Southern Italy Luxury Vacation Review: Hilltop Town of Taormina, Greek Ruins of Agrigento, Marsala Wine Tasting, History & Food
We had a really wonderful 9 day trip to Sicily. I had a general idea of what I wanted to see, but needed guidance as to the overall flow of the trip, what we can see (and should) in 9 days and recommendations for hotels etc. The trip planner of this travel team made it all happen and was very easy to work with. He listened to what I wanted to see (what was important to us, what we enjoy ....) and made recommendations when asked for his opinions. We decided to drive ourselves, but have guides in most of the places that we visited.Given our detailed and full schedule, our trip went very smoothly - Palermo, Cefalu, Monreale, Segesta, Erice, wine tasting in Marsala, Agrigento, Villa Roma in Piazza Armerina, Caltigirone, Ortigia, Siracusa, Noto (more wine tasting), Ragusa, Mt. Etna and Taormina. Our travel agent's advice and recommendations were excellent and everything was well organized. Our guides were extremely knowledgeable and friendly (and always on time). This travel team is an excellent agency, with an emphasis on service. After we arrived in Sicily, Giulio and his colleagues called us to see if we needed anything or were having any problems. They had given us a SIM card to make the communication easier. It was very helpful to have someone who was able to help us IF we needed assistance. For example, when we wondered if it would be possible to have a short walk on Mt. Etna (since the weather was clear), they quickly sent us the directions and information as to where we should go.

I highly recommend this travel team and would use this agency for future trips to Italy.

Travel Review: Italy Tour, Sicily, Palermo, Agrigento, Catania, Ragusa, Syracuse, Modica, Chocolate Making, Olive Oil Factory
Trip was excellent.  All the arrangements made by the travel company worked flawlessly.  Although we have been traveling for more than 50 years this was the first time we have used a travel agency to both plan and arrange an overseas trip.  We were impressed with the agency because they listened to what we wanted to do and see.  There were discussions and a few iterations before the final itinerary. Take time and speak with them.  Furthermore they were able to accommodate our idiosyncrasies. We spent 10 nights in Sicily in Palermo, Agrigento, Ragusa Ibla, Siracusa and Catania.  All the hotels and B&B's were excellent and centrally located as we desired,  The drivers and guided tours were staffed with knowledgeable, professional and efficient people.  The agency kept in contact with us throughout the trip although this was not easy since we did have a mobile phone.  There were no problems at all.  Superb suggestions from the travel company that we had not thought about such as a chocolate making class in Modica, a market crawl/cooking class/lunch in Siracusa as well as a visit to a top quality olive oil production estate were some of the highlights of our trip.  The archeological visits also were magnificent. The agency even arranged for our attendance at a Bellini opera in the Teatro Bellini in Catania.  The overall trip was wonderful mostly due to the great travel arrangements.  It did not hurt that for the 10 day trip duration there was no rain, only a few rare clouds and moderate temperatures. We would not hesitate to work with this travel company again.

Italy Family Vacation Review: Taormina, Roccalumera, Sant'Alessio Siculo, Savoca, Siracusa, Modica, Ispica, Aeolian Islands

My wife and kids were joined by my sister, my dad and his wife on a 10-day trip to Sicily.

We engaged this travel company to put the trip together for us. I provided the information about which villages we were interested in focusing on because of an ancestral tie. They took that information and weaved in activities that complimented our desired locations and supplemented the agenda with villages and cities with which we didn’t have ancestral ties, but which offered opportunities for fun and adventure.

We started out in Taormina for three nights. While in the area we did quick driving tours of Letojanni and Roccalumera. We spent a little more time in Sant'Alessio Siculo to visit our family church in which my great grandfather Stefano had a stone erected at the passing of his father Domenico in 1948. We traveled to Savoca to visit locations that were in the Godfather movies. Then we drove up to Forza d'Agrò another family ancestral hub and did a walking tour of the town visiting more set locations for the Godfather movies but also parts of our town inhabited by our ancestors. We spent a fair amount of time in the town of Taormina visiting the central city area and other locations like the Greek Amphitheater. Everywhere we went was a quick 10-minute walk from our hotel. We stayed at a Hotel which was an excellent base of operations.

