Detailed Description

South Africa is the land of nature's giants. Elephants move in large herds, their trumpeted calls resonating beyond the horizon. Buffalos march, rumbling footsteps echoing far across the savannah. Great white sharks leap clear of frothy ocean waters, often with a seal carcass hanging limply from razored teeth. In a calm bay, a little further around the coast, female southern right whales nurture their calves. The 50 to 60-ton males follow the scent of the hormones, filling the bay with further charms. Back on the savannah, and the predators rule their kingdom, lion prides who bask beneath trees and leopards who drape their spots across the acacia branches. Then there are also rhinos, over half the world's wild and endangered population residing in the savannah where you'll be going on safari. It's not just the big five. There are seven giants to intimately discover.

South Africa's dramatic landscapes provide the starting point to this tour, the vertical Table Mountain Chain casting a shadow across two different oceans. Spend the first two days in Cape Town and the mountain is almost always in view, including when you sip wine from the sensual vineyards of its hidden back slopes. Follow the waves two hours east, stopping in Gansbaai for a boat trip to Shark Alley. Great whites soar from the water then disappear into the depths, only to return and circle as they intercept seals out hunting for fish. From the safety of a half-submerged cage, you admire their haunting beauty, sometimes from barely one or two meters away. Continue 30 minutes further to Walker Bay and migratory southern right whales can be spotted from your hotel balcony. Next, you'll enjoy thrilling close-ups, choosing either a boat or kayak tour across the bay. Weighing over 50 tons, these are some of the largest mammals alive, and they're in frisky mood as the mating and calving seasons coincide.

Then it's onto the savannah, a flight taking you from Cape Town to the Sabi Sands and an airstrip that's surrounded by the drama of the wild. On the transfer to the lodge, there will be a series of encounters, Africa's big game roaming freely in a huge unfenced habitat. The land-based big five are here, and they're found in abundance; Sabi Sands isn't a place to glimpse the revered animals, it's where you're fully immersed in the rhythm of the savannah, from elephants wandering past at dinner time to lionesses and buffaloes clashing at sunrise.

Three days of safari means the experience isn't rushed, and you can explore in a variety of ways. Walking safaris bring intimate moments with the smaller animals while nighttime drives find the predators on the move. This is wild Africa, and you don't need to search for the big five; sometimes you're sitting on the verandah, and a herd of elephants or a small rhino family will wander past before your eyes. From the Sabi Sands, there are direct flights to Johannesburg, where you connect with your international flight, after seeing the big seven in just seven nights.

Review: Luxury Africa Safari, Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Chobe Game Lodge, Lions Sands Ivory Lodge, Okavango Delta

WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING!

Making a Safari in Africa was on the top of my bucket list and I wanted to do it “in style”. We also wanted a company who was located in Africa and who had established a good infrastructure. We hoped to avoid delays between inter-camps on the small planes.

All this was fulfilled by this safari travel company. They designed a programme for us where we were eased into safari life beginning with Chobe Game Lodge, then onto our first tent experience at Xakanaxa, then onto Okavango delta area for a water and walking safari experience. Our agent then organsed our trip to Cape Town and a sojourn to Hermanus by private car and then flew us back to the stupendous Lions Sands Ivory Lodge in Kruger. Of special mention in Hermanus is the charming Ocean Eleven B&B. The location, room and the breakfast spread deserve special mention.

Throughout our trip, all accommodation was wonderful, staff, game wardens and trackers most knowledgeable and kind, all transfers seamless (so we didn’t miss any game drives), the private car service for the Cape experience was excellent .. and of course, the animals.

On Safari, one expects to see many animals. Well, in the 4 lodges/camps that we stayed, we saw elephants, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, jackal, spotted wild dogs, buffaloes, rhinos, impalas, kudus, sable, bush bucks, nyalas, waterbuck, wildebeest, giraffe, zebras, hippos, warthogs, baboons, small animals like banded mongoose, crocodiles and countless species of birds and the beautiful African frog. And then the whales in Hermanus

We stayed at : Chobe Game Lodge (3N), Xakanaxa Camp (2N), Okavango (Delta) Camp (2N) all in Botswana, Ocean Eleven B&B @ Hermanus (2N), Ivory Lodge, Lions Sands in Kruger, S.Africa (2N). We also had 3 nights in Cape Town and an over-nighter at Johannesburg.

