Detailed Description

In a country of wilderness, there is always somewhere new to explore. That will be your mantra for these two weeks in New Zealand. You will go rock climbing on sacred Maori land after the landowners have provided you with an official welcome. There will be a jet boat ride to a wilderness picnic on private land, a helicopter tour through remote Fiordland, hiking, rafting, cruising, canyoning, and adventures in the water. Led by some of the country’s best outdoor guides, this is an exclusive tour that focuses on handcrafted activities that simply are not possible anywhere else. It is not about the things that you can do, but the feeling of adventure in places that other people do not have the luxury of seeing.

Much of the tour involves helicopters. There are no roads to the places that you will be going, nor do you have time to visit them on foot. Every flight is a scenic one, offering stunning views into volcanoes, across fjords, over mountain chains, and along the coast. Jet boats are another means of travel and will lead you down rivers to private tracts of forests and valleys. Then, for your final three days, you will be cruising in a chartered yacht, which is the finest way to explore the tropical waters of the Hauraki Gulf. Helicopter transfers allow you to easily combine the four main destinations, which are Glenorchy and Abel Tasman on the South Island and Taupo and the Hauraki Gulf in the North.

After flying to Queenstown, you will spend your first four nights in Glenorchy, which is on the quieter side of Lake Wakatipu. You will ease into the outdoors with a jet boat picnic on day two before exploring remote Fiordland on day three with a helicopter tour. Focusing on the wild and inaccessible landscapes that are north of Milford Sound, your tour can include lakes, rainforest, glaciers, beaches, high-country wilderness and an exceptional seafood barbecue. On day four, you will have the choice of taking a Heli-Hike or going heli-skiing before flying into Abel Tasman on day five. Here, you can explore the coast on a private charter, go canyoning in an ancient rainforest, and fly to a remote experience in the Kahurangi Ranges.

Flying into Taupo will be a real highlight. The helicopter will soar above active volcanoes before touching down at your lakeside retreat. Here, there is wilderness, white-water rafting, and a day of rock climbing in private Maori land. As with many of the other days, it is only through connected local guides that you are afforded access to some of these places. This is not just New Zealand untouched; it is the chance to see parts of the country that although explored by some, have not been documented. You will culminate these two weeks with three days on a private yacht, where you can plot a route that is based on your interests and mood. There can be spearfishing, uninhabited beaches, snorkeling, diving, and a helicopter ride to Cape Reinga and the country’s northernmost point.

Travel Review: Vacation in New Zealand & Fiji, Nelson, Te Anau National Park, Abel Tasman, Doubtful & Milford Sound, Pahia

This travel agent and the travel company team were out of this world! They crafted an amazing four-week adventure for us in New Zealand and Fiji. We started in Te Anau, NZ, where we focused on hiking and boating to both the Milford and Doubtful Sounds. We flew from Te Anau to the Nelson area at the top of the south island and fell in love with Mapua, located just 30 minutes from Nelson. We explored the Abel Tasman area extensively there. Next, we traveled (by plane again) to Russell, just across the way from Pahia and Kerikeri. It was a dream of a place, and we continued to hike, sail, and eat amazing food and drink delicious wines. Our accommodations couldn't have been better! Our travel company thought of everything! Last stop was Fiji - this their idea - make a stop in a super relaxing place on the way home back to Texas. The resort was out of a picture book - we had an extraordinary villa with our own plunge pool - the service, food, and staff were beyond amazing. We highly recommend this company - even when we had a travel snag, our agent answered his cell straight away and was on call to help us get to a solution. Can't say enough good things about him and his team!

Luxury New Zealand Tour Review: Taupo, Rotorua, Tongariro National Park, Abel Tasman Park, Mt. Cook, Tasman Glacier, Lake Wanaka

My husband and I went on a wonderful trip to New Zealand visiting both North and South Island. The trip was originally planned for 2021 but had to be postponed until this year. I prefer working with an agent, and Lindsay from our travel agency was extremely responsive, offering helpful options and suggestions. Even though the time we spent on the North Island was right after the torrential rains, we modified the itinerary to spend four days in the Taupo area and two days in Rotorua.

We hiked in the Tongariro National Park and part of the Great Lake Pathway, sailed to view the Maori Rock Carvings, and visited Orakei Korako geothermal pools and Huka Falls in the Lake Taupo area. In Rotorua, we relaxed in the mineral pools of the spa and enjoyed the indigenous Maori experience at Te Puia.

The next 12 days were spent on the South Island where we had sunny and warm weather! One of our favorite places was Abel Tasman Park where we went kayaking and hiked the beautiful Coast Trek. We continued our adventures with a memorable heli-hiking experience on the Tasman Glacier in the Mt. Cook region, followed by visiting the unique blue penguins and Royal Albatrosses on the Otago Peninsula and enjoyed a hike and cruise on the famous Milford Sound in Fiordland National Park.

We ended our journey with three days in the Lake Wanaka area where we kayaked, hiked, and visited some of the region's famous wineries.