Our last day in the area we visited Mt. Etna. Our very knowledgeable guide put us through the paces visiting some of the minor smaller craters. It’s a location that truly has to be seen to be appreciated. Pictures just do not do it justice. We also toured a tunnel caused by lava flow that had been in existence since at least 1776.

For the next night, we moved on to Sant'Angelo di Brolo and visited parts of the village tied to our ancestors. Our driver did a create job of recon on the area so he could focus us on the areas that held the most historical significance to us. He also helped us with our dialogue with the commune’s municipal records office. His efforts helped us obtain printouts that provided us invaluable information for our family tree.

While in the area we also visited Gioiosa Marea which is a genuinely nice village on the northwest coast of Messina. From there we had a magnificent view of the Aeolian Islands.

We finished our stay with five nights in Siracusa. Siracusa is a good-sized city and we stayed on the “Island” of Ortigia where there were tons of sights to see and things to do. We ventured out of town to visit a number of locations. We visited the Archaeological Park the highlight of which was a Greek Amphitheater that was even bigger than the one in Taormina. We visited a farm that produces high quality Olive, Jams, Honey and Citrus. We participated in a cooking class with a Chef. We ventured out of the area for a tour of Ragusa lead by another guide who shared her wealth of knowledge about the area with us. Along the way we got to see Modica and Ispica. Of course we also visited a winery to learn about the process of making wine in Sicily (and to drink a little of the local Sicilian output too).

The mountain landscape was breathtaking in all the areas we visited. Each time we entered a share turn we were glad our driver was still with us taking great care to make the drive as smooth as possible.

Unfortunately, the visit had to end, and we had to travel back to reality.

The whole family had a wonderful time, and everyone can’t wait to get back.

Our travel company exceeded our very high expectations!

Sicily Vacation Review: Agrigento, Taormina, Wine Tour, 2-Week Trip
Rose was fantastic to deal with!! Her knowledge, patience, willingness to tweak and retweak, and her kindness reflected so positively in the travel company. We eagerly looked forward to our Sicily adventure!Unfortunately, the travel company contacts in Sicily left a lot to be desired! Our private driver never arrived upon our arrival and this understandably left us questioning whether we could feel secure with so many other drivers organized throughout the trip. Our concerns were justified, the majority of our drivers spoke no English, we had one driver in Agrigento who I think must have been punch-hitting because he arrived late and in a foul, angry mood so a short ride to the temples was most unpleasant! We received a call the day before departure from Agrigento alerting us to a time change in pickup, we immediately changed our morning workouts to accommodate the change and then sat there waiting for early pick up and the driver arrived at 10am, the original time! He had never been notified of the change! COMMUNICATION  Problems for sure!!The most egregious issue was when we took a 25Euro taxi ride to Ortygia to join our arranged tour group to Noto, Ragusa, Modica plus wine tour and we were informed that this tour had been canceled! I will not detail what I had to go through in broken Italian to get help sorting out something out! My husband was in disbelief!moreover on numerous occasions when we tried to reach the helpline no one answered! In Taormina, we were given a small cramped room and when I kindly explained that this was a birthday trip for me and that I had hoped that the travel company would have requested a classic room with some view, I was told that had not occurred but they would attempt to do their best and they did, fortunately!

Review: Luxury Italy Tour, Rome, Sicily, Palermo, Agrigento, Siracusa, Taormina, Vatican, Private Art & Archaeological Tours

This Italy travel company planned and executed an excellent trip to Sicily and Rome for our party.  Our small group was primarily interested in art and archaeology and this agency did a very fine job in locating great guides and pairing them with art historians and archaeologists so that we received the in-depth information that we hoped to receive.  It was a fantastic immersion into many centuries of history and culture.

The agency also chose amazing accommodations for us. It was certainly helpful for traveling with a group. Highly recommend staying at Grande Albergo Alfeo in Siracusa and Corte dei Greci in Agrigento. These places were great hotels to stay at,

The restaurants in the cities were excellent as well. Loved the Sicilian cuisine.
