Bora Bora – Adventures in French Polynesia

Bora Bora is an island of majesty and adventure, from volcanic craters to emerald jungle canopies, radiant exotic flowers and glistening waters ranging from turquoise to indigo. The Central market in Vaitape glows with the colors of tropical fruits, highlighting mango, guava, and pineapple. The scent of creamy banana drifts down the aisles. The upper floor contains pearl vendors offering insight into the sheen and prestige of the precious stone. Fishermen showcase their daily catch for passersby, and the aroma of the ocean remains prevalent along the coastal road.

Your flight lands at Bora Bora Airport, where your private transfer greets you upon your arrival. You take a boat across the shimmering crystal clear and indigo waters of the celebrated lagoon to reach the secluded luxury of your five-star accommodation. You settle into the comforts of an iconic overwater bungalow. The thatched roof connects the traditional culture and style of the island with contemporary luxuries. You have a view to the east and the basalt peak of Mount Otemanu. A raised wooden walkway connects your suite to the hotel along the island shores.

Coconut palms shade the infinity pool looking out to the bungalows. After getting acquainted with your hotel grounds, you return to the shores of Bora Bora for an introduction to the historical sites along the east coast. At Marae Aehautai, you find one of the oldest temples on the island, dating back more than a millennium. The stone slab marks the base of the temple grounds in view of the soaring peak of Mount Otemanu. In the distance, your guide points to the outlines of Raiatea and Taha’a Islands.

Travel Review: Luxury Tahiti Wedding Anniversary Trip, Bora Bora, Moorea, Raiatea, Catamaran Sunset Cruise, Sailing, Jeep Tour
I typically don't write reviews; however, for our travel specialist and the travel company, I am making an exception. Our trip to FP was to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. I wanted it to be the trip of a lifetime and it surpassed our expectations. Our travel specialist listened to our interests: we wanted to have the classic overwater bungalow experience, but, we also wanted to be on a boat as well as we met sailing and bareboat charter as a family. Our travel specialist put together the itinerary we were looking for: Four night on Moorea, three nights on the motor yacht ship, four nights on Bora Bora. We had also asked to do a couple of land based activities as well. We arrived in Tahiti after a long day of travel, and were taken to the hotel for an overnight. In the morning, we were taken to the ferry dock for our transfer to Moorea. On arrival we were taken to the hotel in Moorea. On Moorea our travel specialist booked a catamaran sunset cruise for two. Wonderful. She also booked a jeep tour. Some other guests said their tour was 'okay' (the drive didn't speak English). Our tour was really a pleasant surprise. The driver was excellent (played the ukule and sang). On day 4 we were transferred to the airport for a quick flight to Raiatea and were transferred to the harbor for our cruise on the ship. The cruise was incredible. There were twenty guests taken care of by a thirteen member crew. We had a breakfast on a beach. A lunch of the beach. As they were aware of our anniversary (and my wife's birthday) we had a private dinner every night at a different location on the boat. One night they serenaded us and presented an anniversary dessert. I can't say enough about how well we were treated. the ship cruised over to Bora Bora where we were dropped off. The captain of our private water taxi was waiting. He was in dress whites and the 30' boat felt very 'James Bond' like. It was fun to be whisked away to the hotel in Bora Bora this way! The hotel staff were excellent. The hotel food and service hit the mark. After our four days (including shark and stringray tour) it was time to head home. Again, thank you to our travel specialist for a spectacular trip!

French Polynesian Travel Review: Luxury Honeymoon, Bora Bora, Tikehau Atoll, Beaches, Snorkeling
My husband and I were hoping to live our French Polynesian dream for our honeymoon and the tour planner at the travel company didn't disappoint. From our first conversation, our planner has been sharing with us his expertise on the region, listened to our request and maximized the possibilities for us to enjoy the most of this beautiful location within our budget. This was of course before the COVID pandemic changed our plans. During this stressful time, our planner has been monitoring every change, rebooked our flights multiple times as they were canceled, used his network to keep us updated along the way. The tour planner received our full trust as he was genuinely caring for this once in a lifetime experience. Our trip to Bora Bora and Tikehau was a dream and we actually set a goal for us to come back in 5 years for our anniversary and we would love to partner with this planner again. Our tour planner's empathy and kindness were really appreciated and come a long way.

Luxury French Polynesia Travel Review: Tahiti, Motu Tautau, Bora Bora, Rangirora, Blue Lagoon, Sting Rays, Snorkeling, Sharks
We very much enjoyed our experience in French Polynesia! We visited Tahiti (for one night), a resort on Motu Tautau, Bora Bora and Rangirora. The transfers and flights went very well and we liked the islands we visited and our accommodations! One of the hotels we were originally going to stay at was going to be on strike during our stay so our travel agent found us even better accommodations on another island, which ended up being great!

Luxury French Polynesia Vacation Review: Moorea, Cruise, Snorkeling, Excursions, Beach Massage, 16-Night Tour
We just returned from a fabulous trip to French Polynesia that included a cruise and a stay in Moorea in an overwater bungalow. The trip was first class phenomenal. The cruise exceeded all our expectations from customer service, our cabin, the excursions and the food. And the bungalow on Moorea was the dream of a lifetime. Could not ask for anything more than entering the beautiful lagoon right from our back patio to swim and snorkel. Our travel company and most importantly our advisor, Shelley, were truly great through this experience. They totally have the knowledge to recommend and tailor the trip to what we were looking for. And most importantly, we stuck together for almost 3 years on this trip as it was initially scheduled in mid 2020 and then cancelled due to Covid. Then was schedule again but cancelled due to Covid and finally we made it in August 2022.

French Polynesia Travel Review: Tahiti, Helicopter to Bora Bora, 4x4 Land Tour, Lagoons, Jet Ski, Hiking & Snorkeling, Whale Watch
This was our first trip with Zicasso! We sent in our inquiry for a trip to Tahiti/Bora Bora on a Friday afternoon. A travel designer from the travel company contacted us the same day and worked with us throughout the weekend. By Monday afternoon we had a finalized itinerary!

Planning the trip was easy. The travel designer had first hand knowledge of both places we wanted to go to and kept to our budget while helping us plan a great trip. Our trip ended up being ten days total with five nights in Bora Bora and four in Tahiti. Due to Covid restrictions and lockdowns on the islands, we ended up postponing our trip. She was very helpful in getting everything rescheduled for our new dates. During the trip, she checked in and when two of our activities were canceled due to the weather she was in contact and helped us reschedule or get a refund.

In Bora Bora, we stayed in an overwater bungalow and the views were incredible. We were able to jump directly into the ocean and snorkel around our balcony. We enjoyed a helicopter ride over Bora Bora as an introduction to the island - it was breathtaking to see the beautiful water and land from above. We did a 4x4 land tour to learn more about the history and culture of the island and the people. The lagoon tour to swim with sharks, rays, eels and many fish in the coral gardens was an amazing snorkeling experience. The jet ski tour was fun to see the water color change up close and explore around the island.

In Tahiti we had a car so we explored the island at our own pace and visited many places along the way - waterfalls, took an impromptu hike in the water gardens and just enjoyed the beautiful scenery. We ended our trip with a whale watching tour, we saw a mother and baby whale from a distance on our boat. As a bonus we saw spinner dolphins leaping from the water and a sea turtle. What a great way to end the trip! Overall we enjoyed working with the travel designer and would recommend others to plan a trip with her -  Bora Bora/Tahiti are true paradises everyone should see! Zicasso made planning our dream vacation easy, we look forward to using them again for our next vacation.
