Tokyo Tour to Remember: Sushi to Go-Carts

This morning, you will meet your guide for an introductory tour of Japan’s capital and epicenter. This tour will flexible and can be tailored to your interests. You may wish to start with a visit to the Meiji Shrine, a Shinto shrine that was dedicated to the former Emperor’s wife. It is also a place of serene beauty. You can also discover the dynamic neighborhoods of Akihabara or Rappongi. For a panoramic view of Tokyo, you can take the elevator to the top floor of the Toyko Skytree.

The commercial production of whiskey in Japan began during the Meiji era, and two major distilleries emerged: Nikka and Suntory. Today, you will venture to Suntory’s Hakushu Distillery, which is approximately two hours outside of Tokyo. At the distillery, you will learn about the process of making whiskey and its history. You will also have the opportunity to taste some of these incredible whiskeys. Afterward, you will be transferred back to Tokyo, where you will have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure.

This morning, you can enjoy some time at your leisure to explore Tokyo independently. From cat cafes to spectacular museums, such as the National Art Center and the Yayoi Kusama Museum, every moment in Tokyo will be electrifying. You may wish to take a stroll and rest this morning because, in the afternoon, you will meet your guide at Harajuku station for a walking tour. This tour will be followed by a guided foray into Tokyo’s nightlife. Kabukicho and Golden Gai can be debaucherous playgrounds full of lights and sound and are also home to some of Tokyo’s best secret eating and drinking establishments.

You will wake up early this morning for a visit to the Tsukiji Fish Market, the world’s largest wholesale fish market. Chefs from restaurants around the city have come here to get the freshest seafood since 1935. During your time at the market, you will learn about the process of sourcing the food and enjoy some sushi samples. In the afternoon, you will get to experience a bit of hyper-modern Tokyo with a visit to a Virtual Reality room.

After breakfast this morning, you will meet your guide and venture to the teamLab Borderless Museum for an unforgettable visit. Conceived as a museum without a map, the museum is a fully immersive experience that straddles art, science, technology, and more. Each room communicates, and you may find yourself getting lost in the sounds and lights. Afterward, a reservation will be made for you to indulge in a fabulous tonkatsu meal.

From cars to ferries to the extensive subway system, Tokyo seems to have pretty much every form of transportation mastered. Today, you will see the city by way of an unorthodox method of transportation: Go-carts. You will be able to zip around the city to view Tokyo’s streets from a new vantage point, fulfilling your Mario Kart fantasies in real life. In the evening, a reservation will be made for you at one of Tokyo’s many Michelin-starred restaurants as a fond farewell to the magnificent city.

After having some time to enjoy your final morning in Japan, you can spend your last few moments however you see fit. Shortly after breakfast, however, a private transfer will pick you up and transfer you to the airport for your international departure.
