Tanzania Group Africa Safari Review: Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara Sunsets
There are no words for the incredible trip to Tanzania from which we have just returned, all planned to perfection by our travel planner at this travel company. Our guide was with us from start to finish and showed us amazing sites and animals - its hard to believe there is a better guide in Tanzania than ours! I would highly recommend both our planner and guide who made sure our trip left nothing to be desired. Looking back, there is not one thing I would change if I could do it all over again (which I would in a heartbeat). Our trip began with two nights in Arusha getting acclimated before heading out on safari. We spent most of the full day we had in Arusha at an amazing place called Jifundishe, a library, school, community center and much more that does incredible work to help the local community - I would highly recommend a visit there. Next, we headed to Tarangire National Park, where we spent about a day and a half exploring the abundant wildlife, including at our beautiful resort, Maramboi Tented Camp (two nights), where the zebras, wildebeests and gazelles hung around right outside our rooms and where we could watch gorgeous sunsets over Lake Manyara as we enjoyed happy hour each evening. After Tarangire, we heading toward Ngorongoro Crater where we enjoyed two nights at the beautiful and peaceful Plantation Lodge, relaxing by the pool in the afternoons after a full day in the crater. Next, we headed to the gorgeous Serengeti where we stayed for four nights in the spectacular Roving Bushtops camp, a very intimate and special experience. Our group of 7 made up half of the camp of beautiful tents in a serene atmosphere and we were well taken care of by the most attentive staff, who anticipated our every need (even before we did!). The food at all of our accommodations was beyond expectation in both quality and quantity. We were sad to leave this beautiful country but hope to return one day in the future.

Africa Safari Review: Tanzania, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti, Zanzibar

This Africa travel company planned and organized a two-week safari and beach trip in Tanzania. My wife and I visited Tarangire National Park, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park, followed by five days on the beach in Zanzibar

I am very happy with the safari/beach trip which this company prepared. The service provided prior to the trip was excellent. The team at this travel company is extremely responsive and professional. I exchanged dozens of emails with them and always received a prompt and informed response. They know the market extremely well and I am glad to have chosen them. Our travel company also provided great advice regarding the locations to visit and how long to spend in each place given the time of year. The camps they selected during the safari were intimate, luxurious and very well-run. The hotels in Zanzibar were also very nice (not to mention a welcome respite after being on safari for a week!).

At the outset of our safari the owner of Amani Afrika met us and showed us our vehicle which was had a refrigerator filled with plenty of water and beverages for our trip. He checked to make sure we were happy with everything and introduced us to our guide.

This guide has 12 years of experience as a guide, is  exceptionally knowledgeable about the wildlife, and has a very friendly personality. Most importantly for our trip, our guide had a great eye for spotting things that other guides seemed to have missed. We trailed five young male lions solely because our guide recommended that we do so and soon after watched them take down a fully-grown male buffalo!

I would recommend this company and guide to anyone planning a private safari to Tanzania.

Luxury Africa Safari Review: Tanzania, Kenya, Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge, Kati Kati Camp, Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, Great Migration

Rating this safari tour operator is a little difficult as I believe that a company is only as good as their travel agents and the people they contract with in Africa.  My travel agent was the only reason I chose this company. She made the trip and itinerary come alive for me and I was "sold" the very first time I spoke with her.  Unfortunately, I have heard she is leaving this company, therefore I would have some trepidation about recommending the company.

The trip did not start out the best. When I arrived at Kilimanjaro there was no one to greet me!  Fortunately two gentlemen from another tour company assisted by calling the contract company in Africa's representative, Justin, for me.  Justin laughed and said he thought I was supposed to have arrived the day before, then had a taxi take me to my hotel in Arusha where he met me and minimized the issue with a brief apology.   Not a good way to start a journey!

Happily, the contract guide was fabulous.  He was with us the entire time we were in Tanzania and not only found game for us, but provided interesting history and facts about the animals and the country.  He was truly amazing and I would not hesitate to recommend him as a guide.  He made the time in Tanzania much more memorable.

When we flew from the Serengeti to Kenya (several take-offs/landings) we arrived at Arusha where Justin met us and drove us to Kilimanjaro (Serengeti-Arusha-Kilimanjaro-Nairobi Wilson). A very harrowing experience through traffic and nearly hitting a man on a bicycle.  We found out later we could have flown directly to Kilimanjaro, but Justin wanted time to "chat" with us before we left Tanzania!  That does not show thoughtfulness toward the traveler.

Upon arrival at Nairobi Wilson we were met by Daniel, a 'stand in' for our scheduled guide Ken.  On the way to our camp we had a short game drive with very little input from Daniel.  After the experience with our terrific guide we were not impressed with this "welcome".  However, upon meeting Ken later in the evening our hopes brightened considerably - especially since he told us he was the best guide in the Maasai Mara.  He proved to be very good and made sure we had superb game viewing.

The accommodations were wonderful:  Mt. Meru Hotel in Arusha was beautiful - with a large garden area in the back, gorgeous pool (although it was too cold for us to use), friendly & helpful staff, and I had the best Caesar salad ever!

