Luxury Portugal Trip Review: Porto, Lisbon, Alentejo Region, Douro Valley, Schist Mountain Villages, Evora, Pottery Workshop, Food

The trip was absolutely amazing. This travel company did an incredible job setting up hotels, guides, drivers and experiences to last a lifetime. It was so stress free- all we had to do was ENJOY Portugal. And we certainly did just that- the country is beautiful and the people so kind and humble and proud of their country. We traveled from Porto to the southern Alentejo region. So we visited the large cities of Porto and Lisbon as well as many small villages in between. Our actives were centered around the culture, the food and wine, the people and the history of the region. Also, I was celebrating a birthday during our travels, and our travel agency made sure it was extra special and a beautiful memory. The planning process was easy and fun. They listened closely to everything I said we wanted or did not want. They had great ideas of things to do, that I would have never known about- if not for their travel expertise. The flexibility during the trip, when we stumbled onto a small village festival and wanted to enjoy some unplanned festivities - was great-Easy, No problem. I can’t say enough great things about the people we worked with to plan the trip and the people that took care of us during the trip.

Luxury Portugal Travel Review: Golfing, Cork Forest, Wineries, Exploring Walled Cities, Tuk Tuk Tour, Castles
My husband and I are thrilled that we used the travel company for our two-week trip to Portugal. Usually we plan our trips on our own but we are do glad that we decided to engage the local expertise of Nuno and his colleagues. Together with our input, they designed an itinerary that provided a complete mix of experiences and locations that were on and off the beaten path. By using a Portuguese agency who really knows how to experience the country, we were able to see so many cities and towns without feeling rushed (Porto, Braga, Obidos, Coimbra, Monsaraz, Evora, Douro Valley, Alentejo Region, Lisbon, Sintra). We visited historic landmarks, wineries, quaint walled cities, a cork forest, golf courses, palaces, and more. Most impressive was the quality of the guides in each location. Nuno made sure that we had local guides with deep knowledge in each place we visited. We also had excellent drivers who made great suggestions about what to do, see, and eat when we had time on our own. It was a pleasure having others do the driving and get us everywhere with ease and on time. The travel company was also available by phone every day if we had any questions or concerns while we were in the country. If you are going to Portugal and you want a trip that is top-notch in every way, the travel company will exceed your expectations.

Travel Review: Portugal Vacation, Lisbon, Sintra, Porto, Douro Valley, Fishing Village, Fish Market, 7-Day Trip
Our trip was organized to the last detail, nothing was missed. Our travel specialists and our guides were all aware of of our needs (local food, customs, and culture). They were all hospitable and eager to introduce my wife and I to their country. Portugal was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and our guides went over and above to show us the highlights and some of the hidden gems in Lisbon, Sintra, and Porto, as well as the Douro Valley. One of the highlights was a visit to a fishing village and then to a fish market. There we selected fresh fish which was then taken next door to a restaurant where they expertly prepared it for us. Delicious! We will never forget this vacation. Obrigado!

Portugal Luxury Family Travel Review: Lisbon, Lagos, Porto, Douro Valley, Argarve, Vineyards, Sintra, Palaces, Kayaking, 9-Day Trip
Our agent Nuno did a wonderful job planning my family vacation! We had 6 family members to transport around Lisbon, Lagos and Porto for various activities in each area. Our trip was well planned and so enjoyable! Every person we dealt with was punctual and pleasant. Our trip with our guide to the Douro Valley was especially memorable. He took great care of us and shared a lot of information about Portugal. Portugal was a wonderful place to visit. Thank you for helping us have a memorable family trip!!

Luxury Portugal Travel Agent Review: Porto, Coimbra, Douro Valley, Braga, Tomar, Boat Tour, Cork Farm, Winery Visit, 12-Night Tour

It was a wonderful trip. We really enjoyed our outstanding tour guides. They were very knowledgeable, interesting, and fun. Our last guide was a favorite, but we have to mention our guide in Porto who gave a personalized and informed tour of the city, our guide in Coimbra, and our guide at the cork farm were also great.

Our travel company was flexible and accommodating when we asked for some changes once, we realized how taxing walking tours were on many hills and stairs. They arranged riding transportation for the next few tours.

All but one of the hotels was excellent. The Douro Valley hotel was not a 4-star hotel by any standards we know. Rooms are on tiers with many outdoor steps to any room (no lift). The restaurant looks like a big cafeteria and all meals are Buffett. The food was mediocre. It is located at the top of a mountain with no access to other restaurants. The service was below standard. We should have been informed clearly of the hotel change from the original proposal.

We were disappointed that we did not get our final Travel Book Itinerary until 2 days before we left for our trip. If it had come a week or so earlier, we might have been able to make a few adjustments.

Portugal Tour Review: Fatima, Algarve, Porto, Douro Valley, Quintas, Wine, Local Cuisine, Fado, 2-Week Trip

Overall, our itinerary, meals, excursions, drivers, and tour guides in Portugal were top-notch. Our first two hotel accommodations in Porto and the Douro Valley did not meet our expectations. The first one was extremely small and poorly lit; the second one was very isolated and difficult to get around. After that, the hotels improved substantially.

All communication with our Zicasso travel agent was done by text or phone.
