Noto – Introductory Tour of the Baroque City

The city of Noto glints and glistens along the main street of Corso Vittorio Emanuele as the elegant palaces and churches from the 17th century retain their Baroque charms. In the evening, the soft sunlight spreads over the facades of the city turning the red-gold colors into an ethereal glow. Your private transfer will greet you at Catania-Fontanarossa Airport upon your arrival in Sicily and escort you to your gorgeous accommodations at the heart of Noto. Before your guide meets you in the hotel lobby, the city will capture you from its perch on the plateau overlooking the Asinaro valley. The scent of citrus, olive, and almond trees carries in the breeze stemming from the orchards bordering the edges of town.

The unique stone used for crafting the buildings have provided Noto with a distinctive ambiance that is accentuated by balconies with wrought iron railings, decorative cherubs, and a quintessential golden glint. You will step out into the city with your private guide for an introductory tour that will unveil the many splendors of Noto that range from the beautiful Piazza Immacolata to the intoxicating aromas of local cuisine. You will soon reach San Nicolò Cathedral, which is known for its Baroque grandeur reflected in the peach hue of the crowning dome. The architectural feature also acts as the focal point of the city’s skyline when seen from the sophisticated balconies and terraces acting as a reminder of the original dome that collapsed in 1996.

We found this travel company wonderful.

All the cities were great

Great Restaurants. Amazing locations and tours.

Excellent hotels. Our favorites Piccolo Giardino in Taormina, Acqua dell'Arte in Catania, and Casato Licitra in Ragusa. Great service.

Loved our days on the beaches.

They were very helpful for the complete trip.

Luxury Italy Travel Review: Sicily, Palermo, Catania, Ortigia, Taormina, Mount Etna

Matteo provided exactly the trip we wanted, which was a 12-day tour of Sicily, starting in Palermo and ending in Catania. We spent 3 nights in most hotels and approved of his choices, which gave us different experiences of hotels in Sicily. In Taormina we stayed at Hotel Calipso, Hotel Kore in Agrigento, and A Casa Di Anna in Palermo. He provided us with a cellphone upon arrival and checked in from time to time. His English is excellent. We sometimes had problems with internet, and he would call the hotel to try to get a solution, then report back. We used two guides provided by him for specific tours, but basically did things by ourselves. I would turn to him for my next trip to Italy.

Review: Sicily 2-Week Tour, Palermo, Agrigento, Siracusa, Taormina, Catania, Greek Temples, Sailing Tour, Vineyards
First & foremost, a big thank you to everyone that helped make this happen for us. Please know that the guides you recommended for us exceeded our expectations. Marilu was amazing to say the least, Claudio was cool, Frederica was an absolute doll, Salvatore was a hoot and Antonio was terrific. Please consider keeping them all on board. The hotel in Palermo was wonderful and was located perfectly. The staff was attentive and made some great restaurant recommendations. We had a lot of fun in Palermo. We wish the residents took better care of its wonderful city as the graffiti and garbage were somewhat disturbing. Thank you for not having us drive in Palermo. Our driver Paolo (Airport and to Agrigento) was a super nice young man with a magnetic personality. The tour of the Greek Temples was engaging and Claudio's format of making it a classroom session was wonderful. The town itself is somewhat sleepy but adorable and we enjoyed the food and vino. The Hotel was just okay as there was a lot of wasted space and the decor was very dated including the shower. Please consider another Hotel, perhaps closer to the center of town. The drive from Agrigento to Siracusa was mesmerizing as the countryside was gorgeous with the exception of the garbage at every rest stop. Siracusa was fantastic with something around every corner. We always found something to see and something to do in Ortiga. Two criticism's regarding Siracusa. 1. The Hotel was marginal at best, albeit the location was good. The breakfast was just okay as the wait staff was short and curt. The bed (if you can call it that) was horrible. Hard to understand why a "Couple" would be given two crappy little double beds to push together. The front desk was very nice and very helpful. 2. If you are going to advertise a luxury cruise to explore hidden coves and swim in isolated areas, please make sure the captain has a boat that is facilitated to do so. Please consider "stepping up" your game regarding this activity. Our captain was excellent with his skillset, but he did not have a dingy with a motor so we could not enjoy going to any public beach and he did not have life jackets on board and the seating was relatively uncomfortable. Frederica was absolutely wonderful with her amazing lunch and vino. We did have a great day overall but it did not live up to the adventurous aspect that we had anticipated. Please consider other vessels for this part of the itinerary.     Taormina was by far the best part of trip. No negatives here. We absolutely fell in love with Taormina and its surrounding towns (Castelmola and LetoJanni). Amazing Hotel...., etc.  Love, Love, Love Taormina!!! Catania was rich in history and food.  Overall, due to its lack of cleanliness, it wasn't our cup of tea. However, we took the liberty of spending an afternoon at the Gambino Vineyards and that was amazing.

Italy Luxury Trip Review: Agrigento, Taormina, Marsala, Cooking Class, Wine Tasting, One-Week Tour
Except for a couple of snafus at the airport in Palermo and the wrong bed set-up in Palermo at the beginning of our trip, everything was excellent. We especially enjoyed our hotels in Agrigento and Taormina.

Italy Tour Review: Catania, Taormina, Florence, Agrigento, 12-Night Vacation

Everything was arranged to our specifications. The drivers were excellent and the tour guides were very knowledgeable. We liked all the hotels.

We had two incidents that we must report. My flights were late arriving in Catania but the agency did not reply to me either by phone or email as to how I could get transport to Taormina. Luckily my friend who had arrived on time was able to arrange for a driver to get me.

She had a problem leaving Florence. The 4am pickup did not arrive and she had to take a taxi to the airport.

But all in all our trip was great!
