Palermo – Arrive in Palermo with a Charming Walking Tour

Palermo is Sicily’s largest city, and it has a charm and intrigue that rises from a rich history thanks to a unique culture at the crossroads of the Mediterranean Sea. Your private transfer will greet you at Falcon Borsellino Airport and escort you to your gorgeous hotel in the heart of the bustling city. You will have time to freshen up and settle into the comforts of your luxury accommodations before meeting your guide in the lobby to begin your private walking tour. Palermo is a city of romance that is accentuated by the flamboyant architecture that combines Norman, Arab, and Baroque designs with Gothic palaces that are framed by soaring palm trees. Stucco decorations adorn the chapels and the vintage stores that are scattered around the distinct neighborhoods with antiques that highlight the faded aristocracies from around the island.

Your guide will lead you deep into the welcoming culture of the city that embraces the refreshing aromas of orange citrus, freshly brewed espresso, and delicious arancini. You will discover the grandeur of the cathedral and the marvels of the Normal Palace before reaching the sensational Cappella Palatina. The Normal chapel was consecrated in the 12th century and features a collection of remarkable mosaics with a harmonious ambiance that combines a Latinate floorplan with a Byzantine dome and Arabic stalactite ceiling. You will find the alluring ambiance of the interior filled with mystical darkness pierced by sporadic glints of decorative gold catching the light.

Italy Travel Review: Palermo, Trapani, Erice, Mazara del Vallo, Marsala, Taormina, Zingaro Reserve, Historic Sites, Wine Tasting
The trip planning and organization done by the travel agency were amazing. They helped us put together an itinerary to visit most of Sicily starting in the west (Palermo) and making our way around the island ending up in Taormina. We chose to have drivers assist us getting around as train service between small towns is not great and we have driven there before. We managed to see almost all of the sites we were interested in but were in most hotels at least 2 nights and some 3 or 4. It was a somewhat aggressive agenda but with the drivers it was much less tiring. We had time for the outdoors, saw some spectacular Phoenician, Greek and Roman ruins and stayed in some very unique hotels. The tours and events they organized were also very well done. We had professional guides in all of the archeological sites and in general very informative and friendly guides and drivers. We also had downtime which was much appreciated. The great thing about working with them is you could design your own itinerary with their help and make it as active or restful as you want. Our trip started in Palermo and we made our way to the Zingaro Reserve - we were able to see Trapani, Erice, Mazara del Vallo and Marsala as well as the Phoenician settlement of Mozia. We saw the archeological parks of Selinunte, Valley of the Temples, Villa Casale and Siracusa. We ended our trip in Taormina which was perfect.Along the way we had farm lunches, olive grove visits and tours, wine tastings and several other interesting excursions.Veronica and the customer service team were always there for us if needed.

Southern Italy Luxury Vacation Review: Hilltop Town of Taormina, Greek Ruins of Agrigento, Marsala Wine Tasting, History & Food
We had a really wonderful 9 day trip to Sicily. I had a general idea of what I wanted to see, but needed guidance as to the overall flow of the trip, what we can see (and should) in 9 days and recommendations for hotels etc. The trip planner of this travel team made it all happen and was very easy to work with. He listened to what I wanted to see (what was important to us, what we enjoy ....) and made recommendations when asked for his opinions. We decided to drive ourselves, but have guides in most of the places that we visited.Given our detailed and full schedule, our trip went very smoothly - Palermo, Cefalu, Monreale, Segesta, Erice, wine tasting in Marsala, Agrigento, Villa Roma in Piazza Armerina, Caltigirone, Ortigia, Siracusa, Noto (more wine tasting), Ragusa, Mt. Etna and Taormina. Our travel agent's advice and recommendations were excellent and everything was well organized. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly (and always on time). This travel team is an excellent agency, with an emphasis on service. After we arrived in Sicily, Giulio and his colleagues called us to see if we needed anything or were having any problems. They had given us a SIM card to make the communication easier. It was very helpful to have someone who was able to help us IF we needed assistance. For example, when we wondered if it would be possible to have a short walk on Mt. Etna (since the weather was clear), they quickly sent us the directions and information as to where we should go.