We confidently recommend this company to anyone who is considering a Safari. On a scale of 1-5, we would give them the full 5 points.

South Africa, Botswana & Zimbabwe Luxury Travel Review: Cape Town, Kruger National Park, Okavango Delta, Wildlife, 2-Week Trip
Neil did an awesome job curating our 2-week trip. He helped us to minimize the travel time from Cape Town to our camp in Botswana (and onward to Zimbabwe and then back into Kruger Park area in SA).  Saw all the big animals in both Botswana and SA ... guides at "and Beyond" in Okavango Delta and in the game reserve in Sabi Sand respectfully were outstanding!

Namibia, South Africa & Zimbabwe Review: Victoria Falls National Park, Luxury Africa Safari, Cape Town, Paragliding, Riverboat
We just returned from an amazing trip in Africa. This travel team did an amazing job setting up our tour, and everything worked out perfectly. The first 6 days of the trip were in Cape Town and Hermanus, and the guide they set us up with was fantastic. If you are going to Cape Town, definitely ask that this travel team set you up with him.  We had a wine tasting up on Table Mountain, we tryed Paragliding off of Signal Hill, the hotel at the water front in Cape Town was perfect as well. Hermanus for whale watching was nice, but I recommend that you stay a few extra nights at the Water Front and do that as a day trip.  We were supposed to do a Shark Cage Dive, but the weather didn't cooperate for that, so that is the main reason we stayed in Hermanus. Next we went to Ulusaba Lodge at a private game reserve by Kruger National Park. That was a 5 star amazing experience. It is owned by Richard Branson, and we loved every minute of it. Next we went to Zimbabwe to Elephant Camp in luxury tents, which were more like little houses with amazing views. We visited Victoria Falls as well. The staff there were also fabulous. The last part of our trip was on the Chobe Princess riverboat on the Chobe River in Namibia. Initially, it was a hassle with going through multiple immigrations on our drive to the get on the boat through Zimbabwe, Botswana, then Namibia, but in the end, it was all worth it. Seeing the wildlife by boat was a different perspective and an amazing experience. They would do multiple game drives via a smaller boat that was a tender for the riverboat.  We were able to bring it right up to shore an get close to Elephants, crocodiles, hippos, giraffe, and baboons. Overall, this travel team planned out a perfect trip for us. We got to see all of the "Big 5" plus almost every other animal you can imagine. All of our guides and staff were a pleasure to work with, the food was amazing. The only thing I wish is that it wasn't such a long journey to get there from the US. But it is a small price to pay for the travel time to make a memory like that! Thank you Zicasso for once again setting us up with a great Travel Agency to work with.

Review: Africa Safari, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Garden Route

I would rate This company 4.5 Stars: they were almost, but not quite, perfect.

From the moment we received our agent's original proposal for a trip to southern Africa for two seniors couples, we felt that she, more than the other agents who contacted us, truly understood what we wanted. Our major intention was to see African wildlife, but we also wanted to explore parts of South Africa. As we learned more about our destination, we requested changes, and our agent was patient and helpful in making suggestions and revisions.

Ultimately, she devised an itinerary that had us begin with a brief visit to Victoria Falls, continue with safaris in Botswana and Namibia, and conclude several weeks later with safaris in Kruger National Park and Thornybush Private Game Reserve in South Africa. This brilliant arrangement allowed us to maintain excitement about the safaris, each of which was substantially different,  and to have absolutely the best weather for each area because we were moving south as summer approached. Between these safaris, our agent arranged for a visit to Cape Town and environs, a self-driving tour of the Garden Route, and private guided trips to God’s Window, the Pot Holes, and the canyons near Hazy View.

