Cusco - Arrive in the Capital of the Incans to Prepare for the Stunning Trek
The city of Cusco creates a marvelous ambiance at an elevation of over 11,000 feet above sea level. Spanish Colonial churches stand atop strong foundations set by the Inca and the boulder walls of Sacsayhuaman remain strong on the hill overlooking the city. The black and gray colors of the ruin’s stones shimmer in the passing sunlight surrounding by the rolling peaks of the Andes Mountains. The Inca crafted the boulders like puzzle pieces, fitting each stone together without the need for mortar, and the snug positioning keeps objects as thin as a blade of grass from entering between the stones.
Your flight lands at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, where your private transfer greets you upon arrival. Cusco offers a captivating atmosphere shaped by the cobblestone streets, tiled rooftops, and urban sprawl winding along the bordering slopes. The Central Market is filled with the aromas of fresh popcorn and simmering chicken soup. Produce, such as purple corn and a variety of potatoes line the aisles against large bags of quinoa and beans.
The church of La Compania de Jesus was erected in the 16th century and rebuilt after an earthquake in the mid-1600’s. The church boasts a grand facade competing with the beauty of the crowning cathedral in the Plaza de Armas. The baroque design of the exterior gives way to the magnificent gold altarpiece of the interior, which hosts a series of shimmering polychrome statues. The structure was erected on the foundations of the Huayna Capac Palace, home to the last ruler of the Inca Empire.

We would highly recommend this Peru travel company to help you to organize your trip. We came back from a two week-long trip to Peru a few days ago. We have been independent travelers in the past so this was our first experience in being accompanied by guides for a good part of the vacation. Paul from this agency contracted with the local tour operator to arrange transportation and guides. His dossier contained everything we needed to know, including suggestions for tipping, places to enjoy a delicious meal, and more. All of our guides were very intelligent, passionate about what they did, had a great deal of pride for their country, and highly knowledgeable about the sites, history, culture, and traditions of their country. We not only enjoyed the tours, but also learned quite a bit about the Peruvian educational and political systems through our discussions. The guides were respectful and easy to share our time with. My only complaint is that their English was so good that we were less apt to use Spanish, although that was counterbalanced by their willingness to teach us a little Quechua! Special kudos to our guide who supported us when one family member became ill enough with altitude sickness to have to stay overnight at a clinic/hospital. We traveled to Lima, Cusco, Aguas Calientes, Sacred Valley, and Puerto Maldonado. While we enjoyed some activities in Lima, we probably could have shortened our three night stay there to either venture to another location or stay longer in one of the other places. Cusco was simply lovely and we had great meals and tours there and in the Sacred Valley. We were treated to a delicious lunch at a new place right outside of Moray. We loved seeing Machu Picchu but also were glad that we stayed an extra day to climb Huayna Picchu. Our stay in Puerto Maldonado was lots of fun--our days were full with many ecoguide-led outdoor activities, including a hot trek through mud to a boat ride (fun!!), a nighttime walk, a canopy walk, and boat rides (looking for caimans at night was a highlight). Overall, we had an excellent trip which would not have been possible without Paul's help. He listened well to our wishes, made suggestions based upon what we said, and arranged for wonderful accommodations for our family. We suggest that you use this travel agency to book your next adventure. And also highly suggest that you consider Peru as a fun and varied country to visit!

We were extremely happy with every aspect of our trip to Peru and the outstanding assistance and support by Stuart, Satish and others at our Peru travel agency. We flew directly to Cusco and spent two nights there seeing the various sites in and around the city with a private guide, then a private guided tour to the Sacred Valley by van spending the night in Ollantaytambo. The next morning we took the train to Machu Picchu and had a private tour of the ruins followed by a stay in the wonderful Inkaterra MP Pueblo. The following day we took the train from Aguas Caliente to Cusco - a very pleasant and comfortable way to travel. The next morning we were off to the airport traveling to Puerto Maldonado for a three night stay in the Inkaterra Amazonica Reserva. We had wonderful guides with a special hats off to Jorge in Cusco and SV. Our MP guide was also excellent. We had terrific support getting around in all the locations and would highly recommend this travel company to not only our friends but to all who consider traveling to and about Peru!

