Seville - Arrive in Seville and Explore the Historic City
To visit Seville is to understand this famous quote: "He who has not seen Sevilla, has not seen a marvel." You will begin your tour here and will have a chance to explore the hidden corners of this magical city. This morning, you will meet your guide to begin a tour along the banks of the Guadalquivir River. Here you will learn about Seville's illustrious history and rich culture, as you take a relaxed walk through the heart of old Seville. The influence of the Moorish Almohad Dynasty during the 12th and 13th centuries can still be seen throughout Sevilla, from the soaring La Giralda tower to the expansive gardens of the Real Alcázar Palace.
You’ll visit many important monuments including la Torre de Oro (Tower of Gold), built around 1220 and the last monument constructed by the Moors. You’ll see the city’s most important site, la Catedral de Sevilla, the third largest cathedral in the world. According to legend, when the officials met to plan the cathedral's construction one of them exclaimed, "Let us build a cathedral of such immense proportions that the rest of the world will think us mad!" One special feature of the cathedral is the majestic Giralda tower, the only detail that remains of the original 12th-century mosque (the mosque was converted to the cathedral in 1248). You will climb to the dizzying heights of the Giralda tower to take in a fantastic panoramic view of Seville.
For lunch, enjoy a the local cuisine at a gourmet tapas restaurant and be sure to sample the specialties, including garlic shrimp, roasted rosemary chicken, seafood stew and gazpacho soup. The tour continues with an exploration of the Barrio Santa Cruz neighborhood. Once the center of Seville’s Jewish community, the Barrio Santa Cruz is a delightful maze of shaded narrow streets. Wander around to discover craftsman workshops, tiny boutiques and patios filled with orange trees and flowers. Later in the afternoon, you’ll have free time to take a siesta or you may continue sightseeing with an excursion to the Calle Sierpes, where fashionable shops and charming cafes await!

Our trip to Spain was wonderful and everything went as planned. The three hotels we stayed in (Madrid, La Rioja, Barcelona) met or exceeded expectations. Our guides were very knowledgeable and personable.

Zicasso's travel company did a wonderful job planning our trip. They were helpful and patient with me while planning our Spain trip. They truly listened to what we wanted in a trip and respected our budget.
All the tours we took were wonderful, with personable guides, and our drivers for transportation were also great. Everyone was on time, always. We had a flight delay leaving the US, resulting in missing an entire day in Barcelona. The agency could not have been better about getting transportation and tours moved, and making adjustments for us. We were still able to take all of our tours despite missing a day.
Also, while in Spain, our flight from San Sebastián to Madrid was canceled. The agency let us know right away and quickly made other arrangements. I could not have been happier with how they dealt with travel issues, especially when the issues we had were due to flights and not something they had booked for us. I was truly able to relax and have fun knowing that the agents at the travel company would handle any issues we faced.
I absolutely would recommend this company and happily use them again if I ever travel to areas they cover.