Our agent also did a superb job in arranging accommodations. We did not want to stay in major chain hotels, so she arranged a series of absolutely charming boutique hotels and cottages. She also strongly urged us to stay in a Kruger Park rest camp, something we would never considered otherwise, but it turned out to be a splendid idea. The great variety in lodgings added interest and even excitement to the trip. At Hermanus, for example, we sat on our balcony drinking wine while watching whales breeching just off shore. To help us during our time of self-driving exploration, our agent provided a booklet outlining some interesting sites and activities.

On top of all this, our agent did an excellent job of arranging transfers, which were uniformly punctual, and in contracting private engaging guided tours in Cape Town, Hazy View area, and Johannesburg. She also arranged to have a superb private guide for our stay in Kruger National Park.

In all, our agent did an excellent job, with only the brief trip into Namibia falling short of our expectations and the high standards she established with the rest of the itinerary. It would be difficult to find an agent who showed more concern for making this kind of once-in-a-lifetime trip more pleasant, entertaining, and truly memorable. She receives our enthusiastic recommendation.

South Africa Tour Review: Luxury Africa Safari & Cape Town, Kruger National Park, Paragliding Off Signal Hill, Museums & Culture

Shortly after using the Zicasso site to send my safari inquiry out, I received a call from numerous agents all willing to help organize the safari of my dreams.      After careful consideration I chose our trip planner with this travel team.  She listened to my ideas, wish lists, hopes and expectations.  Not only did our trip planner fulfill all of my requests, she went over and above to ensure all my needs were met.  The entire trip was seamless.  I had to travel to Africa by myself one the first leg of the trip to complete a Medical Missions trip to Zimbabwe, and subsequently met my husband in Johannesburg, SA following my medical duties.  This trip planner ensured that my spouse was adequately care for in every detail.  She arranged transports to and from hotels and airports, helped get us through customs, porters, literally every small detail was looked after.      Our trip planner planned a most extraordinary adventure for us in Cape Town which was more than our expectations could ever have been.  We got to experience first-hand the rich Jewish Heritage of the Cape Town area, visit the Holocaust museum, the synagogue, and experience the rich culinary world Cape Town has become to be known.  Every restaurant was incredible!  We toured around the entire peninsula area with an amazing guide who was a Cape Town native.  Therefore we felt as if we got a genuine cultural experience and learned amazing things about South Africa which we had never known prior.      Then we were off to the Sabi Sands Game Reserve in the greater Kruger National Park for the safari of a lifetime.  Not only was the lodge astounding, but the icing on the cake was the chef was very familiar with Kosher dietary laws and was most accommodating to my needs.  We saw all the big five gaming animals on the first day.  Each and every experience we had was life-changing.  We made so many wonderful memories.  We look forward to our next adventure and would rank our experience with this travel company the best experience anyone could possible have.

South Africa Safari Travel Review: Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Sabi Sabi, Plettenberg Bay

The safari tour company helped us design an incredible vacation. They did a wonderful job recommending things to do and places to go. We were in Cape Town for 5 nights, Stellenbosch for 2, Sabi Sabi for 4 and Plettenberg Bay for 2 days. Each place was more beautiful than the next. They were able to get us into Sabi Sabi at pretty late notice over the week before Easter. Sabi Sabi was wonderful. We were 10 people with 4 kids (3,5,6, and 8). We had our own vehicle and so the kids were able to go on all the Safari drives and we saw all big 5. The Elephun center at Sabi was beyond amazing and the kids fell in love with our driver Francois. In Cape Town, we stayed in Camps Bay which I would recommend to anyone and Clouds Estate probably has the most beautiful views in the Stellenbosch (the driver that the safari tour company helped arrange at the lost moment, said that the de Graff family that bought the property next door for its view and purchased the wrong property). Flying around SA was easy and even though our luggage missed a connection from Kruger to George (thru Johannesburg) - we got it delivered the next day with absolutely no problem.
