Raiatea – Boarding the Luxury Yacht
The richness of Raiatea emanates from the emerald jungles and jagged mountains overlooking the sapphire and indigo colors of the South Pacific. Legend states the island was the birthplace of Polynesia, adding a layer of mystic and majestic ambiance to the unprecedented landscape. Coconut palms line the seaside and mango trees grow along the edges of hidden villages set in the jungle hills. Your flight lands at Raiatea Airport, located near the town of Uturoa. The stoic sea brushes against the shallow sands along the edges of the runway. The aroma of the salt water blends with the sweet air carrying the scent of coconut.
The island is the second largest, after Tahiti, encompassing nearly 65 square miles. The steep mountains slope down, nearly touching the reefs fringing the lagoon. Images of dangling fish caught fresh that morning fill the market in Uturoa. Produce shimmers with vibrant oranges, reds, and yellows against the lush greenery of the island trees. Your private transfer escorts you from the airport to your yacht situated in Marina Apooiti. Take your time settling into the island with a visit to the Taputapuatea, with the best-preserved historical site on the island located on the southeastern coast. The Marea had established themselves on the island before the 11th century, utilizing their navigators to travel across the Pacific. The archaeological complex features remnants of stone structures and a central temple in view of the glowing sea.

While my family and I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of Tahiti, I regret to say that our experience with Zicasso's travel agent did not meet our expectations. We entrusted her with planning our 10-day vacation for a group of six, including four young adults in their 20s and early 30s, and unfortunately, several issues impacted our trip.
Of the ten days we were in Tahiti, only two excursions were arranged by our agent. Prior to departure, she sent us a finalized itinerary, and based on that schedule, we booked additional activities for the open days. However, on the second day of our trip, she informed us we had missed an excursion in Moorea. I referenced the itinerary she had provided, which listed that excursion for the following day. She claimed that the schedule had changed, and I was looking at an outdated version, despite never receiving an update or notification. She then placed the blame on airport staff for not informing us of the change—something that should have been her responsibility.
Additionally, the selection of one of the hotels for four nights did not align with the preferences we discussed. While the island and hotel are beautiful, the location was extremely isolated and better suited for honeymooners or older couples. The concierge offered little support in finding local activities, and we were disappointed to miss Easter Sunday services, which we had hoped to attend but received no assistance arranging.
Another major concern was the lodging setup. Our agent booked three rooms, each with a king and a single bed. This configuration was excessive for our group, as we could have comfortably managed with two rooms. This was an unnecessary expense, especially given the already significant cost of the trip.
Due to these issues—lack of communication, poor alignment with our group’s interests, and inefficient planning—I would not recommend her services, nor would I book with this travel agency again.

This was one of the top three vacations of my life, and I've been lucky enough to go on many holidays over my 65 years. From the hotels we stayed at to the food at the resorts and the people at the resorts and in public, everything was perfect.
We had a little snafu at the beginning when our flight was canceled and we ended up leaving 24 hours later, but that had nothing to do with the Zicasso travel company, and after one quick phone call, the itinerary was adjusted to our new day and time of arrival.
Drivers met us at hotels and airports when they were supposed to, hotel rooms were available and ready when they should have been, and our organized trips went off like a dream. A helicopter tour of one of the islands was canceled due to the airport being closed and we received a refund within days of our return.
The resorts in Bora Bora and Taha'a were particularly nice; great choices!!

Planning the trip was easy. The travel designer had first hand knowledge of both places we wanted to go to and kept to our budget while helping us plan a great trip. Our trip ended up being ten days total with five nights in Bora Bora and four in Tahiti. Due to Covid restrictions and lockdowns on the islands, we ended up postponing our trip. She was very helpful in getting everything rescheduled for our new dates. During the trip, she checked in and when two of our activities were canceled due to the weather she was in contact and helped us reschedule or get a refund.
In Bora Bora, we stayed in an overwater bungalow and the views were incredible. We were able to jump directly into the ocean and snorkel around our balcony. We enjoyed a helicopter ride over Bora Bora as an introduction to the island - it was breathtaking to see the beautiful water and land from above. We did a 4x4 land tour to learn more about the history and culture of the island and the people. The lagoon tour to swim with sharks, rays, eels and many fish in the coral gardens was an amazing snorkeling experience. The jet ski tour was fun to see the water color change up close and explore around the island.
In Tahiti we had a car so we explored the island at our own pace and visited many places along the way - waterfalls, took an impromptu hike in the water gardens and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We ended our trip with a whale watching tour, we saw a mother and baby whale from a distance on our boat. As a bonus we saw spinner dolphins leaping from the water and a sea turtle. What a great way to end the trip! Overall we enjoyed working with the travel designer and would recommend others to plan a trip with her - Bora Bora/Tahiti are true paradises everyone should see! Zicasso made planning our dream vacation easy, we look forward to using them again for our next vacation.See more