New Zealand Travel Review: Christchurch, Picton, Nelson, Marlborough District, Abel Tasman Park, Hiking, Cruise, Scenery

Our trip to the South Island of NZ was well planned. We spent a week in the Marlborough area. We enjoyed a lovely train ride from Christchurch to Picton where we spent three nights and went on two mail boat cruises in two different sounds. Our accommodations in Picton were exactly what we wanted: a small, well-appointed hotel with a lovely restaurant. Our transition from the train to the car rental went smoothly.

Next up was our three-day hike in Abel Tasman Park. We loved the hike and the other tourists in our group. I highly recommend the lodging; the food was lovely. My only recommendation is to let clients know this is not an easy hike as there are ups and downs. We were the oldest members of our group, most in their 60s. We did fine, but the hike was more challenging than my husband anticipated. Nevertheless, we did enjoy the scenery, lodging, food, and guides.

Our favorite two nights were at the retreat in Nelson. Absolutely fabulous. We were tired and worn out from hiking, so two days at the retreat were a treat. Great food, surroundings (including a pool and hot tub). The owner even did our laundry which was a bonus! She even made dinner reservations for us and arranged transportation so we didn’t have to drive. Our last night at a hot springs place was our least favorite. The food was fine, but the hot springs were too rocky for me to go in. Rooms were nice, and there was a steam room and massages. I think I was just ready to go back to Christchurch. It was very popular and there were a lot of people.

Franck arranged a wonderful trip for us, and I would highly recommend this travel company.

New Zealand Luxury Trip Review: Rotorua, Queenstown, Hobbiton, Wellington, Glenorchy, Milford Sound, Māori Culture, Museum

We have been fortunate and blessed to travel the world and have used Zicasso to point us in the right direction. This travel company is among our top three; no, make that number one; the best travel agency we have worked with on all accounts.

Our agent and her team hit a home run. From the drivers and local guides to the food choices, experiences, lodging, and delightful and professional expertise shown to us, all of our expectations were exceeded. Truly, they care about making a traveler feel so very welcome, and the sheer beauty of New Zealand was only surpassed by the warm, kind, joyful, and loving people.

There were so many instances in which we had to pinch ourselves to make certain the magical journey was real. From the most delightful, delicious, and charming dinner with a magnificent Māori family, to the helicopter ride to Mount Owen, the boat trip to Abel Tasman, our Milford Sound boat ride, the Weta Studios, the magnificent lodging in Rotorua, and personally meeting our agent during our stay in Nelson, our two-week journey kept building more and more cherished memories. As it turned out, one of my friend’s daughters is studying in Christchurch, and after viewing our itinerary and speaking with another team member of the company, he and his wife have decided to explore other parts of New Zealand using this exemplary, professional, and probably best, detailed-oriented company.

We want to personally thank our agent for her marvelous suggestions, arrangements, and positive, charming, professional, and gracious personality. You truly created a most memorable trip experience that will not be forgotten and will always be appreciated.

Luxury New Zealand Vacation Review: Auckland, Abel Tasman Kayaking & Hiking, Milford Sound Hiking

This New Zealand travel agency did a great job, we gave some perimeters they gave use an itinerary which was very good we requested some changes based on friends and research and they were very accommodating. The places we stayed were special as were the activities they arranged. In addition they were helpful when we were traveling -- when our gps said we had arrived at our destination in the dark and it was in the middle of a cow field, we called and got their help. The whole trip was effortless: cars, transfers, b&b's, and adventures. It seems we also got great rooms at the places to stay- on the Abel Tasman trip we got the two ocean facing rooms.

Review: New Zealand Luxury Vacation, Auckland, Queenstown, Kaikoura, Bronte, Milford Sound, Abel Tasman Park, Waiheke Island

I am so impressed with this travel company.  All the arrangements that were made for us were fantastic.  The hotel in Auckland was a wonderful hotel,  walking distance to the harbor and to the car rental company.  Another accommodation was a lodge on a very nice spot on the lake.  The lodge in Hawkes Bay was beautiful.  I was so impressed with the owners and the lovely gardens they created on their property.  The food and service was five star.  The lodge in Bronte was also lovely and again, the owners made our stay memorable. My husband left important documents in our room and the owners sent them overnight to us at our next hotel.  So grateful.  They also were extremely helpful with things to see nearby. Love the idea that at two of our lodges, one of the owners was also a wonderful chef.  The hotel in Kaikoura was a little disappointing in that the room was very warm and the breakfast just okay.  Our least favorite stay.  The hotel in Queenstown was in a wonderful location, easy walk to the center of town.  It's a lovely little hotel.  The breakfast was great.  My only complaint would be the carpet was stained and had a bit of odor.  A change of carpet would make all the difference.

All of the excursions that were planned for us were wonderful.  We were unable to do the river safari.  We cancelled it because the weather was poor for the Milford Sound trip but we were told we could do it the next day in lieu of the river trip.  Between the two, I am so happy we were able to see Milford Sound.  We used one day to drive to Glenorchy.  What a wonderful drive.  So picturesque.

I will be very happy to recommend this travel company to friends who plan to travel to New Zealand in the future.