I highly recommend this travel team and would use this agency for future trips to Italy.

Italy Travel Review: Custom Italy Vacation, Sicily, Palermo, Monreale, Gambino winery

We recently returned from a 7 day trip to Sicily planned by two travel companies. Everything was planned perfectly with our wonderful driver, Vincent, and excellent guides as we went along.  The hotel in Taormina, Hotel Panoramic was excellent and had a great view.  Also, the Hotel Felice in Palermo located in the historic district was small, modern and had the best restaurant upstairs on the roof overlooking the city.  We would give a five star report to both these agencies for wonderful service.  I would rate both travel companies with five stars.

Travel Review: Italy Tour, Sicily, Palermo, Agrigento, Catania, Ragusa, Syracuse, Modica, Chocolate Making, Olive Oil Factory
Trip was excellent.  All the arrangements made by the travel company worked flawlessly.  Although we have been traveling for more than 50 years this was the first time we have used a travel agency to both plan and arrange an overseas trip.  We were impressed with the agency because they listened to what we wanted to do and see.  There were discussions and a few iterations before the final itinerary. Take time and speak with them.  Furthermore they were able to accommodate our idiosyncrasies. We spent 10 nights in Sicily in Palermo, Agrigento, Ragusa Ibla, Siracusa and Catania.  All the hotels and B&B's were excellent and centrally located as we desired,  The drivers and guided tours were staffed with knowledgeable, professional and efficient people.  The agency kept in contact with us throughout the trip although this was not easy since we did have a mobile phone.  There were no problems at all.  Superb suggestions from the travel company that we had not thought about such as a chocolate making class in Modica, a market crawl/cooking class/lunch in Siracusa as well as a visit to a top quality olive oil production estate were some of the highlights of our trip.  The archeological visits also were magnificent. The agency even arranged for our attendance at a Bellini opera in the Teatro Bellini in Catania.  The overall trip was wonderful mostly due to the great travel arrangements.  It did not hurt that for the 10 day trip duration there was no rain, only a few rare clouds and moderate temperatures. We would not hesitate to work with this travel company again.

Italy Trip Review: Vietri sul Mare, Palermo, Taormina, Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, Ravello, Capri, Organic Farm Visit, Mt Etna Tour

We had a fantastic trip that exceeded our expectations. We had an excellent trip planned with Marilisa and she was open to our ideas and to our requested changes and implemented them quickly and got back to us with the confirmation that it was done. The travel arrangements at the airports and daily for tours and excursions were always on time and with great drivers who were helpful and had fun conversations about where we were going and in-depth history. Their skills in driving the vans along the Amalfi coast was amazing and we were all so glad that we were in the hands of expert drivers on these extremely tight and curvy congested roads. Each tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the area we went to. More commentary on the tour guides below. The hotels that were provided were great for the two groups. Each one had a good reason why they chose them. In Naples it was right in the center of the old town beaming with life and restaurants. The hotel had a fantastic breakfast room and a great bar service in the afternoon. The rooms were ok, nothing special. The hotel in Vietri sul Mare was a gem. Great location, great views of the ocean, friendly and helpful staff and had some great restaurants nearby. The hotel in Palermo was also right in the middle of the city center with great restaurants in walking distance, but the rooms were just ok, and the breakfast area was very tight to move around. The Resort in Taormina was fantastic also. Same owner as the hotel in Vietri sul Mare. Great location on the beach, easy to get to downtown Taormina. A great bar cafe on the beach and the breakfast area was overlooking the beach. A great place to spend our two free days at the end of the trip. The hotel in Naples was also beautiful for our last night, but we didn't get to use it much as it was the last night before flying home. Our only real disappointment was the first transportation of the trip from Naples airport to the hotel. The driver seemed to be in a hurry when getting us to the hotel. He didn't know the area very well and said he couldn't get any closer to the hotel due to the small roads. He pointed up the road and said it should be up there. We all had two bags to drag around while searching for the hotel. Luckily, we had our phones to use. He wasn't even on the right street, and we had to walk around to find it. The next morning our driver was right outside the hotel, so there was no problem with the road.
