look down into the labyrinth, above which the wooden stage once stood. Gladiators would train, and wild animals would pace their cages, both waiting their turn to enter center stage.

Italy Travel Review: Family Christmas Vacation, Florence, Rome, Culture & History

Our family visited Italy this Christmas, and we were lucky to have chosen this company.

Our travel agent and consultant was an expert and was very patient in plan-making. For many times she discussed with me about our trip, and she spent time changing and improving our itinerary until we were satisfied about it. She arranged great choices of restaurants, hired drivers, booked excellent hotels, and chose the best tour guides for our trip. (The hotels were very nice and clean, and were located in ideal places where we could get to the tourist attractions easily.)

The tour guides our agent recommended were all very friendly and sophisticated. They knew well about the cities and places we were visiting. Our tour guides in Florence in Rome, were great. Our agent even arranged two Chinese-speaking Italian tour guides for us. Chinese tourists are strongly recommended to choose this travel company.

Our trip to Italy was the best trip we ever had, and if we are to go there again, we'd choose this company again.

Travel Review: Luxury Family Trip to Italy, Milan, Rome, Venice, Florence, Bologna, Burano Glass Factory Tour, Hot Air Balloon Ride

Absolutely superb holiday, amazing memories for our family - Thank you to our travel company & Zicasso.

Everything went as planned from the itinerary; from hotel bookings with your train tickets, & activity vouchers on arrival, guided tours, guides were professional, passionate about their areas & tours were just fantastic & not least the drivers that took us from A to B on sometimes lengthy commutes.

Activity options are worth really thinking about with regards to what it is exactly you wish to experience on a given holiday; the choice can be overwhelming & so for our family, whilst the main tourist destinations were obvious choices to visit, which we did whilst in all destinations Venice, Florence, Roma, Bologna & Milan yet we felt we chose a few additional tours that would suit our passions; Murano glass factory, cooking school in Florence, hot air balloon ride (over Chianti hills, just a spectacular experience with a very professional company), Modena & Parma area for the cheese, balsamic vinegar & ham tours that were extremely interesting & of course the tasting - very well orchestrated tours, excellent.  Milan was too short a visit but at the very least we had a few hours with a guide, as planned, who was wonderful & if in Milan the Scala Theatre is an absolute must see...!!

We would without question use Zicasso on our next trip as the knowledge & expertise delivers a stress-free, organised, professional service along with an agent a phone call away & regular communication to make sure the client is happy & all going to plan!

Grazie mille

Ciao

Francesca S.

Italy Vacation Review: One-Week Trip

It truly was a remarkable experience! We genuinely loved our trip, and each city was more fascinating than the next.

The sites in each place were incredible, as was having the tour guides and drivers arranged ahead by Zicasso’s travel company.

Italy was such a bonus for us. The tour guides were exceptional, with each tour being better than the one before. It was amazing to be able to see a part of history in a guided, faster way.

It seemed as though everyone in the world was in Florence for Easter, so we were especially happy that our activities were booked in advance!

Italy Tour Review: Venice, Florence, Rome, Naples, San Gimignano, Siena, Amalfi Coast, Mask & Cooking Classes, Winery Visit, Capri
The majority of the trip was wonderful but there were some issues. The highlights were 1.) In Venice the Gondola Ride with Champagne, the hotel which was a great location, the Mask Class was fun & well organized, the trip to the Islands, the Food Tour with our guide, the promptness of all the transfer guides; these were wonderful.2.) In Florence the Cooking Class was fun however nobody told the chefs most of our group were vegetarians. Luckily they rearranged the menu although we were late because we had to walk over a mile to get to the class which was posted at the wrong location so we paid to take a taxi back to where the class was being held. The tour to San Gimignano & Siena started off a bit strained because of the mile walk (remember 2 people were over 70 years old) to get to the tour office. The guide spoke so softly 2/3 of the bus could not hear her, even asking her to speak up numerous time. Toward the end of the bus ride there she gave us headphones. The trip to the Chianti Winery was fabulous. Maybe even a highpoint. We were dropped off at 11:00 at night in a warehouse looking area with no pick-up. We ask for a taxi. The first taxi kicked us out because he could only take 4 so we waited for a second one. The hotel in Florence was nice with a spa. We checked out & paid any expenses. Later the hotel texted my son in Hawaii regarding 990 euros for the rooms mistakenly asking him to clear it up. 3.) In Rome the Vatican tour was so crowded (we did not know it was Italy's birthday/holiday) glad we had fast tickets. Stopped for lunch & had lunch with the guide (we paid). He was very knowledgeable about the Forum, Circus Maximus & Coliseum. The hotel was nice.  4.) Naples was really nice. Loved our guide who drove us around the various towns & Amalfi coast. The following day we toured Pompeii with another guide. She was also wonderful. Glad we had fast tickets. We didn't know it was another holiday (Armistice Day) so entrance fees were free & very crowded. The boat ride to Capri was the best day. Loved the private boat with the Captain. The only hitch this day was we finished early the guide back at the boat launch told us the Taxi was paid for but the driver said she was wrong so again we paid for another Taxi.

Italy Vacation Review: Rome, Venice, Florence, Agone, 10-Day Trip

Our first trip to Italy was amazing! We worked with our Zicasso travel team and planned a perfect adventure in Rome, Venice, and Florence. We had such a wonderful time and made such fabulous memories.

Having dinner reservations made every evening at amazing restaurants was a highlight. We laughed that we would not have ever found some of them or branched out to try them, so it was perfect to have these set up! I think my favorites were in Venice. Each dinner was a different experience and it was fun to just relax and enjoy. The wines were amazing. Usually, we were overwhelmed with the wine list so asked for house wine or recommendations, and wow ... fantastic.

The cooking class and market tour were great; a fun way to end our trip. We plan to make the pasta this week when our kids are home for the holiday.

We got lost and explored, found ourselves caught in rain storms, and appreciated many churches.

Another highlight was stumbling upon an intimate Vivaldi concert in the chapel at Sant'Agnese in Agone by Piazza Navona. It was beautiful and we will remember it forever.

The hotels were perfect. They were very European and quiet, so we could rest up for the next big day. Breakfast was excellent and the coffee was so good.

We walked a million miles, but really liked our Rome golf cart tour (and guide). We saw so much and asked many questions. We were so happy to not be driving in Italy!

Our gondola serenade was also memorable. I shared a video on Instagram and it was enjoyed by many.

We will return to amazing, beautiful Italy as there are many places we want to see and explore, and wines we still need to drink!