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge (Tanzania) is a marvel.  How they got all the materials up there is a wonderment. We had quite a walk to our room (although some were farther than ours), but we managed.  The meals were all buffet and I would rate them only a "good", as I've had much better.  There was quite a variety, but there was just something missing. I'm sure others have rated their food higher - all depends on taste. The rooms were huge and hot water bottles were placed in our beds - a very nice touch since it was quite cold.  The best part of the lodge (in my opinion) was the view into the crater and watching the sunset.

Kati Kati Camp (Serengeti) was fabulous on all counts. Not luxurious, but that's not what we wanted, as we asked to be on the plains surrounded by the sounds of animals.  Our tent was large & clean with a sink, toilet and bucket shower.  Our dining tent was open and faced the plains.  It was staffed by wonderful men who looked after our every need and served the most delicious food - with a new soup each night: tomato, peanut, & cucumber - each one better than the previous.  Sitting around the campfire with our glass of wine watching the hyenas circling was something I will never forget, nor will I forget drinking coffee watching the sun rise on the Serengeti.

Sarova Mara Camp (Maasai Mara, Kenya) was like an oasis. Unless we looked at the sides of our 'room' we never would have believed we were in a tent - beautiful wood floors, marble bath and shower, mosquito netting around our beds (although it was not needed when we were there).  The grounds were beautifully kept and the facilities were exceptional. From the moment we entered the staff was there to assist and during our stay always greeted us by name no matter where we were.  The food here was also buffet and was very good - something different every night and I tried several new dishes. They had a pasta station at night and an omelet station for breakfast, along with salads, pastries, coffee and many kinds of tea.  I also had a wonderful massage the night before leaving - only $60/hour and well worth it after riding the bumpy roads in a Land Cruiser all day.  Sarova Mara would definitely be on my 'recommendation' list!

Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia & South Africa Review, Luxury Africa Safari, Nairobi, Serengeti, Cape Town, Tarangire National Park

You could not have planned the trip better. It was fantastic! Our safari driver from Rangers was great - again could not of been better. He pushed every day for us to see everything possible. Hes fun and incredibly knowledgeable and has a great command of the English language. You were right to schedule one day in Nairobi - so glad we did not change it to two days. We saw the last of the Big 5 - the black rhino in Kenya. We loved all of our accommodations and the people are so friendly, polite and helpful. We saw the Great Migration in Tanzania. We would not of changed one thing. People from other tour agencies were dissapointed that when they arrived in Kenya when we did as all of the Wildebeest had already migrated to Tanzania. What you scheduled for us was perfect. I do think that Tanzania is not well known but Kenya is to the average American like us. If it wasn't for you we would of never known about Tanzania. Tanzania has it all - except the black rhino at the Govenor's Camp- no need to even go to Kenya but I did want to go the the Elephant and Giraffe orphanages. We loved Capetown, the shark cage trip and the tour operator was wonderful. The 1/2 day Capetown trip was great. We went on the historic Capetown walking tour at 11:00 after we checked out. We added the Olduvai museum at the crater to our trip.  We had a wonderful time and saw so much in 17 days including traveling from the East Coast;  Arusha, Tarangire National park,  Ngorongoro crater, Central Serengeti - Turner Springs, Norther Serengeti - Kokatonde, Masai - Mara, Nairobi, Victoria Falls and Capetown. A trip of a lifetime.

Luxury Tanzania & South Africa Safari Review: Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, the Serengeti, 29-Day Trip
Best organized trip we've ever taken. Every day of the 29 day trip went perfect. We did a 9 day trip in the Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti Park, Tanzania. We think and were told by the different lodges that we stayed at, that  we had the best guide in the park.  Couldn't agree more. Two people made this trip so good our trip planner at this travel company and our guide. We had several conversations organizing the trip with the planner who made several suggestions that made it such a great trip.  Our guide was extremely knowledgeable about all the animals, plants and places we went to.

Travel Review: Luxury Tanzania Safari Tour, Serengeti, Cape Town, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, ...
I first spoke with Alana of this African safari company in March of this year. I explained that this was my "bucket list" trip and my wife was not as enthusiastic about going on Safari as I was. Alana and I discussed many options, different camps and hotels and based on her recommendations created a 9 day Private Safari Itinerary. While I can't give Alana and her team any credit for what we saw on Safari I can and will give them all credit for having every detail of our trip down pat. Alana and Nancy coordinated our trip from our depature from Newark Airport in the US through Heathrow into Nairobi and on to Arusha. Every needed visa, vaccination, hotel room, plane connection was discussed, explained and then when we were actually on site materialized on schedule. It was so comforting to arrive in a foreign land and be greeted by someone exactly as described. My wife who went with unknown expectations was blown away by the comfort, service and beauty of the camps we stayed at. Booking a private safari over a group safari was the best idea for us,. Where I orginally thought it would give us the opportunity to relax during the middle of the day, it enabled us to go on game drives almost everyday for the entire day. We stayed at Tarangire Treetops, The Manor at Ngorongoro Crater and the Migration Camp. Now that we are home it is my wife who is interested in planning a return trip to Africa with our entire family. This African safari company did a great job.....asante sana