This travel agency and it's owner/agent planned a fabulous Peru vacation for us (July 2018). I'm impressed by the flexibility, customization, experience, and recommendations our travel agent provided. He followed through with attention to all details, and he was available and expertly made required itinerary changes when we missed our connecting flight.
We chose the destinations, hotel star level, and duration (13 days). Our travel agent then made the itinerary proposals, giving us guidance and input. We chose to visit the Amazon jungle and the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, staying in 4 star hotels. We went to Tambopata and stayed at the Refugio Amazonas jungle lodge for 3 nights. The lodge and its surroundings are beautiful. The macaw clay lick tour is not to be missed. We then visited charming Cusco for 2 days, allowing us to acclimate to the altitude (11,000 feet) for our trek. We had great private tours of Cusco and the Sacred Valley with guides from the tour company. We then had a fabulous 4 day private Inca Trail Trek, also guided by our tour company. The hotel in Cusco was very nice and well positioned in the historic district. Our travel agent's choice of a suite at the hotel in Aguas Clients after the trek was a luxurious treat after camping.
I give this travel company my highest recommendation. The trip was first rate, well planned, well supported, and a good value. I also enthusiastically recommend traveling to Peru; the sites are spectacular, the people are friendly and honest, the food is very good, and we felt safe throughout our trip. It was a exhilarating, memorable vacation.

Zicasso's travel specialist was spectacular in every way. From the inception of communication and planning, through arranging for all of our tickets, hotels, transport, and amazing dining experiences, to the incredible support and guides we enjoyed along the way... they were outstanding and we received five-star service.
We were a demanding group of 13, ranging in ages from 17 to over 60, and we all had an absolute blast! We had an absolutely amazing trip. The Lares Trail and Machu Picchu (and our climb up Huayna Picchu) are by far some of the most memorable experiences we've ever had.
Our guide and driver were awesome... kind, professional, and accommodating, and our guide especially was very knowledgeable, with so much respect and love for the surrounding nature and culture.
Our travel specialist was timely, attentive, and responsive to all of our requests, and helped us collectively achieve one of the greatest vacations we have ever experienced.
They were 100% accurate in terms of how to prepare us for the altitude and allow us enough time to acclimatize in Cusco (and with a great, long, mountain bike ride at high elevation). Our specialist provided excellent recommendations for how to fill some additional time in Cusco while we acclimated. We loved touring Cusco itself, and seeing Sacsayhuaman, several spots in the Sacred Valley, and the Maras Salt Mines were all unforgettable experiences. We also loved the hotel she had us at in Cusco. It was a great spot to be able to explore the city on our own time.
After seeing all of the coordination, especially for the Lares Trail and Machu Picchu, we're so relieved we chose to go through Zicasso for this trip and were connected with our travel specialist and her company. Everything was well planned and thought out, and if anything was not right, they sought to immediately correct it. Our guide was on top of every detail and it was great knowing our agent was just a text or phone call away.

Our Peru trip was very well organized by the tour operator that we chose, and it was one of our best international trip experiences. I was really impressed by the punctuality and helpfulness of our points of contact and guides in Cusco and everyone was so courteous. We're group of 3 adults and covered Lima, Cusco, Inca trail, Machu picchu and Agua Calientas. We spent only a day in Lima but our guide gave us a great tour of the city and it's history. Cusco was relaxing and very different that the usual tourist towns. Inca trail was breath-taking and awe-inspiring. Our Inca trail guide was great and had an interesting sense of humor which made the hike pretty enjoyable. The porters and cook were very nice and effable people and the time we spent on the trail was amazing. The only hiccup during the trip was the hotel room arrangement at Novotel in Cusco. The room assigned was too small for our group of 3 people and the hotel staff was a bit adamant on us paying the difference in tariff for moving us to a bigger room. Our contacts at the tour company were very helpful and great. They were able to help us resolve the situation with the hotel even though it was late at night before we started the Inca trail. Overall, it was an excellent arrangement and awesome trip, would certainty cherish the good times.
